@spiegeltn Allow me to use a metaphor. We are looking at a table with nothing on it. You claim that there is an intangible, invisible apple on the table. I say prove it. You havn't so far and you likely never will. Why? Because chances are that this apple doesn't exist. @spiegeltn Allow me to use a metaphor. We are looking at a table with nothing on it. You claim that there is an intangible, invisible apple on the table. I say prove it. You havn't so far and you likely never will. Why? Because chances are that this apple doesn't exist. If scientific evidence was found to the contrary, and that this apple did afterall exist, I would change my mind. Lacking belief in claims is the default position, and so I atheistic towards the claim 'there is a god'.

@spiegeltn The Mammoth was not a dinosaur and did not live during the Mesozoic era when the dinosaurs ruled the Earth. Mammoths were actually a member of the Eliphantidae family and did not become extinct until about 6000 years ago. Cave man drawings have been found that clearly depict the Mammoth.

Whether or not any militant atheists actually believe with 100% certainty that a god doesnt exist depends on the person. Richard Dawkins is often called a militant atheist, yet in his book, The God Delusion, he clearly states that he is not 100% sure that god doesnt exist. I think that 'militant atheism' is just a stance that religion is harmful to our species and should be gone

when it comes down to it, even the most devout and intelligent theist will tell you that they rely on faith to maintain their beliefs. since faith is inherently illogical, logic will not make someone with even average faith question their beliefs. In the end, that person must make a decision within themselves that IN GENERAL "just because" is never an answer to a problem - whether it involves politics, family, school, religion, anything. Denying your faith requires a paradigm shift in reasoning.
