  • Thanks for this as yet unheard (by me) track. I haven't checked but with this quality of recording it must be a Columbia; Nice Bobby Davis (alto) and Chelsea Qhealey(Tpt)-the only slight disappointment is the absence of an Adrian Rollini bass sax solo, but one can't have everything !

  • Red hot NY Jazz love to have been at the Ramblers Inn to dance to this awesome sound.

  • The California Ramblers in brilliant form :-)

  • Obrigado for this lively new post and welcome home. What a delightful diversion from this crazier and crazier world.

  • @barbcard Hi B., Portugal was hot and lovely! It was my first time to be there. Lisabon in one of these cities I'd simply love to live in. Its charme, lively and artistic atmosphere, the perfect size and inspiring architecture perfectly fitting to my needs. My comeback to life, however, is painful. After two weekss of a "splendid isolation " in the Atlantic seaside, I suddenly must confrot these nonsense city riots and omnious attack of the newest version of a "financial crisis" in Europe.

  • @240252 Yes, I agree that Lisboa is a lovely city, especially those tiles and mosaic sidewalks. Been there a couple of times. Alas, I also totally agree about the state of the world. Reminds me of that old Chinese curse: may you live in interesting times. :)):((

  • Obrigada Grzegorz por ser meu amigo e presentear me com músicas tão legais.Araço amigo. MEGPESSOA.10/8/11.

  • @MEGPESSOA Olá meu amigo! And thank you for your post!

  • Well if she does, you certainly have a winner! And apparently can Charleston, too!

  • @VictrolaJazz We all love all these wonderful flapper-monsters of the Roaring Twenties, don't;we? Perhaps, they were not perfect material for the homeloving wives, but surely best companions for the crazy night out :-)

  • I wonder if the Rambler's Inn still stands, That's where they got their name after all it was rumored. It was so called NY style Jazz............

  • @HarborGuy Hello, yes, you are right, the first part of their nick "California" is promotional (for calling themselves "The Ohio Band" surely would not sound so good) while "Ramblers" is from the Ramblers Inn, where they first performed.

  • Hello Grzegorz - I am so happy - you are back - we all missed you - something fierce! I hope that you had a wonderful vacations which "recharged your batteries" a lot! Thanks a million for this lively foxtrot! Have a great day and welcome back!!!

  • @tango3721 Hallo Lana, Portugal is a great place for the holidays, especially the Algarve coast, where I stayed. Also, numerous trips were made by me and my friend: to Lisboa, Fatima, Sintra, also to Spain. And Portuguese people are so kind and friendly to foreigners. Lisboa looks like one of the safest cities in Europe and it makes me simply mad when I read today about "the street riots which are being foretold for Portugal". Riots? In Portugal? Someone has lost his senses!

  • Welcome back Grzegorz!

I do hope, you have enjoyed splendid holidays in the warmth of Portugal :-) thank you for this jazzy tune ***** with kind regards!

    Mark

  • @Markink Hello and thank you for your warm welcoming! I am glad to be back here, with all of you again!

  • Welcome back!

It has been pretty quiet around here with you away on holiday!

  • @abendstunde49 Well, this foxtrott surelly makes some noise again, after two weeks of a quietness in this corner! And I'm warning, I will not be inclined to stop, once I started making it!

  • Wonderful to find you back. I shall take this jolly reappearance on youtube as an indication that you enjoyed your vacation -- I hope so! The mighty California Ramblers could certainly induce anyone to fling a hoof, from the always willing Joan Crawford (1:49) to the more staid (2:37). Delightful ... and we missed you!

  • @Trombonology Hello and thanks for "to fling ahoiof" - what a rare expression, for my ear! It sounds lovely old-fashioned, something like "toodle-ooo", "thither", "oopsy-daisies" or "gay" meaning "happy". Thank you for your friendly welcoming! After all these wonders of Portugal, I am glad to be back!

  • Looool,bem vindo !

  • Geesh I thought I lost ya lol. Welcome back friend... Another one to the favorite list that you make up by 90%

  • @Turkeydoodlers So, I'm back and riding again! How good to see again all dear nicknames of yours in this site. Thank you :-)))

  • this is really one of the most delightful peppy tunes of theirs. i really like the way it moves. thank you. glad to hear you are back safe and sound; hope the trip was a chance to energize and relax. looking forward to more of your wonderful posts. take care.

  • @bill3murr Hello, I'm hapy to be back and uploading again! California Ramblers are for me absolutely the first five of American hot bands of the 1920s! I am particularily fond of their instumental arrangements as the Goofus Five.

  • @240252 You may well be interested in the YT eradogramophone channel where some exquisite vintage Portuguese 78rpm discs are to be found.

  • @1920sbuff Thank you for your recommendation! I just checked ther site and it looks really interesting! :-))

  • Welcome Back!
