  • wow man i really love the way how you took the interest to point out the mistakes that normally people do and even pointing out the pickups! lol... that was grate!! and i got to tell you man there was times that i was confused if ur guitar was plug in at all, cause you had perfect timing and perfect tone!

    marvelous!!!!!

  • @darkwatch07 Hey thanks! Ya I LOVE Line 6 and these PODs man! They are great for replicating tones and for recording. Glad it helped!

  • Outstanding !!!! Very cool to see the different parts like that.

  • @Hefman1999 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

  • LOL you are a GREAT teacher. Thank you!

  • @ejaqmusic Oh yes I agree if it was no for them their music would not be what it is. You are correct because allot people do not understand music is much more then just playing the instruments and running over the notes.

Thanks for you're comment and for bringing up that very great point!

  • real pro!

  • Cool man. I already got a copy of it. Great book

  • o0 cool. I already got it...the next day actually. Lol. I thought it was going hard to find but it wasn't.

  • @Drew41192 Thanks man, I bought it on ebay for like $10.00 years ago. You can find really cheap books sometime on there. Probably now? REALLY CHEAP!

  • @DreidMusicalX Cool bro. Thanx. The following day I commented on your video, I went out lookin' 4 it N was lucky enough to get a copy of it. Great book

  • @DreidMusicalX Cool Bro. I got it already. Lol. The day after I commented your video, I went around to a couple of stores and got it.

  • no one does layered guitar sounds like Def Leppard they are simply the best. If you listen closely the base growls in the background of this song and it's almost haunting. and Phil and Steve's "duet" is so clean. Pure genious. try and find quality like this in todays crap fag shag hair emo whining shit music LOL sorry got carried away there.

  • @HalfBritWings72 Sorry I must have missed this comment a couple week ago? I get busy writing my own stuff and working? haha! But ya man I agree! Def Leppard with Steve and Phil had some kick ass music they wrote!

  • thanks so much man, with your video you pretty much had me playin the song right in less than a few hours. cheers!

  • @tocaracer06 NP! Glad to be of help...

  • I gotta tell you..............I just coming back and back to these two vids. This song is probably (in my opinion at least) one of the greatest songs ever written. The entire Hysteria album just got it 'right' when dealing with lead/rythum guitars; everything just sounds perfect.

You did an amazing job with these vids man; seriously. Makes me keep trying and trying to get this song down.........lol

  • @3:28 when you said that Guitar 1 plays the lead but not Guitar 2....

Phil said on the Hysteria: Classic Albums DVD that they both played the solo so it would create wider sound. They experimented a lot with that album... also if you watch them play it live, especially in on the In The Round, In Your Face video shot in 1988, they both played the solo and Joe played the rhythm parts. After Steve's death they just played the solo together and there was no rhythm as Sav would just play his bass.

  • pt 2

Because you are talking many different versions of this song and not this version.I have seen them over 30 times and know what you are talking about. But you need to pick a version and stick with it. Not trying to mix them all up or its going to end up garbage when you try to go play it live.

  • pt 1 These videos I have done are exactly the way it was done when it was written and recorded on the cd, not afterwards when bands start changing version around. Many bands start changing things around from the cd versions.

  • Guitar1 and Guitar2 are perhaps amongst the best guitar covers I've seen on YT. Clean, no distortion, feedback only in the right spots, no noise. Holy f-n yap. Nice!

  • Thanks! Line 6 is awesome! It allows you to re create their tones of the amps, cabinets, and effects they use perfectly!

  • Excellent.......you're right on the money, sound and all..............

Nice to see guitarists taking the time to get everything right

  • Thanks! There is a second video of the other guitar part I had done with this if you have not seen it? I didn't have split screen software back when I did this so I had to do two videos? lol! Thanks for watching!

  • That ok bro not many do

  • doesnt anyone have a cover with the lead guitar intro????

  • Hey again! I think im gonna break down and go to my local guitar center and see what deals i can get on a Jackson DK2S (poor man's PC1 :) Since i was raised on Def Leppard, thats all i have wanted to play. So i decided the jackson dk2s is the closest to the pc1 for my budget and its very good quality too. Its kinda funny that phil started playing when he was 16...thats how old i am :)

  • Just make sure it holds it tuning on up and down the neck. If you need I have a tutorial about buying a guitar on my other channel of what to look for? About 16? Thats about when I started myself. I think thats about the age that hopefully most of us make a disicion of what we really want in life. Mine was music no matter what! Good luck with you're guitar and take time to play it to make sure its what you really want.

  • haha you really got me thinking on what to get! I really need to make a good decision but i really dont know what will fit me good. I still want that signature phil collen sound but an entry level guitar most likely wont be able to get even close to that......

  • What you should do is get a really decent guitar that you like. The get a PODxt with it. With the PODxt you will be able to get ANY sound you want to get like I do. Don't get me wrong? You get what you pay for. My guitar is custom and almost 2 grand! But I can still get great tone with my Epiphone as well that is only a $600 guitar. You would be amazed at what you can do with the PODxt . I use it live and for all my videos as well as the video here I have done. You dont really want to be a clone

  • Getting the same guitar that Phil has. Its nice? I don't know? lol! I don't like being a clone of another guitar player. But thats really up to you if you want to spend that kind of money on someone else's signature guitar? Not when you can get the style you want and custom for that price of what is you! Take you're time and find what you really want, and if that is what you really want? Great! But to be exact? You will have to buy his amps and effects also? Thats all in the PODxt.

  • Awesome Tutorial!!!!! Now if only i had a guitar and knew how to play.......I have always wanted to do it but im worried that it will get boring after a while, and where im going to learn from.

  • Music never gets boring if you like music that is. Every time you learn new things and able to complete it is reward enough in almost 27 years of playing. Sure a musician has ups and downs like anything else in life, but that is when you put it down for a few weeks & relax. I took about 3 1/2 months of lessons from Mark Slaughter in Las Vegas NV in the 80s. It was enough to learn to pick a few notes but that was about it. From there on I taught myself with patterns, numbers, & anything off MTV.

  • I absolutely love music so i think ill be fine with the boring part......now should i try to get lessons if i get one or should i just go the online route instead?

  • If I had the money of someone who was really good at lessons I think I would have done it that way to learn more faster. It probably took me a extra year or so to figure things out myself that could have been shown to me faster. But I also believe my own style now would have been corrupted by someone else's if I would have? Its really a toss up to me about lessons or by ear. This I will say to do! Get books! They are more accurate then anyones playing will ever be by ear. cont..

  • I now teach about 12 people around here during the week and books are more accurate then anyones playing by ear. SO thats what I teach from so they have something to refer back to while learning. But you can also break the rules later one like I do once you know what you are doing. Learn right first, then break the rules as you go, say after a year to create you're own style. & Just HAVE FUN! Thats what is really about man! As I said there are many of people that like to help each other here.

  • Well, I did it!!! I went to guitar center and got an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top with a Heritage Cherry sunburst finish and its absolutely beautiful. I also got a Marshall MG30FX (should have got a line 6 but what the hell) and that thing screams too. I got a couple of books and im gonna try to find some instructors so i can learn right the first time.

  • Cool man! You will have fun! The marshal amp you got will do fine for now to learn on. You can move on to better amps later on.

  • i got a stealthplug audio interface for my computer too so i can use all the amp sounds on my mac too then hook my computer to the line in on my amp play loud haha

  • Hell brother I had it hard compared to today having You Tube! MTV showed a 3 second clip of a solo in the videos of you were lucky! lol! The rest of everything was learning by ear picking it out note by note or very short tabs here and there they released. Today with some of the guitar players on here? You should have NO problems if you really want to learn. I even help people out daily on here. If you have the time to practice, & the (LOVE) to learn it? YOU WILL Thanks for watching my friend!

  • Hey thanks for the advice! Im really considering buying one now.

  • If you like music and that is what you want to do? Then do it! You have only one life bro! Live it!

You're welcome and anytime I can help you if you do start playing just ask!

  • 2 is sufficient to recreate the song. But saying that the books never lie is ridiculous. Most of the time the music/tablature books are put out by people that have no connection or communication with the band whatsoever and are chock full of mistakes. You're welcome to put your faith in them if you life but it is woefully misplaced.

  • Dude you are not telling me anything that I already do not know. But I am sorry to tell you that in my 27 years of playing guitar and over 650 books I own I have never seen a book wrong yet. Only the person reading it not doing what the notes and whats written telling them to do. Hal Leonard is one of the best out there that does books. Please if you find a book thats wrong? Point it out to me and I bet you that I will show you that you are reading it wrong.

  • The solo section does include 2 guitars that play in harmony; they do it live all the time. As far the 'number' of guitars playing on any Def Leppard track, they near a baker's dozen on most songs.

  • On the cd the song only takes 2 guitars to play it right. Just a rhythm and lead . The books do not ever lie! I have seen them live in the last 26 years, about 10 times an seen them do it the correct way also as well as Joe doing this part while they do a harmony on the main solo to make it more like stereo on stage. But I have also seen them many time when Steve was alive where Joe never touched the guitar! As for layering tracks? Of course studios do that to make cd tracks fuller. cont...

  • So if you are looking to play this song the correct way as it was written. It would be the way I am playing it now between both of these videos 1 an 2 that I have posted up. I also have played this song live for many years with 3 of my bands and have never used more then two guitarist to do it note for note. Its not needed...If you play it correctly.

  • I gotta tell you man; great job! I can play the basic chords.....but I've been trying to learn every part correctly. Great vids!!! These should be a great help!

  • i'm fond of def lep & i'm tryinig to play guitar for 5 years but my progresses are poor! But you 're playing like the band i love your videos

    see you

  • can you please send me the tabs for the second part

  • Sorry, Your going to have to buy there book. I dont go by tabs ever. Tabs are always wrong 99.9% of the time. Books are never wrong.

  • what type of book pleaseee!!!!!!

  • Type in Def Leppard Signature Licks or you can buy it from my website even cheaper!

  • can you please post the tabs for the guitar 2 part :)

  • hey guitar two does the part that you hear the most in the chorus right. And Guitar one drops in behind doesnt it

  • 1:10? yes guitar 2 is doing most of it there

  • i have that same ibanez pretty much. except mine doesnt have that pickguard

  • I had upgrades to this when I bought it. The ones that were stock werent that great, but it ended up being a frickn great guitar after the upgrades to it. The pickups a tremolo have been changed. It already had this plate but was nothing like it is now.

  • Check your inbox, I went ahead and tabbed them out for you.

    Keep jammn!

    Dave

  • Is there any way you could possibly tab the the two guitar parts during the chorus

  • this is video is burk, dont suck

  • thanks!

  • hey nice playing, ive been trying to figure that sound effect in the chorous out and i did thanks to you man but in the rhythm guitar is there any point in the song were its clean? or is all distorted? right in the pre-chorus when your following the bass is that distorted?

    keep rockin man

  • Glad I helped! But, The only clean w/chorus this Guitar 2 part uses is the very 1st harmonic note hit, that it! After that its semi distortion to a almost semi full distortion the rest of the song out. Settings about level (7)the most distorted part I would say? Any more than that and its too much! Just enought to sustain the leads parts he plays without them dying short. Guitar 1 lead is the only clean guitar off and on through out the entire song.

  • alright thx man, keep rockin the real music:)

  • ok thx i will get it

  • I sent you a link of where to get it.

  • i wish to play that song can you sand me the tabs plz

  • I dont have tabs, I only have the book. Also its under copyright of UMG that allowed me to post these videos under conditions of not breaking the rights to there songs. You can buy the book of Def Leppard Signature Lick or Vault pretty cheap online.

  • I have the Hal Leonard Book. This song looks pretty fun to play but there's alot that goes into it. I'll work on it more once I get Love Bites out of the way.

  • It is fun and a great song to do live! Yes it has a bit more going on with it as far as timing and the slides for guitar 2. Its a awesome song also, if you execute the techniques properly. It definetly is a great song to compliment each others playing with as well. But yes you should do 1 song at a time if possible, it puts your mind more in focus on the song at hand. Otherwise your mind is wondering between them both & dedication to what your working on gets lost!

  • What pickup position do you use for the lead parts. I generally stay on the 4th one.

  • For the main leads guitar 1 & 2 I use postion 1 bridge pickup for more sustain of the distortion. And its a little brighter sounding then pos 2. Every guitar is different depending on the arrangement of your pickups and types combined with the amp your using and tones? It all matters! mids, treble, bass, distortion levels, all of it matters to get the best sound for it. You just have to get it as close as possible!

  • hey dude...keep brinin it

  • Thanks, I will!

  • I'm lovin it... It brings back many many memories. Keep rockin...sounds great!!!!

  • Yes it does!

  • Hell yeah!

  • Thanks my friend! If you get the chance, take a look at Part 1 Lead Guitar Video. I couldnt do a split screen like I wanted to do? I couldnt find the right software in time before I finished the videos. I think it was too many MB to do it anyways, but what the heck!

    Keep Rock"N"

  • Awesome Awesome Awesome !

  • Thanks Aaron! Did you see the second video witht he leads yet? This is what I was working on last week. It took me 3 days to create the tone for these parts in both videos.

  • First comment on this good job again.

  • Thanks! I like the guitar 2 rhythm part better sometimes? Besides the solo on guitar 1's part? I do think Def Leppard did a great job mixing the parts and having it sound the way it does? Things have to be very precisely done to sound right! Very littleroom for a mistake or its all over!

  • Some Reason the sound has been encoded back to mono on You Tube? Also sounds a little blurred, maybe too much data for it to handle? Ill put the mp3 on my website to download the true sound of the recording I did for free! Iyt does help to turn the volume down a little bit!
