@bluesguitarist93: I LOVE the way Kirk Fletcher plays the guitar. He's what I call an "old soul" and is very connected to the blues and is a very in-demand player - I bought Kirk's latest CD, have met him @ various music festivals. Milton, was also one of my fave bluesmeisters. I was @ his last festival performance, and my husband, who is a professional photographers' picture was used on the DVD of Milton's last performance at the North Atlantic Blues Festival in Rockland, Maine, 2005.
They say the Blues ain't nothin', but a good man feelin' bad. That don't have anything to do with your creed or color. The blues is Universal, no matter your religion or background, so if you love the blues, continue to love the blues, and if you play the blues, please continue to play the blues. Eventually, we all have to heal, but the road we take to healing is what defines us!!!!
i am sixty and this grew on me....especially when my mom was put in a nursing home, because of altzhiemers diseasel. this was her and my daddy' music. i would get her every sunday if not the weekend, for a stay over and the blues was on w/rogene bailey...atlanta,ga....we jammed;-0
I played harp in the New Dolphin Inn, early 90's, in Logan Heights, San Deigo, with TomCat Courtney, Chis James and Fred Heap and this is the first song that came out of the jukebox when we took a break. The next most popular was, "I KIcked the Habit" by Buddy Ace...I would give anything to have that juke box and its selections right now...
This,s, one of my opening songs when i play my blues,at reunions, old school parties, etc. Its one of my anthems. As a child i Would sit around wit my grand parents and listen 2 da blues, baby. Otis Clay,Koko Taylor,John Lee,baby. Im cleaning out my granny's store house rite now, gonna make it a juke joint, baby. MaDAME BROWN,GURL D.J.,DOWN HURR N TEXAS,.BABY. F, IT WASNT 4 DIS MUSIC I,WOULD QUIT.
@Brittneyb1221 Where in Texas? I've got a blues band, and we are starting to plan some shows for next summer. If it aint to far, we might see about playin. Gotta love those old juke joints.
This shout out is for ... ( crzy2364 ).. I just want to say thank you so much, for the chills you gave me today... bless you...i just love the blues... and i want to say... Bravo!! bravo! to you....for putin in the work for us to enjoy this great music,,, so my Hat is off to you .... thank you and God Bless... your buddy... Giorgio.... from Calif.
@bluesguitarist93 Hey buddy, I'm a 51 yr. old black guy, my baby brother is Kirk Fletcher, one of todays baddest blues guitarist, he started playing or trying to play while he was still in diapers, I've heard and met some of the best blues players out there, young "White" guys, Keep playing them Blues son, it's all about what's inside that matters, nobody had a choice as to what race they would be born into, that is why being prejudice is so stupid!!!
@cetricf You have hit the nail on the head. Music transcends all barriers, be they racial, cultural, colour or geographical. Good music is good music, no matter what the genre and this is amongst the best.
@cetricf Your baby brother is Kirk Fletcher- God bless you. I have just started getting into him- Music Choice on Comcast cable has a blues channel that plays him regulary. He is indeed a real badass.
@cetricf God bless you BG93, I am so white my legs would blind you, but I think I'm a black gal trapped in a white gal's body sometimes. I love my mostly black church, I love this music, I love many other cultures too. There is is much more to enjoy in life than one flavor of anything! <3
Superb! You probably already know but there is a music video of sorts for this song on the Wattstax documentary ( Stax records played a concert in Watts ). It has Little Milton miming to Walkin The Backstreets along with a dramatic video :)
An absolute "Blues Classic", reproduction should not be attempted, "by anybody", yall understand that (smile).

Milton is one of my favorites. His voice has so much expression, and his guitar is understated and tasty.
