If there is one thing I have noticed, music is music no matter what. Religion is the same way, it is interupted in many ways - each displaying a different message to every person who takes it in. I'm egnostic - I get bashed all the time about it but even I like Skillet. Their songs have meanings behind them - and a good deal of them aren't about god. They address problems humans have and that is why there are one of the few American bands I will listen to...or Christan bands on top of that.

@ProneToHIV Amen to that. It's something the lead singer talked about during one show that the reason he loves rock is that when he has the mike, he can just be honest and speak his mind. You hit it spot on!!!! Much Props. One thing though is that I hate Christianity being thought of as a religion, because it's more of a spiritual family, quite like an earthly one. Its both. All of this emphasis on a relationship distracts the masses from the intricacies of theology and how each of the sects of Christianity believe. For instance, a Protestant worships differently than a Catholic or eastern Orthodox. All sects (I use 3 here) believe in different views theology. It is about a relationship, but Christianity IS a religion.
Just don't see the arguement, I look at religion as a field of study rather then some mystical beast that I should look up too. I'm not interested in that field of study and don't care whether the crap that's said to be in it is real or not.

If there is one thing I have noticed, music is music no matter what. Religion is the same way, it is interupted in many ways - each displaying a different message to every person who takes it in. I'm egnostic - I get bashed all the time about it but even I like Skillet. Their songs have meanings behind them - and a good deal of them aren't about god. They address problems humans have and that is why there are one of the few American bands I will listen to...or Christan bands on top of that.

You hit it spot on!!!! Much Props. One thing though is that I hate Christianity being thought of as a religion, because it's more of a spiritual family, quite like an earthly one. You have a father who loves you, but you must obey, brothers and sisters who care about you and you can come to for guidance.

Its both. All of this emphasis on a relationship distracts the masses from the intricacies of theology and how each of the sects of Christianity believe. For instance, a Protestant worships differently than a Catholic or eastern Orthodox. All sects (I use 3 here) believe in different views theology. It is about a relationship, but Christianity IS a religion.
