Christ had not yet died when Christ gave these instructions. This was not the gospel for the Church. The Church had not yet begun. They were ignited by the prospect of the kingdom for the Jews predominately. When Jesus ascended they asked will you at this time restore the kingdom. The Church is motivated by His death these men by hope of the kingdom on earth. Context, context, context.
Don't let yourself get so angry. I'm sure he doesn't think he's better than God's word. This guy has a good message. Be nice, and if you feel the need to correct your brother, do so lovingly. We are witnesses to Jesus Christ.
I am not angry....just capped up some words for emphasis. Yes, we are witnesses to Jesus Christ, Who did not hold back His own anger when God's house and Word were misused throughout Scriptural records. Don't let yourself be so nervous about anger; it can be a good thing. And....I was/am nice. I can't find anything unloving about saying that I will NEVER close my Bible during a sermon. Actually, that's a VERY loving statement.....showing love for the Word.
This guy made a BIG mistake is asking people to actually close their Bibles so that he could have their full attention. NEVER will I close my Bible during any sermon preached by anyone! What kind of man asks people to close their Bibles? I think only 1 kind - the kind that thinks THEIR words are more important than God's Word. This guy isn't worth his salt. He refers us to a MANMADE outline instead of to the Word........never, buddy.
When he says close your bible does he go and check that everyone closes their bible does he? Their are some people who don't have the level of understanding that you may have so he's baisically saying "Listen for a second whilst i give my interpretation" Your free to accept it or disregard it.
How could you believe that someone who has taken time to study and preach the word could ever believe they're above it?
I have seen & heard many preachers study through their filters and come out preaching like they are above it, so that's how I can believe that. It happens all the time. No, he doesn't go check everyone's Bible, but to even suggest that we close our Bibles is cultishly scary. If he wanted to say "listen for a second" then he could just say that. But, he told his audience to actually close the Word of God and that has far reaching implications.
I totally hear that, but your focusing on something totally irrelevant! The Word of God should settle inside us and produce good fruit!
I listened and totally realised how short i fall in Christ's call to follow! Hopefully many others did! When he speaks, its not him speaking, but rather the Holy Spirit inside of him with the authority of Christ!
"Lord, You are the potter and I am the clay. Forgive me for my selfishness. I consecrate my life to You afresh today. I give You permission to break me, mold me, bend me and make me according to Your perfect will. This is all the work of Your grace. I choose to embrace whatever circumstances You must send into my life in order to rid me of pride and self-will. I choose to live on Your altar. As I empty myself, I ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Amen"
LaneCh, Thanks for this much needed and timely video. It needs to be circulated in as many churches today as is humanly possible (especially the mega churches). Off-topic, can you please let me know if you have any videos on Matthew 24:24 (I hope I have it right), the one that says, "if it were possible, the very elect would be deceived"? I ask because I've heard a few ministers say that the 'Elect' "will" be deceived like everyone else. Something doesn't sound right. Thanks & God bless.
I don't have a video on it, but it's basically reading into the text to say that the elect will be deceived. It's presented in the Bible as a hypothetical. "If it were possible..." People read it incorrectly when they basically make it say, "It is going to happen..."
No problem. Just as an add on to what I've already said, too, the verse says, "If it were possible..." What it doesn't say is that it is possible. So to take it to "it's going to happen" when the verse doesn't even say that it's possible, is a stretch indeed.
Lane, is there any chance you could get a different audio feed of this? They screwed up the audio big time in part of it, about 3/4 of the way through...makes it hard to hear.
You mean place a different audio feed in this particular video now that it's already posted? No. Did you not see the big red annotation during that time that said the audio is messed up and when it would be back to normal?
Yes I know, I saw the note after I said that. I was listening not watching at that time.
But I looked at the spectrogam of it, and most of the mixup volume is on the left channel. I fixed that part so at least I can actually hear what is being said. It's not the prettiest audio now but at least I can hear it. Any chance you could remix it? I could send you the 2 min segment and you could insert it in there and make the original duck under it completely during that time period.
I have a question (sorry if you might think this is a stupid question, but it has been bothering me forever): Do you think that you can be saved by Jesus, if you turn to him, because you are afraid of going to hell? As we heard in the sermon, some turn to him to fix their lifes, which is a wrong reason. So maybe I am wrong too, for turning to him, because I am afraid of going to hell, because it is selfish. Please help!
I am in a conflict. Oftentimes I think I lack the Holy Spirit and God did not choose me to be saved- so what can I do anyways? Other times I think about God as creator of this world with all its wonders and that we are blessed to live at all. Then I feel a little guilty that I am sinning. I am continually asking myself, if I have a relation to Jesus. But it does not seem as if. I would not doubt so much.
What it sounds like to me is that you don't have a problem with salvation - you have a problem with assurance of your salvation. Remember, sanctification is a process, and one of the aspects of sanctification is assurance. Some people receive this sanctifying work right when they are justified. Others receive it later. Just because you are struggling with assurance, it doesn't mean that you're not assuredly saved.
Some people have assurance of their salvation right when they are saved. Others are saved, they believe in Christ, but they struggle with the assurance of their salvation. I honestly haven't met a Christian that hasn't struggled with assurance of their salvation at some point. Usually a person struggles with it, though, because they look to themselves for assurance instead of Christ's finished work.
the cost of bearing and wearing the name of Jesus Christ thru water baptism in Jesus name you will be hated by all man kind.. Thank God for making that all happen thru the cross I have that stain of Jesus written all over me... Do you have his name and bare his name with a Jesus name baptism? if you dont what are you waiting for today is the day of salvation.
what is the name of the narrator of the bible speaking parts? thanks.
