Is the front scoop functional, as in 'ram air?' If so, are you simulating the ram air effect with the hose attached? Just curious why we see such a discrepancy with dyno results. (165 - 192???)
@preciselyfun no, is for cooling the bike but it goes much air... what discrepancy you say? so..in the video you can see 188, 189, 190 and 150...this last power is with rain map. Results are a bit 'high because Dynojet correction factor is not EEC at the moment of launch and gives some horses. The real power is betwen 182 and 186 CV... But if you see "190" in the title of the video you happier!! :)
@pierangelo1981 Thanks for the info. I just picked mine up 2 weeks ago, still breaking it in. The discrepancy is not with your results but others I have seen. Perhaps you can answer this - until the break-in period is complete (1,000km) does the bike have FULL power but limited to 9,000rpm or is the power down a bit until it is fully 'unlocked?'
@preciselyfun obviously! power is closely linked to rpm. after the break-in period is complete you will have the full power of your bike. can you tell me which video you mean?
@pierangelo1981 I am aware that the actual full HP is not attained until you get into the higher RPM. Here's a better way of putting it - should the BMW not still pull away from a 2007 Yamaha R1 in any gear up until 9,000RPM? This is why I am curious about the power of the bike. At 750KM on the bike I had a few roll-ons with a friend riding my previous bike and the Yamaha seemed to pull away. The other dyno video I was mentioning is the following link:
@preciselyfun just in case if you havent read up on it, the bore-to-stroke ratio on the BMW is extremely oversquare in comparison to any jap liter 4, emphasizing on its sheer mechanical leverage of higher rpm capability. the r1's stroke is probably conservative in that its longer therefore increasing lower/ mid-range grunt, however when tuning (ignition and cam timing) come into play things can change....

@pierangelo1981 Couldn't attach the link. If you look under 'BMW s1000RR dyno' you'll find the one I mean.
