I climbed St. Helens two weeks ago. Some say its beauty was taken from her, I say it has a whole new form of beauty. I wish I had American citizenship (I'm Canadian) so I could live closer to this jewel and be able to explore at will. Guess I'll have to move to southern British Columbia! Nice video, doesn't deserve the 7 dislikes. Two thumbs up.
@krabbers: Mt St Helens erupted SIDEWAYS! That had never happened before and scientists did not think it was possible. A much larger area would have been evacuated and fewer people would have died. One man who died was a scientist who was miles away on another tall ridge--but he was on the side of Mt St. Helens that blew, so he died too. It just goes to show how little control we humans really have over the environment. We keep taking big risks, acting like we have control that we do not
@ElevenBar he was not the only one who died either. One of the former presidents did in his home cuz he didnt want to evacuate cuz he lived there for years.
@ElevenBar ....actually there have been "sideways" eruptions before....its called a lateral blast.....one of the main ones is the 1902 eruption of MT. PELEE in 1902 which killed around 30,000 people with only 3 survivors even remotly in the vicinity,1 of which was locked in a dungeon...Louis-Auguste Cyparis...the other 2 survivors were leon Compere Leandre and Havivra Da Ifrile

I was in Orange Co. California when this happened. I remember the ashes raining down from the grey sky. This is a great video. A good ending for the kids to see. Life goes on. Thank you for sharing.
