  • Fuck the guitar tone just cuts through me

  • this is just amazing

  • Great version! Not to take anything away from the Shads, though. Brian seems he's

paying homage to Hank. I like 'em both.

  • Good for Brian and the Quo's, shame on the Shadows :) But I like both versions.

  • Dr Brian May - my guitar hero. His Red Special beauty - my favorite guitar ever!

  • This is epic. :D

  • Not a bad version, but it lacks the pace of the original and the occasional bursts from the second lead guitar make it sound a bit leaden by comparison.

  • I saw brian perform this with Quo (as its who is playing this with him) live many years ago at a Quo Fan club only gig.......ace stuff, best version of this song EVER !!

  • I like what he's done with this - he's taken a classic and made it his own. The role of the rest of the band shouldn't be underestimated though, and while the dramatic percussion works, it's clear that they're not The Shadows.

  • Yes Brian is one of the best electric guitarists ever. His work with Queen is untouchable. He continues to make very interesting and worthy choices. This cover of the Shadows FBI showed respect for the original then made it current. Well done Brian.

  • this is going into my ALIEN BEAT playlist, i hope all the aliens are dancing to this beat, awesome

  • just I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • Without doubt the best guitarist the U K has produced....Give it some Brian..

  • @Robin9291

He's a good guitarist, but not the best by far by the only measurement for that, technique. Personal preferences may make him your favorite and definitely one of mine too! :D

  • @guitarnublet Technique is a tool to achieve what you would like to create - music! A musician uses his technique to create art. Art is about emotions and not about technique.

  • @guitarnublet Brian is not just "good" guitarist, he is one of the world's best guitar players. What people ( younger generations) should know is that technique is not what makes one guitarist better or the best. You have brilliant technique and no emotions, true colors, creativity etc - you're not good guitar player, it's like a body without soul - and that's not art, not true musician. Music is not sports.

  • @bijou201

You don't need to tell me all this, I play the guitar myself. The only objective standard to measure a guitarist by is however his technique. Judging it by anything else basically comes down to taste, and this varies from person to person. I think Brian is a great guitarist. I love his style. It's full of passion. But that is my opinion. By this standard there is no such thing as a 'great' guitarist, as the standard varies from person to person.

  • @guitarnublet I think he's a great guitarist, but why I like him so much is that his style is unique and unmistakeable.

  • @bijou201

By the way, check out my cover of the solo of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb if you think I don't know what putting feeling into a song is! :D

  • @guitarnublet Hi there, I checked it. It's pretty good. You're young, just keep on rockin in that way :)

Btw, my husband always plays Comfortably Numb, it's his favorite guitar solo. I like it, but my favorite guitar solo is Bijou :)

  • It also features Status Quo too

  • @shadogie59

Yea we know..it tells us on the info...duhh.

  • Mais c'est fabuleux en fait, très belle reprise

  • i love this track its so coooooool just like brian may

  • And Sir Isaac Newton learned how to Rock and Roll. I love this guy and he's a true genius and Renaissance man. If I ever met him I will shook his hand and look him in the eye and say THANK YOU BRIAN, you made the world better.

  • It's written by Harris too :) Not only Marvin and Welch written it.

  • hank rules!

  • 1:17 whats that from? lol

  • "Twang" a tribute album to Hank and Shads. includes Neil Young, Peter Frampton, Peter Green, Tony Iommi Bella Fleck among others.

  • i bet hanks classes steamed up when he heard this..........nice one bri....

  • I was at Brixton too for that gig, (Quo Fan Club Members only)

This is a Great collaboration of Quo and May, and Rossi's and May's guitar playing are so recognizable.

    Fab stuff this......

  • I was in the crowd at the Brixton Academy in London in jan '96 when Brian joined Quo on stage for a live version of this, FANTASTIC!!!

  • This version is so great. There is another with Ian Hunter that's too great. But the original always be the best.

  • Well with 10 Red Special-trained fingers it should be easy.

  • tanman cop yourself on you thick stupid bastard...talking shit like that

  • Brilliant update on a classic , good on ya Brian , Hank is brilliant live too !!

  • This was recorded for the CD "Twang!" which was a collaboration between various legendary guitarists to pay tribute to Hank and the Shads. I believe Hank played a Brian-esque version of FBI on of his own tours in the late 90s. Hank obviously loves breathing new live into the classic Shads tunes and I'm sure he would approve of Bri's version!

  • This is truely amazing

  • Well done my Curly one! Rocking With Curly Leads

  • @Keijz74 hahahahahhaha good one

  • I just love anything this man does..and just last week he even answered my email..brian may is just 110% cool...love ya bri xxx

  • @magnoliagoddess108 WOW! how do you get his email?

  • I like both Brian May and Hank but this isn't the same.

  • i love both guitarist btu i prefer this version of the song its more of that cooool hard rock/metal vibe the original didnt have it because well it was made in 61 lol, this is just got a cooler heavy groove to it

  • Brian May fait partie des 4 ou 5 plus grands guitaristes de la planète (avec Hank b. Marvin), et sa version de FBI est fabuleuse parce que différente de celle des Shadows, qu'on peut imiter mais jamais égaler! Bravo Brian . Je suis fan

  • This version is more heavy. However Hank Marvin still being my hero

  • very kool nice but all for given hank.nice try tony vk

  • Brilliant i like this Version very much not as good as the Shadows but still good

  • the shads is the bibel he said

  • I have no idea where these little gems are coming from but they are effing fantastic. I have always said that May, Page, Clapton, Beck & Townshend are the best of the best

  • Great cover..........but it just doesn't have the "Hank" touch for me !!

  • an awesome cover!! So tastefull and well executed. God bless these guys.

  • Brian May is a HERO!

  • Did I see Brian dressed as Elvis??

    1:09...lol.

  • (Big smile) I've never seen that one. Cool Brian!

  • This is not only Brian May playing solo you can also hear Rossi playing solo on his tele.

  • This was originally recorded for the Shadows tribute cd called Twang its a great version with the Quo members and Brian trading licks. Brian doubles his guitar at 2.15 basically his trademark

  • Yep Quos old Drummer Jeff Rich on the Drums. Its actually the Whole of Quo on this track with Brian. It was recorded the same time as Quos cover of Raining in my Heart.

  • Brian May and Quo ensemble! Cool. And I already thought it sounded cool.

  • class song, brian may, rick parfitt and Francis rossi, what a team!

  • god bless brian may !

  • He's a big fan of Hank Marvin

  • @Arklowbank Brian himself said the Shadows were the most metallic around when he started playing guitar.

  • tout simplement le meilleur guitariste que Dieu nous ait donné, gloire à toi brian may !!!! et queen avec !!!! grandiose, génial inimitable, je t'adore !!!!!

  • I never heard this song before! (I know, it's

like I'm from Mars or something; lol) This is

going on my IPod as a work-out favourite!

  • the shadows

  • Would love to see Michael Schenker and Mr. May "cut heads" on the same stage....Wow, that would be pretty special

  • Now I know why Brian May was in the the Shadows dressing room with Cliff in the Shadows Final Tour Concert...He is a friend and a big fan of the Shadows...

  • very nice slideshow and cool renedition of this classic Shadows tune

  • Francis Rossi is`nt playing just Rhythm guitar,he`s playing lead and trading licks along with Mr May.

  • can you prove that mate if so please show me.

cause im covinced brian is just over dubing him self with the lead parts

  • That sounds like Cozy Powell on drums to me.

  • nice version

  • Good guitar player ...But a lot of noise too!

Nothing to compare to Hank. A different style!

  • "Written by Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch. Featuring Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt on rhythm guitars."

  • 1:11 ??? Brian???

  • The Elvis looking guy is most probably Brian's son Jimmy.

  • But then again I also saw some photos of Brian Imitating an Elvis look. SO it could also be him. There are live gigs of Brian wherein Jimmy has a cameo appearance and have that Elvis look.

  • That one at 1:11 is Brian, I have one picture of Jimmy dressed up like that, and he is standing right next to Brian.

  • Brian used to open his solo shows with a Twit. E. Conway act.. where he'd put on a wig and do a southern accent and do some kinda of old rock song. I wish I would have been old enough to attend one of his solo concerts. :P

  • Its the B Side to Why Dont We Try Again...Great song to play along to.

  • very cool thanks... is that Taylor on the drums ???

  • No it's QUO drummer JEFF RICH

  • Very amazing cover version of The Shadows. I love The Shadows too.

    That's rocks!!

  • Sweet...I just love him! ^.^ Thanks a bunch for all the awesome videos you post!

  • Totally love this - have always liked this song a lot, and this cover version rocks!

Thanks to Brian for the music, and thanks to Dave for sharing
