  • In 1985 I was torn between buying one of these and the Wheelwriter. Bought the Wheelwriter 5, glad I did. This technology went nowhere in typewriters, was very expensive to use, and supplies and repair now are basically extinct. Interesting idea, though!

  • That's a gay looking ipod

  • @CoolConejo .......the fuck?

  • Holy crap that thing is massive. She might as well get a PC.

  • At that time, to do what the typewriter could do, with a PC, would have taken even more space. System Unit, Monitor, Keyboard (you could get away with no mouse, Windows was in infancy), AND most importantly, a letter-quality Printer. Cost for above PC system far in excess of the Typewriter, plus the typewriter was instant-ready. PC, around 5 minutes boot up. They did make a Quietwriter Printer (same machine, no keyboard), but both were expensive to run because the ribbons were very unique.

  • I thought everybody had computers in 1985.

  • @2010mustang2 I think of the 80's as that "transition decade" between typewriters and computers, so I feel that in 1985, it was about half typewriters and half computers.

  • @2010mustang2 No not at all.

  • the wheelwriter 3 series was quiet but because of the plastic lid on top lol
