@steveman03 Yeah, it doesn't take long for salt to work it's way through the ice... even just sitting on top of the ice so there's something for the tires to grip onto.
@elr2141979 The dark truck slid there out of control earlier. There were cars further up and down the hill that slid / stopped in odd places. Once those vehicles were stopped, the drivers wouldn't dare trying to move them... start moving and you never know where you'll end up or what you'll crash in to further down the hill.
@elr2141979 uhhhh....for the same reason yellow truck "parked" itself next to it,maybe... duh! @ 0:26 you could see smoke and lights from black pick-up ,meaning somebody is sitting in that truck which came to a stop after sliding on ice.
Most the time, if your tryin to get up a ice hill and you have a spreader, you go up it backwards spreading your salt and sand for your wheels to get traction on as your doing the hill. that way you have a fresh patch to get traction on that ice....
You know what? EVERYONE should do this. Carry a couple sand bags in their SUV's. Open the hatch, drive up the hill in reverse as the passenger throws salt on the ground as you climb the hill, also helping others to get up the hill too.
I have a Soft-top, Isuzu Amigo 4x4 5-speed with a removable back window, lifted with Mud terrains. I'll always carry a passenger now! :D
@BubonicPlague88 lol... well the DOT around here drive backwards with a spreader truck to gain traction on slippery hills, JUST the hills, not all the roads! so they can get the stuff on the road around here, alow better then tryin to fight it uphill. on ice,, but i like the carry passengers in the trunk with some sand and shovels in the back, while driving backwards idea,
Two axles both powered = 4 wd. you could have duals on the front also, still wont make it 8 wd. It is the # of POWERED axles to TOTAL axles, One wheel on each end of axle. Duals count as ONE wheel. 3 axle dumptruck w/3 axles, 10 wheels 2 nondrive wheels on front, 2 axles on back, duals on each side = 8 wheels, this is a 4 X 6. 2 powered axles with 4 wheel positions and 1 unpowered axle with 2 wheel positions. total power positions 4 out of a total of 6 on the vehicle
@LanciaTek If you have "posi-traction" / locking drive train where if one wheel starts to spin, the power is then transferred to the opposite wheel, that helps a lot as long as the other wheel is on a surface that you can get traction, or if you're going down the hill, getting one set of tires off onto the shoulder or somewhere you can get some traction, you can "brake" and not loose control. It can be extremely difficult to control once you start to slide on ice.
If skidding might be the cause of accident, they should put on the car with a tool to prevent it. I would like to know how to let them know the tool which is after Canadian Patent 1335455.
This looks like it is in Halifax Nova Scotia.

Yellow Truck: "Hey there, buddy. Enjoyin' the weather up here?"
Black Truck: "Hey hey, just peachy. Tryin' to survive this hill without killing myself."
Yellow Truck: "Yeah, I hear ya. So it looks like we are in a predicament..."
Black Truck: "Indeed, it appears so. You are about to hit me. Hmmn..Predicament indeed..."

does it help if u put one side of the tires in the grass and have the other two on the road? do u get better traction maybe?
