About Walt being on the carton: If you get the DVD/Bluray of Lost season 6, in the special features there is an extra scene that explains that. Those Dharma goods were being sent to the island long after the DI itself was gone. They didn't know not to send them because the only contact they had was an automated message. Part of it is here:
the first time i watched the entire series, i didnt notice many of these things, but if you watch it again, the second time around, you catch some amazing things that really help you understand lost more

There is indeed a connection between Kelvin Inman and the "CIA" agent (he is not a CIA agent, he just works for the U. S. Military).

You can even find all the references to religion, culture and literature that occur in LOST.
