  • Hi Person who will be performing Clar on the town. I hope the judges aren't "note literalists" since I did a bit of improv on the blues section and most others play it straight, which I find boring and stilited. Good luck and knock them out. Let me know how it goes.

  • I have 2 months to sound like this for my Region Solo&Ensemble Competition. Haha this video is waaayy helpful for me in practicing, so thank you (:

  • I, Phil, discovered 2 earlier recordings of my performances: 1983 Oct 18 at McGee Secondary in Vancouver, the speed was 132 beats per min or a bit more and seemed rushed. The second was 1984 Nov 6 and the speed was about 120 or a bit more. I currently perform between 116 and 120. This feels about right. I have increased my improve license with the blues section, not being held captive by the tyranny of the notes (a classically training trap): "play the music & not just the notes."

  • Excellent. I have been given the task to play this for the volunteer band i play for here in Gibraltar. I is great to hear it being played to such an excellent standard. I have a lot of work ahead of me!

  • Hi Phil this is great im really enjoying this. I like the sound in this outdoors concert even better then the first. . Good on you mate!! It is so many years since i heard you play what a treat! Paul C.Victoria
