  • Just came here after seeing the scene from which it is featured in the film Chances Are. lovely song

  • @mp01juve - oh, what film is that? this concert is featured? or the song? Enjoy:)

  • @lenoremewton it's a 1989 film with Robert Downey Jr and Cybil Shephard called "Chances Are". the song Wonderful Wonderful is featured

  • @mp01juve Thank you for the information- i'll see if I can find it on YT. All the best.

  • There are songs that you never want to end. That you want to know will always be there. This is one of those very special songs.

  • @ohannahdad - True- I think this must be why Johnny has called Wonderful, Wonderful one his 'trilogy'- the songs that people want to listen to from his past- but never past. Enjoy:)

  • Lipsyncing? I'm just saying the mic stays pretty far away from his mouth and moves around quite a bit.

  • @Skipn27 No way in this case- this is definitely a live concert- he would not do that with a singing group. Don't know how much you watch Johnny's microphone technique- i know i never knew that there was such a thing until I saw other musicians and artists compliment him on his very specific technique- which includes using it and his voice like an instrument- moving it around- not keeping close to his mouth.

  • class act, this guy.

  • @lucychinn149 - definitely so- in a class of his own. Enjoy.

  • Johnny Mathis is just "Wonderful, Wonderful" himself. Thanks for posting!!!

  • @amd77j You are very welcome- it's a great pleasure to see how happy these videos make people- I know they do - me! enjoy!

  • There are very few singers who in my opinion can sing a love song with the feeling that Johnny does. I can't think of any song that he has sung that I do not like. He is just so smooth. I love Perry Como's singing but I still put Johnny a touch ahead of him. My favorite song has been the same one ever since Johnny came out with "The Twelfth Of Never" and that goes quite aways back.

  • @tkeitez66 - I agree with you so much- Johnny has such heart and emotion and he - as has been written about him- 'caresses' the songs he sings. Thank you for sharing here.

  • I'm going to see Johnny July 24th at the MGM Foxwoods with my best friend in this whole wide world, my Mom and her husband! I'm counting the days as it's been a lifelong dream of mine. His songs take me to a place that no other's do. I'll come back to give a review and you can bet the show is going to be spectacular! Thank You Johnny for so many years of musical enjoyment.

  • @JustaTouchU - that's terrific- and what great company -. Seeing Johnny in person is an incredible experience. As you say- he transports you- will love to hear your review if you care to share it. Have a wonderful time.

  • @JustaTouchU I finally got to see Johnny live June 3rd at the San Manuel Casino in Highland. What a WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL experience!!! I still can hardly get over just how beautiful his voice is live! The audience too all the "ah's" and just the joy on everyone's faces! I really want to see him again when he comes back to California in December ( Pechanga Resort and Casino on Dec. 11 th! ) I still kick myself I waited so long! What a true gift he is for us all!

  • @done7ful - how wonderful- seeing Johnny is such an experience- I'm still trying to catch up with everyone who has been going for years- but grateful for the times i've been - just saw him recently in Cohasset, MA. - wonderful - enjoy, enjoy.

  • sorry not to have seen your comment sooner! so glad you like it. As you may know, many of the performances from this particular PBS Special, Chances Are, have been uploaded on YouTube by others. Enjoy.

  • what a handsome man

  • uh, huh!

  • They don't sing em' like that anymore....Awesome!

  • Johnny will be 73 in September. For a man of his age I think he has a fantastic voice. On that PBS special Lenore mentions, Johnny was in the studio being interviewed when my local PBS station aired his 50th Anniversary album for their pledge drive. He talked about his early voice teacher and things she taught him about how to take care of his voice. Johnny also takes care of himself physically, he's a former athlete and is still active in golf. I hope we have him around for a long, long time.

  • I hope we do have him for many years to come- I did hear him recently say in an interview on a UK show that he probably thought he'd sing for a few more years- and then just play golf! Great that he takes such good care of himself - it's inspiring to all.

  • Thank you for posting your first video and to think that you selected Johnny Mathis. My heart skips a beat every time I hear his angelic voice. I hope you have more videos of him to post.

  • Thank you! -with the help of friends- My heart has been skipping beats since Sept. 07 when I saw JM on PBS - and said- "hey, what happened to that guy from the 50's?" The journey has been fairly non-stop since then. And while my family thinks I am beyond help- I am so heartened to know there are SO many of you out there as well!

  • He wasn't at his best, vocally, but it's still one of my favorite songs. He did well.

  • His voice varies from year to year, sometimes stronger then other times- but what is always present is his incredible persona and what he brings to each song. I guess in my book he can 'do no wrong'- I appreciate it all!

  • Great rendition, especially the intro - thanks for putting this one up for us.

  • You're welcome- it's nice to be able to share for a change!
