  • I think you rock and I thank you for making this video. I will comment on your saying "...what goes on behind closed doors...". Although I know you didn't mean anything by it, we are a lot more than sex and being locked behind those closed doors even with the threat of having them kicked in and being brutalized and punished in a court even NOW in some places has created a lot of dysfunction among us. We have the right to love and live authentically and with the same impunity that straights have.

  • Oh Yeah he's names unkown lol, I Thought u meant him personally there for a second, Sorry My Bad x

  • Heyy Marcus You said he was Unknow, I Dont think he is Anymore Mate, Check His Channel Cos he has more Videos now. Weather there new or not I Dunno But There R Some on there of Him That I've Just see x

  • You Are Superman Marcus ;)

  • To give your life to the Military to protect our lives, is a Great sacrifice. Like you're Dad, I'm VERY PROUD of You!

  • You two would make a cute couple.

  • Awesome video awesome words cheers femme New Zealand

  • Dad.... i'm Superman!!

  • I think you are a straight-forward person and no bullshit. You tell it like it is, right to the truth and honesty and like you said, doesn't matter what sex, race, religion or whatever you are, everyone on THAT TEAM (ie; Army, Navy, etc) is there to do a job. When you get home, you can be who you want to, but for now, walk the walk, fight the fight and love and respect all your commrades no matter what! L8tr x1prince. :)

  • you are a real superman!!!!!

  • i LUV your video, dude. Im from Asia.

  • Wow the way you talk it showes you are a down to earth person, areyousuprised is lucky to have a friend like you , who does not judge but supports. Nice Video

  • Are you a faget?

  • He looks really good in that Superman shirt on dude.

  • I was in the Navy for 10 years and I hated when people would make comments about our shipmates based on their ignorance about love and sexuality. I always thought "don't ask don't tell" was stupid. All are created equal and as long as you love the one you are with that is all that matters. I was honored to serve with anyone, we were there for the same purpose, to serve our country. Defend our FREEDOM!

  • I see so many lies about people claiming that homophobia is a buzzword that they do not FEAR gays or are uncomfortable around them.Yet anyone with intelligence and understanding can see they are LYING.The definition of homophobia specifically states that it is a fear of people who are gay or a hatred of it even.People always fear what they do not UNDERSTAND period.

  • Talk about being total hypocrites especially in that regard.Ty and Areyousurprised and so many brave young men and women for serving and fighting for this country. Those who have a problem serving with people who are gay are the ones with the problem not those fighting alongside soldiers whether straight or gay.My father was as straight as it gets he died in July he served in the military and he served in the Vietnam War he also served alongside gay soldiers back then and had no problem with it.

  • The thing I find so insane about all of this is that half of these people who think that being against DADT and having gay americans in the military is Unamerican? What I find ironic about their way of thinking is the fact that writing discrimination into the US constitution is Unamerican yet they are CONSTANTLY trying to attempt to make that happen.

  • I love how brave and courageous people like you and AreYouSurprised are it gives those who may not feel the same courage the inspiration to believe in themselves and reach for the stars. You made so many wonderful points especially the end that if you want to come out do it on your own time and you are correct. No one can MAKE you come out that is all up to the person who wants to not the people who are trying to FORCE them to come out.

  • Do you have a crush on AreYouSurprised ?

That would be one hot couple! XD

  • @caelz24 MMMHHMMM!!!!

  • why, when I watched this video I thought you were "Areyousurprised" under a different channel? You both are similar in small ways... but whatev.

  • Biceps.. (:

  • @x1prince I appreciate your bravery. But doing something to jeopardize your career in your fight for equal rights is a bit unrelatable. I would never do a thing like this coz of the conservative backgroud i have and also the fact that i got used to hiding my sexuality from everybody. But i guess somebody has to raise their voice against policies like these. I dream of living in a world where everyone can live in harmony without being judged.

  • @lovemoviesful2 I am not American by birth. I have been here only 4 years and ya i do not know much about American Military. I would be supportive of Gays and Lesbians in the army if it is indeed making their lives miserable. Its high time that people would fight back for equality. And the reason for saying the things i said b4 is because i assumed the policy did not interfere with one's life outside the work.

  • @sunreddy85 And that is the problem with the policy, technically. If they see my videos before september 20, I can get kicked out with everything in my two years of service being taken away as well. My coming out video is enough for them to kick me out right now. And though It would really tick me off, I'm sick of letting them tell me who I should fear and such. I'm not afraid of them finding out and they can kiss me butt if they want to try to kick me out. My life outside of military is mine.

  • @x1Prince not true, my friend... ALL pending cases regarding violations of DADT and any CURRENT cases have been suspended granted the repeal of the law. Because of the repeal the law still exist, but your command really isn't enforcing it anymore and if they did try to enforce it, it wouldn't go through. So on the books, the law still exist until September 20th, 2011, but in reality it's already gone.

  • @x1Prince Kudos to you. Unfortunately, in 2002 I was separated due to DADT. Now, my boyfriend is Army, but thankfully he can be himself now and I can't wait for the day when I can pin him. Thanks for your service.

  • Good on you man!!! You have a lot of cajones, setting yourself up for the criticism of others. Military guys like you and AreYouSurprised make me proud to be an American, even though I've lived a chunk of my life overseas. It's so much easier to convey your message when you believe in it, and I know you do. Well done, and please, keep on taking a stand for anything you know in your heart is right. Much love and mad thanks to those who defend our country.

  • @x1Prince : I just wanted to say that what you said is amazing. Everyone has a right to be who they are without judgment from anyone. I have been watching AreYouSurprised for a little while and my heart goes out to him. There are a lot of people in this world that just sit on the sidelines, gay and straight, and let others struggle alone. It's great to know that there are still people in this world like you that will reach out and support ANYONE that needs it. Thanks for your words!

  • Gay rights and X-Files font. Awesome.

  • You look cute in that Superman shirt. Soops RULES! I agree with everything you said in this video :)

  • Really great man :)

  • x1Prince, if you don't mind me askin, why did you seperate from the military?

  • @GetTheHook I don't know what you mean.....i'm still in.

  • @x1Prince

I see. So I assumed you were gay, and maybe you're not but that's why I figured you weren't in anymore.

  • I love you

  • I recognized Shane Mack's voice immediately. In fact, I can even recall the scene in "Shelter" in which this song was played. Good choice for your music.

  • This is a nice supportive video for all of the gay men and women in our US military and for one in particular. I want to thank you for bringing Aren'tYouSurprised to everyone's attention. His videos give an insight into what it is like to be gay in our armed forces today.

Thanks, also, for being in his court. I'm sure that he is encouraged by all the people out there who are now giving him positive feedback. He doesn't have that long to wait. Soon, DADT will be history.

  • FUCKING SEXII

  • P.S. I am a gay male Canadian civilian.

  • are dating, married to, or your children? Show pictures, letters? How could anyone demand a right that they take for granted be TAKEN AWAY from those who volunteer to protect that same right? That is why DADT is wrong. Also, to demand the same rights as the heterosexual standing next to you is not a protest or loud or vocal or getting on a rooftop screaming you are gay. It is standing up for a constitutional right.

  • Aristotle said "The only stable state is the one in which all men are equal before the law." In your workplace have you heard an employee mention their spouse? A child? Display a family picture? WERE THEY FIRED? It is easy for civilians to say don't mention your homelife at work. What if you lived at work, ate, slept & when necessary put you & your fellow employees in a situation where any or all could be killed? The bond that must form must be very strong. How could you NOT mention who you.....

  • there is a reason to protest being treated like a second class citizen. No on should be dirt, everyone should be treated equally. No I don't think you need to go out and parade yourself as look at me I'm gay and proud please accept me. But I do think that you should stand up and demand respect as a person with views and beliefs.

  • Anyone on this planet has a right to live his/her life by his/her terms, as long as it doesnt harm the environment, another human or the person himself. I am a gay man myself and i dream to see a day where being gay is not frowned upon. But there is no need to protest or be loud and vocal about one's sexual orientation. I hope i did not offend anyone by my comments

  • I like the current army policy that asks you leave your ethinicity, sexual orientation etc behind and just have country's welfare in mind. What is wrong with the dont ask dont tell policy? Why is there this need to get on roof tops and screaming that you are gay. The porblem is not the army policy. It is the minds of the people in the society that need to understand that being gay is like being born as a white or black person. Nothing can be done about it. Don't blame the army for their policy.

  • @sunreddy85 Please see my response.

  • @sunreddy85 I think you need to research more about don't ask don't tell policy again. And are you in the military? Because you stated that you are gay and if you are, you would know the situation about DADT, and you would want it remove also. If you are not in the military then you have not clue what all the gays and lesbians that serve in the military are going through right now because of that policy. I said this because I had a gay friend that is currently in the mil.

  • @sunreddy85

If you in the military, and your straight then I believe we need a Shut the F*** up policy. Everyday I hear guys talk about what chick they were fucking, how long they did it...and all that stupid crap that I don't wanna hear at work. Whats wrong with the policy is I someone sees me with a guy outside of our job they can still try to get me fired. That's bull.

I should not have to hide outside of my job. I am a professional, I do my job without my personal affairs being involved.

  • @sunreddy85 Then you can't talk about hetero relationships or hetero marriage either. You can't talk about any type of relationship. I never hear of people being discharged for a hetero relationship, have you?

  • @sunreddy85 That's terribly funny, why must my NCO's constantly talk about banging chicks, and pussy. And other horrid disgusting vulgarities, and I couldn't so much as bring my BF to a military ball with me, unlike all the other heterosexual couples who can bring who every they want to family events. This policy FORCIBLY brings my private life into work by dictating what my actions outside of the office may or may not be. And I am happy that after Tuesday such bigotry will be ended!

  • hey, i just watched your vid

    ♥♥♥HUG LOVE♥♥♥

    :-)

  • Great and touching video. Video's like this and channels like AreYouSurprised certainly will help military to come out and feel supported by others. Being a good soldier ( men / women ) has nothing to do with being gay or straight.

    Thanks and take care!

Love and peace from the Netherlands!

  • Great video man! I support areyousuprised and been following his journey for a while now and i think what he is doing is great, and you too mate. Your viewings will soar like crazy to a shocking amount very soon! The kind of support from you is an amazing thing for us.

  • The times they are a-changing. Thank you, you prove wrong all the people who make generalizations about "young people." I see your generation doing great great things. Expect to get a lot more views I would think, I will have to check out your blog.

  • Omgosh Marcus that was an amazing video thanks for making it. And I just wanted to say I love ur t-shirt in this video cuz if u can't tell from my username I'm a huge superman fan so yeah. :) and thanks for letting me kno about the injunction I didn't kno that had happened and also @Areyousurprised I look forward to the day when u share more about urself with us without fear of DADT, this video is evidence that their are people on youtube that care, Areyousurprised <3

  • I wish we had seen more of this attitude 20 years ago so we could have avoided the whole DADT fiasco. Ah well, good to see it now. Thanks for the video and your service.

  • Just a little point.

'AreYouSuprised' has spelled his name without the 'r' in surprise... so people should remember that when looking him up.

I'm gay for 36+ years, and am enjoying his journey.

    Michael, from...

  • I watched this because @AreYouSurprised had liked it. WHAT AN AWESOME, INSPIRING VIDEO! Thank you for your service to our country, for being such an awesome supportive friend to @AreYouSurprised, and for being a vocal advocate to the GLBTQIA community! - Blessings in all ways and in all that you do! - David L.

  • You DO appear to be a 'Prince' of a man, and your words show the princliness of your human soul. Everyone should think so clearly and accept so greatly!

  • WoW, you are a Genuine sincere man. That was one of the most heartfelt supportive videos I have ever watched. I too started watching AreYouSuprised video’s and I wish him all the best. As a gay man myself, I Thank you for taking the time to make this and supporting the LGBT community. Take care, ~Russ

  • I knew it was "wingman" cause I also did afjrotc in highschool!

  • Great video man!

  • And yeah, "wingman" is spot on

  • Awesome. :)

    Well said.

  • He friended me on YouTube a week or so ago. I've been following his videos since. This was a very kind thing.

  • superman will always use his powers for good!

  • Such words of peace, man! I've yet to make a dadt video (my cousin recently joined the navy)

  • Great support video, I was in when DADT was created and fought against it... And yea I'm gay, I was USAF and my partner was US Army... It was the stupidest policy I ever heard of....

Keep up the fight for those who have to say in the shadows, I do....

  • That was a great video. Very heartfelt. Out of curiosity are you gay or a straight ally?

  • That was great. Thanks so much.

  • As serious as this video is (and as much as I agree with it) I loved the Jedi reference. =D

For anyone in the US military who still thinks that having gays and lesbians serve openly in the military will cause strife and discord, they need only look at the Canadian Forces as an example of how this is not true. I serve openly and without discrimination. There will always be a few assholes, however 99.9% of people I work with are professionals and are supportive.
