I have this car. It had tons of problems when I first got it, but this is because of the idiot that owned it before me. Never did a tune-up or oil change on it, and decided to splice an aftermarket radio directly into the headlights. These problems cause the car to go mad down the freeway, almost exploding (literally) with me and my fiancee inside. I have fixed it sionce then, and I've no problems since. The power is clearly lax, but it's not bad besides. Amazing gas mileage.

Nothing you mention would cause the car to explode.. Having the radio wired to the headlights would just make the radio turn on and off with the headlights.

Think about it. You're pulling an aftermarket radio amp level through headlight wires. This caused a short circuit in the wiring harness over the right fender. Sparks were flying at this point. Also, seeing as how the vacuum line going straight back to the fuel tank is directly below this section of the wiring harness...well, you get the picture.

I don't have to think about it, I KNOW about it. The headlight switch has a built in circuit breaker that will cut power in the event of a circuit overload. The fuse will also blow way before there's any "sparks flying". I'm not sure what you're talking about with a vacuum line going the fuel tank. The only lines going there are the fuel line and vapor vent line. Neither pose an explosion hazard under any circumstance, and only pose a fire hazard if you have a severe fuel leak.

Well the gt came back in '79, The models before '74'- '78 had no power and were horrible because of the fuel crisis. The Mustang ll was a cow but was consedered great on fuel. BUT, I wouldn't trade my '89 5.0 V8 for nothing.
