Have you ever even been in the hood? Most kids don't have their fathers around. Period. I don't know what it's like where you live, but here in Philly there is a severe lack of dads (true though, absentee fathers are probably not as common as most white people think), and it's hurting the kids.
Majority of black men are deadbeats. I recognize the men who are fathers to their sons and don't run from responsibility like cowards, but please understand real fathers are not in the majority. It's a sad fact and unfortunately it's been this way for a while.
Sorry twim20, sorry to disappoint you but I had a dead-beat black father and so did all of my school friends and I am not american. Black men are mostly raised by single parenting women who make them think they are the salt of the earth, instead of being responsible citizens. Education can change that, and hopefully will one day. The problem is government programs are empowering people to be lazy, and the education system sucks.

I am a father. One employed for 17 years as a school counselor. I started at a new school. I was just RIFFED! So what about the responsibility of a father who is now unemployed? Have you ever even been in the hood? Most kids don't have their fathers around. Period. I don't know what it's like where you live, but here in Philly there is a severe lack of dads (true though, absentee fathers are probably not as common as most white people think), and it's hurting the kids.

Black men are mostly raised by single parenting women who make them think they are the salt of the earth, instead of being responsible citizens. They go out and father kids and bring them home so that their own mamas can raise them! What can I tell you? Responsible black men are the minority.

I think the barbeque was a great idea. Its best to lead by example and that includes fatherhood. On the lighter side. I am a father. One employed for 17 years as a school counselor. I started at a new school. I was just RIFFED! So what about the responsibility of a father who is now unemployed? It's hard to believe in an education system that is so broke they have to lay off a counselor! Oh well I am thankful I am a father and sure hope that might help get me back to work!
