So you REALLY think Yuna didn't deserve to win? Veterans acknowledge her talent. People around the world love her. She performed flawlessly in both SP and FS. Mao made several mistakes and if you really look at individual scores.. u can see why there was a huge gap between Yuna's score and Mao's score. Stop this nonsense. Yuna Kim deserved to win that competition. Stop arguing. She's the olympic champion. Mao fans should CHILL and stop insulting Yuna. It's really immature.
@currentgem As a professional dancer and from a dancer/artist's point of view Ms. Frankel is just expressing her opinion and she has a right to do so. Why do we have to unanimously praise Kim? Are you fascist? Who are you to say "stop arguing"? Why do you need borrowed authority like Hamilton said this or Yamaguchi said that to justify your opinion? It's clear Kim could never extend her leg like Asada does, spin like Czisny, step like Kostner. You can't fool eyes of a real artist.

(cont) and she performs flawlessly. Did you know that Yuna Kim was never placed off the podium in her entire career? Yes, including her junior years. Also, you mentioned Scott Hamilton. SCOTT Hamilton (an olympic champion), praises Yuna and thinks Yuna Kim is better than Mao Asada. Why do you think that is? He's a veteran and knows about figure skating more than anyone else here. Michelle Kwan also praises Yuna Kim a lot. Kristi Yamaguchi (another olympic champion) praises her too.

You guys are so foolish... I'm Canadian and I think Yuna deserved to win the olympic gold medal. This woman clearly has no idea about figure skating. Figure skating is an art, but ALSO a sport! Do you jump in the air for 3 times or more in ballet? Heck no. Emily, dancing and figure skating... they are clearly DIFFERENT. What Yuna did well was she executed extremely well in all her components. Her speed and ice coverage on the ice are ENORMOUS. Her artistic skills are absolutely great and..

I's MOw not Mayo. "artistry" is subjective. Mao skates like a ballerina than she should stick with dance. In figure skating it's not just about having ballerina movements that bring home the Olympic gold. In figure skating it's about athleticism, artistry, charisma. IMO Yuna won the Olympic gold because she did a superb, clean performance. Looks mean nothing! There are plenty of good looking girls who skate so don't make it as though looks play a factor in this sport. You speak vainly.
i must say that i totally agree with ms. frankel. there's an inevitable difference between the two, and that's something you feel inside techniques aside although mao asada is technically the best female figure skater ever walked on the face of the earth. yuna kim is clearly overrated by the judges. i feel ashamed to see how my fellow koreans can get so cocky and ignorant despite of the widely accepted knowledge among non-koreans: kim is actually not that good as to the same extent as asada.
I personally think mao is a better dancer as well. but talking about artistry its often very difficult. some people adore Chopin, but some other prefer Beethoven. this time, yuna was preferred. GOE scoring system is also a factor that scale artistry. mao's soft jumps were not considered "beautiful" in the past few seasons while yuna's dynamic jumps were. i can never imagine yuna gets on a stage as a dancer, but mao can be a top dancer if she wants to be.
people seem to like talking about who is athletic/artistic more. i think, to be a good dancer you have to train your body so that you can use your body exactly how you need for showing us what you want to show, like a sprinter trains to run 1/100 sec faster.
Mao has both athletic technique and "balletic" grace, and keeps pushing her limits. she is a dancer, an athlete showing us artistry.
I totally agree with most of things which Emily mentioned, but I don't agree Mao deserved the gold. She did 3A and skated beautiful program but she made 2 mistakes, Yuna didn't make anyone so she should have won. However obviously Mao always gets too low scores
You'll just need to do some more research... You'll find that figureskating is not just an art but also a sport. If you look through other performance by Yuna you'll see how artistic Yuna is. Also, figureskating is also about how much ice you cover and your speed... Mao also made a mistake on her jumps/transitions twice on her LP. Even in Japan's interview with both 2 years ago, they talk about how Kim is better artistic than Mao. Also, Mao is pronounced like "Maaao" not "Meo" :)
Thanks Emily. As the ranking of ice dancing is always decided before the competition, Kim-Yuna's gold was decided before the short program at the Vancouver. Who can explain the difference in points on the short program? Kim and her surround even got tons of money from Lloyd Bank because she made the new world record at the Vancouver. Figure skating is getting dirtier than it was at the Salt Lake.
emily i love u finally sombody who say the true mao is a artis she is like a ballet dancer and becouse that i love her yuna is a ???? i don´t have nothin to say about yuna mao is my reall winner
These arguments between two uber-fans won't have any productive conclusions, except promoting hatred and emptiness. I respect that we all have freedom of speech and press, but sometimes I feel that "those granted rights" need little restrictions. We can hurt each other to death by putting words in each other's mouth. But for what? Our personal glory and revenge? Is this why God created us? Can't you see Emily Frankel or whatever her name is trying to damage Yu-Na's and Mao's fans?
The way I look at it, those fans are super obsessive and they motivate such rivalry between Yu-Na and Mao, just like other top atheletes in a particular sport, or certain teams, etc. I understand Japan and Korea don't have a good relationship, and I think aftermath of Olympics made it lot worse....starting from this senseless Emily Frankel's video here.
I can put Yu-Na Kim and Mao Asada's drama in one sentence. "It's uber-fans running off at the mouth". Both are posturing to put their skater up and dismiss the main competitor. It's similar to what Yankee fans do:brag about their team and put down all other teams. Both of their fans are duking it out on social networking sites such as Youtube.
Well, Emily didn't blame Yuna. She didn't say anything bad about Yuna, did she?
But from the viewpoint of art, ballet, Mao is a better dancer. That's it. And I agree with that. Further than that, I don't think Yuna is a better jumper just because she can jump 3Lz. Her flip is not a clean flip and she has no 3Lo. No need to say 3A. Yuna also has problems with her jump too. But strange enough, even when she severely underrotated her jumps(like 3S) and fall, she never gets DG. World 2010.
@TaikogeMan Figure skating is not dancing. If you want to watch dancing, along with Emily, watch "Dancing with Stars" or ice dancing. Figure skating is a performance with complicated components. Everyone knows Yuna is more artistic than Mao is. I don't even think Mao is a better dancer than Yuna is. Your comment is untruthful. Yuna fell after she fully rotated 3S in her FS in worlds 2010. Then why it would be downgraded? There would be negative GOE only.
@TaikogeMan Well, mao does not have clean lutz. nor salchow nor clean 3A nor clean flip. and for your information... 3S is meant to have 2 and half revolutions. and please do recheck to the protocols, she has downgraded for her unsuccessful jumps as well. (maybe you were looking at the wrong protocol).
@TaikogeMan she is not blame yuna mao asada arabescas are amazing that´s tru mao asada is and artis is true yuna is hot is true i guess mao asada is an artis taht´s super tru
These two things seem to be missing when Mao skates, like she is just going through the moves of her program instead of feeling emotions and presenting them; this makes Mao more technical player.
thinks a lot. your explanations are clear and easy to understand. i'm not going to join the people who are eager to know which is superior ,mao or yu-na. coz both skaters have gift and place to perform given by god. and tiime and hard training they cost deserve prizes they got in canada.(sorry, but i dont believe in any kind of god.)
Yu-Na's weakness is her inflexibility, but the lines of her body she creates are very pleasing to judges; her jump techniques are just perfect with clean and tidy rotation position and solid landing. What sets her apart from Mao and others is her musicality and passion, both of which are apparent.
My first thought to this.......it's undeniable that Mao has a better flexibility than Yu-Na. She even talked about it on a show that Mao is more flexible. But that doesn't mean that Mao is a better skater than Yu-Na. Some skaters have better skills than others in different areas. For instance, one of the Mao's weakness is that she tends to take off at a wrong edge, which will ultimately lead her to unclear landing. Japanese medias and skating experts constantly pointed it out her problems.
Her comment is ridiculous and has insulted figure skating fans. It doesn't matter Frankel is a dance expert or not. Figure skating is NOT dancing. Figure skating is much more than dancing. If you want to make comments on figure skating, do so on ice dancing only. Everyone has a different opinion, but we should be careful when discuss in public what we don't know about. Anyway, I don't even think Asada is a better dancer than Kim is.
Cultfran22, thanks for the upload. Emily, I translated everthing you said in this vid into Japanese in my blog, and Mao fans reading it are so thrilled by what you had to say. Alot of us thought quite the same as you, but sometimes I wasn't even sure if I only wanted to think that way cause I'm a Mao fan. But I can be more confident about how I feel from now on since an expert in dancing like you seem to feel the same. Thank you, I learned alot from your words.
@TaikogeMan When some skater URs her 3-3, she's never DGed. And when she is, they complain and say the tech specialist (who's not Japanese) hate her. Funny isn't it?
@kaoruzinha Who are we talking about? Yuna's 3-3 combo is one of the best in history! Let's ask Ksenia Makarova why she's ready to learn that combo next season, even herself wanted to do it because it's going to help her!
@jammerakwaii ROTFLMAO How can you say that??? She complained about it in public!!! Yuna is the queen of complaints, everyone knows that. She even accuses skaters of sabotage. Now you talk as if Mao complained about anything.
@kaoruzinha Queen of complaints...right...can you give a concrete proof in that? From her OWN words? The way you're posting, it's more than just hate. No wonder why and other sore loossers are eating so much crap from Youtube! Cry, cry, and cry! LOL.
@jammerakwaii Orser compared Yuna's and Miki's combos on Korean TV. After GPF Yuna stated in an interview that her combo was correct (implied she shouldn't have gotten DG). She accused others of impeding her warmup (twice!). Isn't it enough? Yeah, I don't like Yuna, and I have this right. Did I offend her though? I don't think so.
@kaoruzinha Ahhhh.. Korean TV..I understand Korean. And no it was the Japanese media who distorted and misinterpreted her words and implied that she was complaining. See......and now finally, you admit you don't like Yuna. You whined about Sandra being biased and here you are b!tching about Yuna. We're getting somewhere! LOL.
@jammerakwaii I'm no TV comentator, I can have my preferences. What about the warmup story? I know, you'll say she was innocent again. She's always innocent. You know what hurts? Seeing a talented, honest, hardworker girl like Mao being humilliated just because judges don't find her programs "cute" (of course, they can't understand the story behind Bells). But I believe god stays long, but strikes at last, and only real talents survive, while some who receive so much hype are easily forgotten.
@kaoruzinha You're right, Mao is the only one who works hard..delusional. Real talents like Yuna had to endure countless injuries, with no fed support financially for her training, no personal ice rink like Mao, and had to sacrifice her family and friends in Korea to train in Toronto. And here she is, survived the pressure from millions of her countrymen, and never missed a podium in her entire career! Can I go on?
@jammerakwaii The Aurora Ice Rink at Nagoya is not Mao's personal rink. It is shared between the majority of the top skaters, primarily those in the Aichi area (Mao, Miki, Takahiko, Kanako Murakami, etc.).
Get your facts checked before you embarrass yourself on the internet. Thanks.
She's also misinformed in that Korea was only praising her. Funny enough, ironically, Korea likes to criticize and bring rumors into her career more than other countries. And more than praising her as the 'beautiful girl', they wanted her to win the gold medal against a Japanese skater. See, that's not praise, that's PRESSURE. And she shattered it, by delivering 2 clean programs. I think she needs to go watch Ice Dance, not Figure skating, if she wants to judge from a dancer's perspective.
With all due respect, I think her comments are flawed from the beginning. It's FIGURE SKATING, not DANCING. I think she needs to first go and study what the differences are. I agree with the flexibility part though. MAO (not mayo) is definitely more flexible than Kim, and therefore has better spirals and spins. But artistically, Kim is far more superior than Mao. Even all the figure experts say that Kim is a ballerina on ice, because of her long arms, legs and even her fingertips.
this argument isn't valid because Mao completely botched two jumping passes in the LP and Yuna had two clean program, it's a point based system, Mao gave up about 10 points in her mistakes
Fair & square-san, that dominated PCS is sceptical to us-that's the point. By the way if Emily finds Yuna is technically better than Mao, she wouldn't state flatly that Yuna is a wrong choice just because Mao's artistic impression looks better to her. It's her overall impression, I reckon. Yuna fans would say she won because her artistic skills outweighed Mao and that's more important than pursuing the higher state of athletics(e.g. doing 3A) , and now say FIGURE SKATING IS A SPORT!? Yes it is.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
She's commenting on a dancer's point of view, not as a figure skater which she is not. Figure skating is more than just dancing on ice, there's also technicality there. There are jumps, spins, spirals, transitions, sequences, etc. I did not hear her mention any of that, she was just talking about their bodies, criticzing the commentators and talking about why it's the wrong girl who won. She could have calculated their scores, the level of diffculty of the jumps, spins, spirals, transitions, etc
@kaoruzinha Because Yuna's majority points came from her super GOES!!! She had all that criteria under the scoring system which by the way was implemented way before Yuna is on top! Can you understand that?
@jammerakwaii Yeah. Those 17+ absurd GOEs. That was really pathetic. And everyone knows the system did not reward risk. That's why she got 150 (!!!) with three 2As.
point by point the same that so many people think.
Mao is not just skating over the ice full of grace, Mao is about art, about real passion for skating, tecnic, difficult programs that only she can perform.
when i see Yu Na , it´s beautifull. When i see Mao i just can feel the real passion she has for skating, she is not tired, she is looking for the perfection and keeps improving what looks almost perfect.
People, Vancouver Olympics had the right podium. Yuna deserved the gold. Mao deserved the silver. Joannie deserved the bronze. Every skating expect agreed on that. Now, in terms of the artistic side of figure skating, it's correct, everything is subjective. Emily has her opinion but even herself agreed that she's no figure skating expert. Figure Skating should be 50 percent Art, 50 percent Technical. And it should be a sport. If it's not then why is figure skating an Olympic Sport?
@MultiGreenface Exactly! Figure Skating is a SPORT. It wouldn't be in the Olympics if it's a dance contest! It's an athletic competition. Artistry is subjective. No matter what..Mao fans will agree with Emily, in the end you just can't accept the fact that Yuna beat her fair and square!!!!!
@frmrszk If Firgure skating is only ART, and by the way it's subjective, you shouldn't have called Figure skating a SPORT. Idiot. Many sore loosssers around here. Now, the Japanese Federation are manipulating the scores next season to favor Asada. Yuna won fair and square. No matter how you whine and whine.
@jammerakwaii I don't get your point. A woman gave her opinion. Why are you bashing her and the ones who agree with her? Go comment on Scott Hamilton videos.
@jammerakwaii One more thing. Old rules benefitted skaters like Yuna and Lysacek, that's why they got those pathetic scores in the olympics. Now rules are changing to make the sport fairer, not to favor anyone like they did in the past seasons.
@kaoruzinha Fair?? You mean the Japanese Federation sneakingly went to the Tech Committee to approve their desire to benefit Asada next season! You said that Yuna benefited from the old rules, when in fact it was already implemented way before she's on top! You need to do some research honey and other sore losers. When you have a strong fed like Asada you can do anything you want, like manipulating the rules!
@kaoruzinha Go and read the Skating community. They will tell you that the old rules were for everyone because of the scandal from Salt Lake City Olympics! The old rules didn't benefit anyone. Yuna and her team had to work hard to adjust with all these rules. She didn't have a STRONG Federation that will back her up nor her country had a history of Figure Skating unlike Japan!!!!!
@jammerakwaii Tell me when the old rules rewarded some kind of risk. How many men do quads nowadays? That resulted in a male champion with no quad and a female champion with three 2As.
@kaoruzinha Risk? You mean Asada's under rotated triple axles? What's the difference from the 2A's if you're 3A's are under rotated? How can you reward jumps that are not even 3A's in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
@jammerakwaii They were nor UR, my dear. Her 3As are acceptable. Don't be jealous just because Yuna can't do them (maybe some day...). And don't say judges were generous to Mao, cause she got unfair downgrade in Torino and even in Japan nationals (by Japanese tech specialist).
@kaoruzinha You said that Mao had an unfair downgrade from her 3A's by the Japanase tech specialist. So, you mean that the Japanese tech was unfair to Mao? LOL. Because they're under rotated! LOL. And relax, with these new rules, even an under rotated 3A's will be okay. See...you should thank the Japanese Fed for that! LOL.
@jammerakwaii Btw, since you refuse to do math, I'll tell you. With 2.0 factor, Yuna would've gotten around 168. Lysacek got 167 with 8 jumping passes, including 3As. Yuna had 7 passes and three 2As. And don't tell me "they're different blah blah blah" cause all base values are equal, the only difference is PCs factor. Now continue illuding yourself that "her score was deserved".
@kaoruzinha Again, you don't need to compare the men and the women! Why are you and others here in Youtube sooo bothered about Yuna's scores and interpreted it like the men? Lysacek is competing with the men and not Yuna!!!!! LOL.
@jammerakwaii Don't fool yourself. I just made a comparison to show you how ridiculous how scores were. BVs are the same, everything is the same, except for PCs factor. Can you read???
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@kaoruzinha But you keep on blabbing about the men and women scores. No one cares except some disgruntled Mao fans who are until now just can't accept that Yuna won the Olympics. You won't even care if she's not a Korean. If she's an American you would have to move on! LOL.
@jammerakwaii Just one more thing. No one cares, cause they don't want to. If Yuna were Russian, they'd be yelling everywhere about how overscored she was.
lol How pathetic. Removing my comments and telling yourselves lies again and agian to cover up the reality. The whole figure skating world knows who's the real champion. Name ONE figure skating legend that share your thoughts. Oh wait, did korea buy those people too? lol May that poor attitude got no gold for Japan in Vancouver despite crazy money you invest and all those top notch facilities since Nagano. BTW if you like Emily so much please watch her other videos too that has only 50 views.
Everyone knows, it has been understood. Who is a correct gold medallist is understood. I doubted judges' Justice. I wanted to say that I agree with everything Emily had said. Thank you.
it is ungreatful for her to judge Yuna like that without knowing what she's been thorugh all these years to get to this point. By her standards it muct shock her that Alissa czisny and Sasha Cohen didn't make the olympic team. Also, even after watching the long program and this "expert" still thinks Mao Asada is a better dancer and an artist? Did she even watch the games? If you really think Asada's Bells of Moscow performance beats Yuna's Gershwin artistically, you seriously have weird taste
Also, this whole video just proves that she watched JUST the olympics and started judging those skaters. Yuna's confident becuase she's told she's good??? Because her country worships her?? I think she got the order wrong. Her country loves her because she's good, not the other way around. Also, she didn't have a single sponsor until mid 2007 (even after the world record sp at 2007 worlds) while Mao got crazy support from Japanese government and told over and over she is the best in the world.
Anyways, does she even know who Sandra Bezic is??? The legendary choreographer who choreographed Brian Boitano (1988 Olympics), Kristi Yamaguchi (1992 Olympics), Kurt Browning (1993 Worlds), and Tara Lipinski (1998 Olympics). When it comes to figure skating, she DOES know it all. If Emily thinks "I'm so happy" face on Mao Asada during her sp to Masquerade Suite (yes, tragic Masquerade Suite!) and her failed attemp to interpret The Bells of Moscow are artistic, then i don't know what to say.
@star915 Sandra could have choreographed even for the Pope, it doesn't change the fact that she is biased, and should show a little bit of respect for the other skaters.
@kaoruzinha NBC is an American network! LOL. BBC, CTV and the Eurosport favored Yuna and they all said she deserved the gold. All the newspapers like the NY times, even Phil Hersh said that Yuna was above everyone else. You think that Hyundai sponsored them too? Hahahahaha! You're delusional!
@jammerakwaii First of all, I was talking about Sandra's biased comments. Second Eurosport guys also criticized Mao's low scores in Worlds, they even said that it was probably because her name was not "Yuna".
@kaoruzinha Again, Sandra is an expert of figure skating. She's not the only one who praised Yuna! Yamaguchi, Fleming, etc praised Yuna! So, they're biased too? Frankel is a DANCER, not a figure skater, not an expert. And why are we talking about Worlds? We're talking about the Olympics because this video talks about the Olympics!!
@jammerakwaii Let me clear something. I don't think Mao should've won olys (altough seeing 150 just before her presentation must have destroyed her and damaged her nerves). But I can't accept those scores. Did you know that if Yuna were in men's competition she would have won men's LP? And how could she get more points than Mao in Torino LP with that garbage she performed? And then you dare to say it was all honest??? That KSU didn't lobby for that? Give me a break.
@kaoruzinha LOL KSU lobbying for that! Jezuz. You should know your facts. KSU is not even that powerful. They didn't even finance Yuna from her training! LOL. And Yuna winning the men's competition? You do realize that the men and women are different. They're scoring are different. Regarding the Worlds, Yuna's PCS were better. Because they hated Mao's Bell's of Moscow for the entire season! Even Browning commented on that! LOL.
@jammerakwaii Don't be ridiculous! You calim Mao deserved 2nd in olys cause she made two big mistakes, and in Worlds Yuna made two big mistakes and got more points than her. Just a bit more and judges would've given it to her. I bet they were frustrated.
@kaoruzinha Again, you can also put Mirai in the same category. If some of you bothered that Yuna beat Mao on her LP at the Worlds with mistakes, what about Mirai who was clean on her LP at the Olympics and yet Asada had better scores!
@jammerakwaii Mirai is still young and hasn't reached Mao's artistic expression yet. As Emily said. Plus, even with two mistakes, Mao's base value was not 2 points less than Mirai's.
I agree. Yu-na Kim can dance well with music, which is her unique character but her skating skills are not as good as Mao's. Just stop watching the way we watch them on TV and start comparing them on videos by every elements; positions of spins, edges, choreographies over skating, numbers of rowing before jumping, ... . See who does the different things! Yu-na's 3-3 is very good, but other skaters can do it, too. None does 3A but Mao and why the basic score is lower than Yuna's 3-3?
@midorimar lol Yuna has better edges, skating skills, choreography, and better sitspin. Just ask any other people who watch figure skating and they'll tell you the same thing (except Japanese fans). Also, Mao knew that Yuna's 3-3 is worth more and in fact, 3-3 Mao used to do (3f-3l) is worth even more than Yuna's 3lz-3t and yet she decided not to do it becuase she can't complete the rotation on her second jump. NO 3lz either(wrong edge), no 3sal, no 3-3, no 2-3.
Does Yu-na have the better sitspin than Mao at all? Mao quit 3-3 because it was only continuously unnecessarily been downgraded by judges. On the contrary Yu-na's 3-3s have never been downgraded even not fully rotated.
Yeah, it's all up to judges, and commentators on TV/controlled mass media supported by sponsors (Koreans?).
@midorimar Oh yeah American, Canadian, German, French, Dutch, British media are alll supported by korean sponsers?? lol What a typical story from Japanese (Korea bought this and that). Yuna's 3-3 always stayed within 1/4 range while Mao's have not. Look at ISU sponsors. Can you find a single korean compnay? In fact I don't think korea's rich enough to do what you just said. Anyways, I know im outnumbered here among Mao fan's but get ur facts right.
@star915 Yuna is not only one who's been struggling.... so are other best skaters. If you insist on her story (her challenge for 3A in vain or her claims on other skaters messing around her?), we'd insist that Mao is the one who's struggling with the series of unfair rule-changes and downgrades for the sake of Yuya, and Mao's overcome one by one. By the way it's easy to name one Korean company, isn't it? and I believe they can afford it even if they're window-dressed.
@midorimar I DID watch the comparison videos, and that's precisely the reason I know Kim's better. Others may execute the 3-3, but not as WELL as Kim. That's the whole point with this new scoring system. It's designed to base the scores on how WELL you execute them, and Kim executes them WELL, hence her GOE's. Mao ends the combo with a double, which is still half revolution less than Kim's 3-3. That's why it's worth less.
Figure Skating is just about dancing? LOL. Frankel is a dance expert, not a figure skater, not an expert of this sport. And Mao is not better artistically. She doesn't have the spark when she performs. Why can just people accept that Yuna won fair and square!
@jammerakwaii Frankel surely understands a lot about art, which is something you always claim is part of Yuna's talents. And I'm sure she understands it better than you.
@kaoruzinha Who says Frankel is not an expert? I didn't say that. Again I repeat, she's a DANCER, not a Figure Skater!!!!!! There's a big difference! Figure skating is a SPORT. If you want to give weight to dancing instead of the actual skating itself then I suggest Mao should have join the Dance contest! To indicate that Mao should have won Gold is ridiculous. Mao made 2 mistakes on her LP. EVERYONE would agree that Yuna won fair and square.
@warren1122report You can also argue with Mirai who had a clean LP at the Olympics and yet Mao had a better scores more than her. How do you think about that???
@warren1122report Because Yuna a better PCS than Mao. You may disagree with that but Mao's Bells of Moscow didn't work. That's why Lori Nichol will choreograph her LP next season! And some of her fans are blaming TAT because of the choices she made! Again, the same logic will apply to Mirai and Mao, Mirai was clean at the Olympics and yet Asada had better scores. Both Yuna's techical components and PCS was better than Mirai, that's why she was far behind Yuna!!!
@warren1122report Because Yuna a better PCS than Mao. You may disagree with that but Mao's Bells of Moscow didn't work. That's why Lori Nichol will choreograph her LP next season! @warren1122report Look, I know it's her opinion which by the way people shouldn't take it seriously because WE ALL know that she's a DANCER and NOT a Figure Skater or an expert of this sport! It's funny when some of Youtube users around here posting like..Asada should have won gold. LOL. Ridiculous. There's no debate even. The ladies event wasn't even controversial. Because everybody knows that Yuna won fair and square! Youtube users/those fans from Japan who can't still accept the fact!
@kaoruzinha That's because Frankel is NOT a figure skater!!!! If she is then I'll probably respect her opinion! And some of you thinks that Mao should have won gold when in fact, Frankel is not an expert of figure skating!!!! See the difference?
Emily is dancing.Mao is dancing. It is dancing, Plushenko agrees.Let us destroy all skates.Let us all Dance,Dance,Dance.

You speak vainly.

i must say that i totally agree with ms. frankel. there's an inevitable difference between the two, and that's something you feel inside techniques aside although mao asada is technically the best female figure skater ever walked on the face of the earth. yuna kim is clearly overrated by the judges. i feel ashamed to see how my fellow koreans can get so cocky and ignorant despite of the widely accepted knowledge among non-koreans: kim is actually not that good as to the same extent as asada.

thanks! emily! yeah, mao is a artist and beatiful dancer!
noranekotama2325 1 year ago 27

YEA THATS WHAT I WANT TO SEE GIRL!!!!

I respect that we all have freedom of speech and press, but sometimes I feel that "those granted rights" need little restrictions. We can hurt each other to death by putting words in each other's mouth. But for what? Our personal glory and revenge? Is this why God created us?

Yes it is.

The legendary choreographer who choreographed Brian Boitano (1988 Olympics), Kristi Yamaguchi (1992 Olympics), Kurt Browning (1993 Worlds), and Tara Lipinski (1998 Olympics). When it comes to figure skating, she DOES know it all. If Emily thinks "I'm so happy" face on Mao Asada during her sp to Masquerade Suite (yes, tragic Masquerade Suite!) and her failed attemp to interpret The Bells of Moscow are artistic, then i don't know what to say.

@star915 Wow! You're so arrogant! lol
kaoruzinha 1 year ago
@star915 Sandra could have choreographed even for the Pope, it doesn't change the fact that she is biased, and should show a little bit of respect for the other skaters.
kaoruzinha 1 year ago
@kaoruzinha And Sandra is an expert of Figure Skating and yet she's a Korean too!??? You're a sore loser. Just cry, and cry and cry. Waaaaaa!

@jammerakwaii No, but Hyundai sponsors NBC.

@kaoruzinha And Toyota is trying to gain their credibility after fuc*ing up thousands of cars from their consumers! Cry, cry, and cry!

@jammerakwaii Don't mix things. Does toyota have any business with nbc?

@kaoruzinha NBC is an American network! LOL. BBC, CTV and the Eurosport favored Yuna and they all said she deserved the gold. All the newspapers like the NY times, even Phil Hersh said that Yuna was above everyone else. You think that Hyundai sponsored them too? Hahahahaha! You're delusional!
jammerakwaii 1 year ago
@jammerakwaii First of all, I was talking about Sandra's biased comments. Second Eurosport guys also criticized Mao's low scores in Worlds, they even said that it was probably because her name was not "Yuna".

@kaoruzinha Again, Sandra is an expert of figure skating. She's not the only one who praised Yuna! Yamaguchi, Fleming, etc praised Yuna! So, they're biased too? Frankel is a DANCER, not a figure skater, not an expert. And why are we talking about Worlds? We're talking about the Olympics because this video talks about the Olympics!!
jammerakwaii 1 year ago
@jammerakwaii Let me clear something. I don't think Mao should've won olys (altough seeing 150 just before her presentation must have destroyed her and damaged her nerves). But I can't accept those scores. Did you know that if Yuna were in men's competition she would have won men's LP? And how could she get more points than Mao in Torino LP with that garbage she performed? And then you dare to say it was all honest??? That KSU didn't lobby for that? Give me a break.
kaoruzinha 1 year ago 3

@kaoruzinha LOL KSU lobbying for that! Jezuz. You should know your facts. KSU is not even that powerful. They didn't even finance Yuna from her training! LOL. And Yuna winning the men's competition? You do realize that the men and women are different. They're scoring are different. Regarding the Worlds, Yuna's PCS were better. Because they hated Mao's Bell's of Moscow for the entire season! Even Browning commented on that! LOL.

@jammerakwaii Do you know how PCs are calculated for both men and women?
kaoruzinha 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@kaoruzinha Yes, but they're different. You just can't compare men and women!
jammerakwaii 1 year ago
@jammerakwaii I can. You just have to use factor 2.0 for PCs instead of ladies 1.6. And you'll see the result. Do it. Don't be afraid.
kaoruzinha 1 year ago
@jammerakwaii Don't be ridiculous! You calim Mao deserved 2nd in olys cause she made two big mistakes, and in Worlds Yuna made two big mistakes and got more points than her. Just a bit more and judges would've given it to her. I bet they were frustrated.
kaoruzinha 1 year ago
@kaoruzinha Again, you can also put Mirai in the same category. If some of you bothered that Yuna beat Mao on her LP at the Worlds with mistakes, what about Mirai who was clean on her LP at the Olympics and yet Asada had better scores!
jammerakwaii 1 year ago
@jammerakwaii Mirai is still young and hasn't reached Mao's artistic expression yet. As Emily said. Plus, even with two mistakes, Mao's base value was not 2 points less than Mirai's.
kaoruzinha 1 year ago
@kaoruzinha See, the thing is Emily said this blah, blah, blah. She's a DANCER!
jammerakwaii 1 year ago
@jammerakwaii Dancers know about art. Don't you, Yuna fans, love the word "art"?
kaoruzinha 1 year ago 3
None does 3A but Mao and why the basic score is lower than Yuna's 3-3?
midorimar 1 year ago 20

@midorimar lol Yuna has better edges, skating skills, choreography, and better sitspin. Just ask any other people who watch figure skating and they'll tell you the same thing (except Japanese fans). Also, Mao knew that Yuna's 3-3 is worth more and in fact, 3-3 Mao used to do (3f-3l) is worth even more than Yuna's 3lz-3t and yet she decided not to do it becuase she can't complete the rotation on her second jump. NO 3lz either(wrong edge), no 3sal, no 3-3, no 2-3.
star915 1 year ago
@star915
I don't think so.

Anyways, I know im outnumbered here among Mao fan's but get ur facts right.
star915 1 year ago

Why can just people accept that Yuna won fair and square!
jammerakwaii 1 year ago

@jammerakwaii
Kim made 2 big mistakes and some small mistakes on her LP in Torino.
But Kim got highest score in LP.
How do you think about that ?

@warren1122report You can also argue with Mirai who had a clean LP at the Olympics and yet Mao had a better scores more than her. How do you think about that???

@jammerakwaii
You don't answer my questrion or you don't want to , or you can't.
That clean LP by Mirai was far behind Kim's at the Olympics.
Why?
What's the difference ?

@warren1122report Because Yuna a better PCS than Mao. You may disagree with that but Mao's Bells of Moscow didn't work. That's why Lori Nichol will choreograph her LP next season! And some of her fans are blaming TAT because of the choices she made! Again, the same logic will apply to Mirai and Mao, Mirai was clean at the Olympics and yet Asada had better scores. Both Yuna's techical components and PCS was better than Mirai, that's why she was far behind Yuna!!!

That's your opinion, right ?
Ms. Frankel said her personal opinion.
Some people who agree with her opinion support her in this movie.

But you can't change ours either.
I think it's OK.
