  • Emily is dancing.Mao is dancing. It is dancing, Plushenko agrees.Let us destroy all skates.Let us all Dance,Dance,Dance.

  • I think she(Emily) is confusing a lot.

  • @currentgem As a professional dancer and from a dancer/artist's point of view Ms. Frankel is just expressing her opinion and she has a right to do so. Why do we have to unanimously praise Kim? Are you fascist? Who are you to say "stop arguing"? Why do you need borrowed authority like Hamilton said this or Yamaguchi said that to justify your opinion? It's clear Kim could never extend her leg like Asada does, spin like Czisny, step like Kostner. You can't fool eyes of a real artist.

  • i must say that i totally agree with ms. frankel. there's an inevitable difference between the two, and that's something you feel inside techniques aside although mao asada is technically the best female figure skater ever walked on the face of the earth. yuna kim is clearly overrated by the judges. i feel ashamed to see how my fellow koreans can get so cocky and ignorant despite of the widely accepted knowledge among non-koreans: kim is actually not that good as to the same extent as asada.

  • thanks! emily! yeah, mao is a artist and beatiful dancer!

  • I personally think mao is a better dancer as well. but talking about artistry its often very difficult. some people adore Chopin, but some other prefer Beethoven. this time, yuna was preferred. GOE scoring system is also a factor that scale artistry. mao's soft jumps were not considered "beautiful" in the past few seasons while yuna's dynamic jumps were. i can never imagine yuna gets on a stage as a dancer, but mao can be a top dancer if she wants to be.

  • the word "struggling artist " should be the best title for the girl.

    thank you for posting.

  • people seem to like talking about who is athletic/artistic more. i think, to be a good dancer you have to train your body so that you can use your body exactly how you need for showing us what you want to show, like a sprinter trains to run 1/100 sec faster.

Mao has both athletic technique and "balletic" grace, and keeps pushing her limits. she is a dancer, an athlete showing us artistry.

YEA THATS WHAT I WANT TO SEE GIRL!!!!

  • I totally agree with most of things which Emily mentioned, but I don't agree Mao deserved the gold. She did 3A and skated beautiful program but she made 2 mistakes, Yuna didn't make anyone so she should have won. However obviously Mao always gets too low scores

  • Thanks Emily. As the ranking of ice dancing is always decided before the competition, Kim-Yuna's gold was decided before the short program at the Vancouver. Who can explain the difference in points on the short program? Kim and her surround even got tons of money from Lloyd Bank because she made the new world record at the Vancouver. Figure skating is getting dirtier than it was at the Salt Lake.

  • Thanks for uploading. I'm so glad to hear Emily Frankel's comment about Mao's artistry.

  • Cultfran22, thanks for the upload. Emily, I translated everthing you said in this vid into Japanese in my blog, and Mao fans reading it are so thrilled by what you had to say. Alot of us thought quite the same as you, but sometimes I wasn't even sure if I only wanted to think that way cause I'm a Mao fan. But I can be more confident about how I feel from now on since an expert in dancing like you seem to feel the same. Thank you, I learned alot from your words.

  • こんな風に浅田真央選手を評価していただいて、ほんとうにうれしい!

    ほんとうにうれしい。。

Words are not adequate to express my gratitude.

  • oh poor me. I mean incomprehensible things.

Too much incomprehensible things happened in this recent 2-3 years.

Not only women but also men figure skating too.

I want to know what Emily think about Jeremy Abbott too. His PCS was so underscored. So sad.

  • Why can't the audience compare men and women' score? They are judged under the same rule, aren't they?

Well, there were too much understandable things happened in recent 2-3 years.

  • I don't know why Yuna Kim's fan still saying Mao can not jump 3A.

Even when Mao now has a Guinness record.

There are times her 3A was DG. I won't say all of those DG were misjudged.

But there are too many times that her clean 3A was DG.

When somebody's under rotated jumps were not.

    That's not fair at all.

  • @TaikogeMan When some skater URs her 3-3, she's never DGed. And when she is, they complain and say the tech specialist (who's not Japanese) hate her. Funny isn't it?

  • @jammerakwaii Yuna URs too, but judges never see it. =/ I guess they have eye problems.

  • @jammerakwaii ROTFLMAO How can you say that??? She complained about it in public!!! Yuna is the queen of complaints, everyone knows that. She even accuses skaters of sabotage. Now you talk as if Mao complained about anything.

  • @jammerakwaii Orser compared Yuna's and Miki's combos on Korean TV. After GPF Yuna stated in an interview that her combo was correct (implied she shouldn't have gotten DG). She accused others of impeding her warmup (twice!). Isn't it enough? Yeah, I don't like Yuna, and I have this right. Did I offend her though? I don't think so.

  • @jammerakwaii I'm no TV comentator, I can have my preferences. What about the warmup story? I know, you'll say she was innocent again. She's always innocent. You know what hurts? Seeing a talented, honest, hardworker girl like Mao being humilliated just because judges don't find her programs "cute" (of course, they can't understand the story behind Bells). But I believe god stays long, but strikes at last, and only real talents survive, while some who receive so much hype are easily forgotten.

  • @jammerakwaii The Aurora Ice Rink at Nagoya is not Mao's personal rink. It is shared between the majority of the top skaters, primarily those in the Aichi area (Mao, Miki, Takahiko, Kanako Murakami, etc.).

Get your facts checked before you embarrass yourself on the internet. Thanks.

  • Mao is a Skater who has both the art and the technology.

  • @icyhuman That's the problem. Mao's spins, spirals and step sequences are way better than Yuna's. And yet Yuna got 23 points more than Mao.

  • @kaoruzinha Because Yuna's majority points came from her super GOES!!! She had all that criteria under the scoring system which by the way was implemented way before Yuna is on top! Can you understand that?

  • @jammerakwaii Yeah. Those 17+ absurd GOEs. That was really pathetic. And everyone knows the system did not reward risk. That's why she got 150 (!!!) with three 2As.

  • point by point the same that so many people think.

Mao is not just skating over the ice full of grace, Mao is about art, about real passion for skating, tecnic, difficult programs that only she can perform.

when i see Yu Na , it´s beautifull. When i see Mao i just can feel the real passion she has for skating, she is not tired, she is looking for the perfection and keeps improving what looks almost perfect.

  • People, Vancouver Olympics had the right podium. Yuna deserved the gold. Mao deserved the silver. Joannie deserved the bronze. Every skating expect agreed on that. Now, in terms of the artistic side of figure skating, it's correct, everything is subjective. Emily has her opinion but even herself agreed that she's no figure skating expert. Figure Skating should be 50 percent Art, 50 percent Technical. And it should be a sport. If it's not then why is figure skating an Olympic Sport?

  • @jammerakwaii That's probably because Emily is Japanese. LOL

  • I am very glad to hear your opinion.

    I agree with you.

I think that there are a lot of very vague points in the current rule.

I also think that figure skating should be an art.

It was not in the art though Yuna's acting was an entertainment.

  • @jammerakwaii I don't get your point. A woman gave her opinion. Why are you bashing her and the ones who agree with her? Go comment on Scott Hamilton videos.

  • @jammerakwaii One more thing. Old rules benefitted skaters like Yuna and Lysacek, that's why they got those pathetic scores in the olympics. Now rules are changing to make the sport fairer, not to favor anyone like they did in the past seasons.

  • @kaoruzinha Fair?? You mean the Japanese Federation sneakingly went to the Tech Committee to approve their desire to benefit Asada next season! You said that Yuna benefited from the old rules, when in fact it was already implemented way before she's on top! You need to do some research honey and other sore losers. When you have a strong fed like Asada you can do anything you want, like manipulating the rules!

  • @jammerakwaii Can you prove that????

  • @kaoruzinha Go and read the Skating community. They will tell you that the old rules were for everyone because of the scandal from Salt Lake City Olympics! The old rules didn't benefit anyone. Yuna and her team had to work hard to adjust with all these rules. She didn't have a STRONG Federation that will back her up nor her country had a history of Figure Skating unlike Japan!!!!!

  • @jammerakwaii Tell me when the old rules rewarded some kind of risk. How many men do quads nowadays? That resulted in a male champion with no quad and a female champion with three 2As.

  • @jammerakwaii Well, judges ratified them many times, for your information.

  • @jammerakwaii They were nor UR, my dear. Her 3As are acceptable. Don't be jealous just because Yuna can't do them (maybe some day...). And don't say judges were generous to Mao, cause she got unfair downgrade in Torino and even in Japan nationals (by Japanese tech specialist).

  • @jammerakwaii When I said that? LOL

  • @jammerakwaii Again, can you prove it?

  • @jammerakwaii They published they'd bribe officials? LOL

  • @jammerakwaii Btw, since you refuse to do math, I'll tell you. With 2.0 factor, Yuna would've gotten around 168. Lysacek got 167 with 8 jumping passes, including 3As. Yuna had 7 passes and three 2As. And don't tell me "they're different blah blah blah" cause all base values are equal, the only difference is PCs factor. Now continue illuding yourself that "her score was deserved".

  • @kaoruzinha Again, you don't need to compare the men and the women! Why are you and others here in Youtube sooo bothered about Yuna's scores and interpreted it like the men? Lysacek is competing with the men and not Yuna!!!!! LOL.

  • @jammerakwaii Don't fool yourself. I just made a comparison to show you how ridiculous how scores were. BVs are the same, everything is the same, except for PCs factor. Can you read???

  • @jammerakwaii I've got nothing against her being Korean. I'm against inflated scores. And I've proved you hers were inflated. 168...

  • @jammerakwaii Everyone had 5-6 points more than they should, but Yuna had like 15.

  • @jammerakwaii Just one more thing. No one cares, cause they don't want to. If Yuna were Russian, they'd be yelling everywhere about how overscored she was.

  • @jammerakwaii You say "whine" cause you know I'm right. LOL

  • @jammerakwaii Gotta go to sleep. Maybe tomorrow you'll find another patient person to argue with you cause I'll be busy. Goodbye.

  • @jammerakwaii And I didn't say the rules were made to benefit Yuna, but that she benefitted from its flaws, along with other skaters.

  • Brava! I agree with you!

  • Everyone knows, it has been understood. Who is a correct gold medallist is understood. I doubted judges' Justice. I wanted to say that I agree with everything Emily had said. Thank you.

    誰もが見ればわかる事でした。誰が正しい金メダリストであるか。

    私は審査員たちの正義を疑いました。Emilyさんのおっしゃったこと全てに賛同します。ありがとうございました。

  • @star915 She's talking about olys, not 2007. Why are you bringing this?

  • @star915 Wow! You're so arrogant! lol

  • @star915 Sandra could have choreographed even for the Pope, it doesn't change the fact that she is biased, and should show a little bit of respect for the other skaters.

  • @kaoruzinha And Sandra is an expert of Figure Skating and yet she's a Korean too!??? You're a sore loser. Just cry, and cry and cry. Waaaaaa!

  • @jammerakwaii No, but Hyundai sponsors NBC.

  • @kaoruzinha And Toyota is trying to gain their credibility after fuc*ing up thousands of cars from their consumers! Cry, cry, and cry!

  • @jammerakwaii Don't mix things. Does toyota have any business with nbc?

  • @jammerakwaii First of all, I was talking about Sandra's biased comments. Second Eurosport guys also criticized Mao's low scores in Worlds, they even said that it was probably because her name was not "Yuna".

  • @jammerakwaii Let me clear something. I don't think Mao should've won olys (altough seeing 150 just before her presentation must have destroyed her and damaged her nerves). But I can't accept those scores. Did you know that if Yuna were in men's competition she would have won men's LP? And how could she get more points than Mao in Torino LP with that garbage she performed? And then you dare to say it was all honest??? That KSU didn't lobby for that? Give me a break.

  • @jammerakwaii Do you know how PCs are calculated for both men and women?

  • @jammerakwaii I can. You just have to use factor 2.0 for PCs instead of ladies 1.6. And you'll see the result. Do it. Don't be afraid.

  • @jammerakwaii Don't be ridiculous! You calim Mao deserved 2nd in olys cause she made two big mistakes, and in Worlds Yuna made two big mistakes and got more points than her. Just a bit more and judges would've given it to her. I bet they were frustrated.

  • @kaoruzinha Again, you can also put Mirai in the same category. If some of you bothered that Yuna beat Mao on her LP at the Worlds with mistakes, what about Mirai who was clean on her LP at the Olympics and yet Asada had better scores!

  • @jammerakwaii Mirai is still young and hasn't reached Mao's artistic expression yet. As Emily said. Plus, even with two mistakes, Mao's base value was not 2 points less than Mirai's.

  • @kaoruzinha See, the thing is Emily said this blah, blah, blah. She's a DANCER!

  • @jammerakwaii Dancers know about art. Don't you, Yuna fans, love the word "art"?

  • I agree. Yu-na Kim can dance well with music, which is her unique character but her skating skills are not as good as Mao's. Just stop watching the way we watch them on TV and start comparing them on videos by every elements; positions of spins, edges, choreographies over skating, numbers of rowing before jumping, ... . See who does the different things! Yu-na's 3-3 is very good, but other skaters can do it, too. None does 3A but Mao and why the basic score is lower than Yuna's 3-3?

  • @star915

    I don't think so.

Does Yu-na have the better sitspin than Mao at all? Mao quit 3-3 because it was only continuously unnecessarily been downgraded by judges. On the contrary Yu-na's 3-3s have never been downgraded even not fully rotated.

Yeah, it's all up to judges, and commentators on TV/controlled mass media supported by sponsors (Koreans?).

  • @star915 Yuna is not only one who's been struggling.... so are other best skaters. If you insist on her story (her challenge for 3A in vain or her claims on other skaters messing around her?), we'd insist that Mao is the one who's struggling with the series of unfair rule-changes and downgrades for the sake of Yuya, and Mao's overcome one by one. By the way it's easy to name one Korean company, isn't it? and I believe they can afford it even if they're window-dressed.

  • totally agree with Emily.

  • @jammerakwaii Frankel surely understands a lot about art, which is something you always claim is part of Yuna's talents. And I'm sure she understands it better than you.

  • @jammerakwaii

    @jammerakwaii

Kim made 2 big mistakes and some small mistakes on her LP in Torino.

But Kim got highest score in LP.

How do you think about that ?

  • @jammerakwaii

You don't answer my questrion or you don't want to , or you can't.

That clean LP by Mirai was far behind Kim's at the Olympics.

    Why?

    What's the difference ?

  • @jammerakwaii

Who was robbed ? Oh, it's Ok.

    That's your opinion, right ?

Ms. Frankel said her personal opinion.

Some people who agree with her opinion support her in this movie.

    Her opinion can't change yours.

But you can't change ours either.

    I think it's OK.

We are in the free thinking society.

  • @jammerakwaii Well, there's something called PCs...

  • @jammerakwaii That's what Frankel said was wrong in her opinion.

  • @kaoruzinha That's because Frankel is NOT a figure skater!!!! If she is then I'll probably respect her opinion! And some of you thinks that Mao should have won gold when in fact, Frankel is not an expert of figure skating!!!! See the difference?
