JUST MISSED!!! "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night" just missed making the Billboard's Hot Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 14 weeks in the Hot Top 100 in 1966/67, it entered the charts on Dec. 10th, 1966!!!
Just came back from my first tour in vietnam & walking around San diego getting drunk & listening to all the neat psychedelic music & waiting to go back over again. I was really jealous of all those lucky college kids getting to mess around with all those college babes. You know what I still am 45 years later.
I love vinyl too and have hundreds of lp's still and beleive it or not over a couple hundred 8tracks and still listen to them still...they just keep me sane in a digital world.....
love this song. it was so great to be a teenager in the sixties. I wouldn't trade it for anyother decade before or since. it was also great to be a kid in the fifties and watch fifties teenagers have fun. no indeed....wouldn't swap those for any!
@wonderlin1 I watched woodstock a few nights ago and longed to go back to those days and times. not to be young agian in them but just be in those times. my god.....we have michele bachmann and perhaps sarah palin both with chances to actually be president..................I dont want to be here!
Awesome song! I saw the Electric Prunes Live in Concert at the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood in April 1966! It was also the first time I ever smoked pot! Wow! What a trippy evening that was!
One of my very first conversion songs when my playlist expanded to match my frame of mind and overall consumption of mind altering substances! Loved it.
Gotta love the old vinyl. There is something missing from the digital recordings that the vinyl had. Most of it is the "sheen" in the low end. The bass was "rubbery" with the vinyl, the CD and MP3 have lost that.
Try this...take the ending of the Sgt. Peppers album at the very end of the substained piano chord and bring in the beginning of this without any interuption..very trippy indeed. Did that in 1969, still have the reel to reel tape i did it on over 40 years ago :-)
@Sparky1002 Wow, creative work, man! I still like this music although I was born in the revolutionary year of 1968.....the vibes must have flown in though still!!!
i guess you'd call me an old Hippie, because I graduated in 1969 and I did actually wake up to songs such as these during that era. it's so amazing that they are still going strong 40 years later. Who knew? Thanks for posting.
I was born in 1964 and must have woke up to some trippy music in my ealy childhood. I think I barely remember waking up to the Beatle's Hello Goodbye and to Nancy Sinatra's Some Velvet Morning , when I was a tot
Im 15 and i've never heard such a beautiful sound....makes my eyes water and my heart feel....God whats wrong with the music in the present. I wonder if the world has gone deaf blind and dumb when it comes to true art.
Memories: this was coming from the AM radio while I was having my cereal, before walking to school. It was playing on the living room stereo "console" unit (with built-in black and white T.V. of course). My sister had the '45 too. A great song, and a cool video presentation. Thank you!
I've got the original vinyl LP with this song but haven't played it for years. It's great to see this video posted. One of the best psychedelic tracks ever!
I accidently clicked this video twice, and two windows opened a split second from each other, creating a very trippy echo effect. I really wish you could hear it right now
I am 48 years old.I find 60s psychedelic music very cool.I got hooked on it at an early age because I had older siblings who were always listening to the radio or playing their records
This is so great. I was like 16 or 17. Early radio friendly pschedilia, before middle america started catching on to what was really happening to their young people. Us. Came the dawn, and you were gone. Catch Eric Burdon's When I was Young.
Got a scratched-up (but sounds NM) copy of this at a flea market yesterday for $2. Great bargain, especially when it's on ePay for $12. This is also one of my favorite garage rock songs.
This song is sooooo ...... Mucho thanx. The sitar sounding flourishes don't come across on the live recordings. Wonder if one of the prunes actually played the sitar?

Hey Mojoman. I used to listen to you under the covers with my transistor radio to my ear, living on a farm outside of Camden Ohio. You were so dangerous - so counter-cultural. And yes, Jenny Rose. The pale pink lipstick, white eye shade, tight cashmere sweaters.... and the perfume wafting through the school bus. Oh Mojo, such a scandal it was!
