what do you expect? they were still recovering from the 70s fuel shortages thanks to the greedy towel heads and the pussy liberal enviromentalists who stopped almost all domestic fuel exploration...and the blood sucking insurance companies also helped kill the musle car due to outrageous premiums, I would have no problems having a fox body in my garage along with my 2007
the 79-86 is for fags that can't afford a real 87-93 5.0s they like to talk 4-eyes (fucking ugly) and cumming over their FAIRMOUNT DASHBOARDS. you can keep that old HORSESHIT.
@80s4U LOl you make it sound as if a bug eyed Stang is a million dollars more than a 4 eyed model. Besides you should also consider the fox body Mustang is based off of what else...the Fairmont.
IIt looks kinda cheap and junky, but a lot of early 80's American cars had that look. But it's amazing how little the shape changed from here through the '93 model year. Kinda nuts.
I have this car. It had tons of problems when I first got it, but this is because of the idiot that owned it before me. Never did a tune-up or oil change on it, and decided to splice an aftermarket radio directly into the headlights. These problems cause the car to go mad down the freeway, almost exploding (literally) with me and my fiancee inside. I have fixed it sionce then, and I've no problems since. The power is clearly lax, but it's not bad besides. Amazing gas mileage.
Nothing you mention would cause the car to explode.. Having the radio wired to the headlights would just make the radio turn on and off with the headlights.
Think about it. You're pulling an aftermarket radio amp level through headlight wires. This caused a short circuit in the wiring harness over the right fender. Sparks were flying at this point. Also, seeing as how the vacuum line going straight back to the fuel tank is directly below this section of the wiring harness...well, you get the picture.
I don't have to think about it, I KNOW about it. The headlight switch has a built in circuit breaker that will cut power in the event of a circuit overload. The fuse will also blow way before there's any "sparks flying". I'm not sure what you're talking about with a vacuum line going the fuel tank. The only lines going there are the fuel line and vapor vent line. Neither pose an explosion hazard under any circumstance, and only pose a fire hazard if you have a severe fuel leak.
Well the gt came back in '79, The models before '74'- '78 had no power and were horrible because of the fuel crisis. The Mustang ll was a cow but was consedered great on fuel. BUT, I wouldn't trade my '89 5.0 V8 for nothing.

not the worst looking mustangs by any means... look at the Mustang ll. but I think we can agree they are decidedly underpowered lol

To be fair, the 80s were terrible for everything.... not just cars.
ixaxion 1 year ago
Sorry, but although the Mustang is a good car, that Fox body is the very embodiment of the 80's: pure cheese.
Quite possibly one of the best things Ford has done recently was go back to the old 60's look.

I own a 1982 fox mustang i love the car. I think IMO the front end looks much better than the 87-93, Plus why drive a 87-93 like everyone else?

TRUE!!

@HackoDis Why drive either? There's a reason 80s Camaros sold better.

Actually GT returns in 82. I own a 89 5.0 also, but it's LX HB.

I thought the late 80's stangs were good looking cars with much better quality than the 79-85 models.

I would buy a retro Mustang that imitated the look of these any day. I hope they don't imitate the quality or tractory base engines.

That's because either you wern't born yet. Or you wasn't old enough to remember this commercial when this mustang was the hottest car of it's day.
