  • This is the first time, I don't agree with you, Anthony... This is a strong 8 for me. It continues gaining points since I bought it. Unfortunately, sometimes it's so over-producted, performaning it live would be impossible (The second part!) But on record, with really good headphones, the "strange sounds" are really impressive.

And: am I the only Interpol fan who likes the new stuff more than the older?

  • Favourite Interpol track is either "Obstacle 1" or "Stell Was a Diver...". Personally, I don't think they've released anything that matches "Turn on the Bright Lights" so far.

  • Agreed. This album was a big let down. "Success", "Try It On", and "Summer Well" were the only songs that I enjoyed. "Lights" and "Barricade" just didn't do it for me. "Barricade" seems like too much of a pop tune, and "Lights" is just the same thing over and over. I'd probably give it a 4/10 or 5/10

  • i thumbed up for jd but this album aint so great nor was the third i miss their greatness

  • Agree with this review, the album didn't blow me away at all. Underwhelming is the word, for sure.

  • this guy is a turd, over complicating and over analyzing a beautiful band and amazing album......screw him!

  • @confusedtennisplayer

It was a boring turd dude never sounded throughout the album like they gave a shit like Turn on the bright lights or Antics...........if anything it was an uninteresting version of Our Love to admire.

  • I love this album, it grows on you,i love how it has a strong, cohesive concept. Surprisingly, my fav Interpol album

  • honestly, Our Love to Admire was the most experimental album they cracked beside Turn On... Yet, everyone considers it their "Sellout" album, somethings are just baffling considering their Antics album, was the simplest album to date. Their new Album IS repetitive, and goes back to their Reverb ways, but, the whole cd feels like a one note album. And by Far, the WORST DRUMMING EVER. xD

  • Oh look a douche in straight-frame glasses with an opinion and a videocamera who thinks he matters. ALSO, the whole cutting frame-immediately-between-sentences-fad has passed. It just looks stupid and removes from your already weak interpretation of this album lies. Go back to school. BTW, Interpol >> You.

  • My god Barricade was a great song! whatchu talking bout? u mad bro?

  • its not even a rock band. interpol is indie or 'indie rock' lol so yeah.. haha

  • I don't agree with him much. The album that I had trouble getting used to was Our Love To Admire. I heard This album and just sort of let it sink in. It was a little more mellowed out but had more feeling to it. You definitely can't listen to just a couple song from this album and then rate it. Everyone knows that every song on their albums flows into the next and isn't the same without the flow. Without the flow it just doesn't sound as good.

  • It's official, Anthony is a member of the Illuminati.

  • Totally agree with this review. 1:21 TOTALLY AGREE! Carlos D's basslines were so loud and amazing in TOTBL now they are so quiet that I really have to listen to hear those great basslines. And yeah, their songs just kinda keep repeating the same thing over for each song. Success, Summer Well, Lights, Barricade, Try It On are the good songs off the album. An Easy 5/10

  • The language is spanish in the undoing.... It sounds amazing

  • do some bright eyes, plz

  • Oh you are SO SO SO wrong. How can you say this is a safe album!? It's not 'safe' at all, it was a total risk. Also you contradict yourself by saying "Interpol aren't throwing alot at you that they haven't before" and then you later go on to say about how you wish they'd stop trying new things and just write a good song.. So what do you actually want them to do here?! :O

  • a five? :/ it's a good 9 for me! I just love it.

  • @RisyaHoneydeww I love interpol but this album is 2 or light 3 for me

  • hey needledrop i finally looked... did you do turn on the bright lights?

  • A five!? I'm losing a lot of respect for you lately, Anthony. And a 6 on TKOL? I once thought you seemed like someone I could be good friends with, but wow! A five... just... :|

  • I'M NOT A LINGUIST

  • thats why I say that critics are so useless, every simple person knows, what is good or no, in every album....so... make videos like this... is a waste of time, or, someone who wants to be famous

  • takes time. but true fans still LOVE it!

  • @mozbernz

    AGREE !

  • This album takes time to fall in love with, at first I would have gave it a 5/10 also but no I would give it at least a 7/10 to 8/10. I think all the song mesh up really good, better than on Our Love To Admire. Of course it is not a 10/10 classic like Turn On The Bright Lights but I like the direction they moved into. Probably their 2nd or 3rd best album behind the debut and maybe their sophmore album.

  • I love it. Second favorite album after bright lights. I love stuff that makes you feel uneasy and this album does it. Favorite track: 'All of the Ways'.

  • The album was a grower for me, I gave it a 5 at first too, but it's worked its way up to a good 7 now.

  • I've never really understood why a band would put out self-titled albums, especially if it is not their first release.

  • I probably would have rated it lower in relation to their earlier works and my disappointment with this CD. However I feel you did a good job rating it as its own entity and separate piece. I tend to like your reviews, keep it up

  • Who is this tool? After seeing his face I gave up on watching the video or reading what he had to say about the album. Crap like this makes me long for the Bad Old Days when there was some kind of filter on the media. Now we just have 100000000000000 idiots standing on their pedestals. Somebody needs to make a taller pedestal just to be heard over these webcam-enabled self-aggrandizers.

  • It's not "interpole" douche magnet ,it's "interpol" say it right

  • Stop waiting for "Bright Lights Part 2". It will never come. Take this recored as if it's their only one or you'll never understand it.

  • @MenschMeier75 Thank you! that's what i have been saying.

  • ok so interpol is dead hope that new editors album will be better

  • Please be careful with your words!!! if i remember Editors albums, none of them have critical acclaims!!!

  • @jptrsantana so WHAT CRITICS ARE STUPID

  • @father042 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. let me guess, you are 7 years old boy?

  • @jptrsantana I'm 23 and you really need to stop being slave of pitchfork and other music reviewers

just because it Isn't fucking overraeti it isn't good?

  • @father042 i'm not a slave!!!! I Like this album, and the critics are mixed. And i understand your love for Editor's. Between us, interpol lives! And very healthy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jptrsantana ok sorry

I hope that new Interpol Album will make this one up and will come up with something different

  • @father042 No need to ask!!! The important is enjoy music!!! :-)

  • @jptrsantana and all interpol albums sound just the same I used to really love them but now they're boring but editors try to evolve their sound and do something new

why should someone stop liking them for that?

at first Interpol was really better, but now I'm starting to prefer Editors

  • Hey dude, your review is allright,it's your opinion and i respect that, but i am a huge INTERPOL fan and i just loved this album so much as i loved the others.

  • Interpol- new definition of boring

  • I don't know how anyone could dislike this album even a little bit. On first listen I thought it was lackluster as well, but after a few times this has quickly become my favorite album of theirs, and in fact one of my favorite albums ever. Maybe it doesn't have as much "rock" in it as some people very narrow-mindedly think it should, but what it does have is "roll." Interpol is one of the only bands I know of that consistently gets better with every new release.

  • top review i agree with everything i love the song lights with its build up..

julin pleni album was also a great bum its just take time and your hooked maybe a few more listens to interpol and this review may be diffrent.

  • its seems like everyone likes the singles of all their records,

    typical "fans"

    this record is amazing

    just like the rest.

  • this album is shit.

  • @armyofmeisbliss false...its not great but it's solid

  • @armyofmeisbliss

    keep it to yourself!

  • they're just more mature. I LOVE THIS ALBUM.

  • Sad to say, but I feel like Interpol peaked two albums ago.

  • This is a great review, definitely how I feel about the record. Sadly I think they're running out of steam : (

  • talk wayyyy too much. it's a great album. the more u listen to it the more u love it.

  • i have all there records and i must say i love them all but i have been really scared to buy the new one.

  • After watching this video I have an urge to listen to Crass' Christ the Album, Lou Reed's Transformer and for some reason Iron maiden even though I hate them. Subliminal!!

  • Great album if your having trouble falling asleep at night. Put it on and thank me in the morning. Your welcome. Sleep tight.

  • i loved it upon first listen, and i wouldn't call myself a hardcore interpol fan.

  • Being a Hardcore Interpol fan, I like this album alot, But its nothing compared to turn on the bright lights,

  • Mi... suerto? WHAT KIND OF CRAZY LANGUAGE IS THIS???

  • @rasputin33 me suelto. u fucking moron. it's spanish.

  • can I just say? You're great!! your videos crack me up!

and i agree with this review too. Im an old interpol fan. this album is not as awful as the previous one, but nothing special overall.

  • Interpol sets their sights upon thier own expectations for themselves. Its called integrity. They really don't care what "the people", whoever that is, or their fans are hoping for. Their standards are their own, and here they show their sophisticated side, because thats who they are. If you don't get it or don't have an advanced musical ear for such complex structures/harmonic ideas.... too bad. Its a brilliant Cd even in its dreary atmospheres. in that way, Art that is in tune with the times.

  • Best tracks are Obstacle 1, Untitled, Public Pervert, and Take me on a Cruise

  • I thought their previous record was even more boring ... and some of the lyrics were beyond rubbish too (how ware things on the west coast ... barf) ... I think they're becoming a big cliché ... I still enjoy this better than OUr Love to Admire

  • I would consider myself a hardcore Interpol fan and even will say how disappointing this album was. Fav new track= summer well. Fav all time track= evil.

  • This album had some amazing bass lines. I hope the band will get back together with Carlos for the next album.

  • favorite interpol track is a threeway tie between obstacle 1 stella was a diver and evil

  • Thumbs up if you noticed the Wavves reference in there.

  • I have always loved Interpol, and I will until the day I die.

  • Interpol has always been a live band and what is not to like about "building up" the song. People need to stop waiting for TOTBL! Here we are 8 years after and the JD comparison refuses to die. The album has a concept and it's for fans with a sophisticate palate that did not start with (insert post-Nirvana alt-rock band here). hey at least they aren't doing this revival of New wave...which should be left to New Order.

  • Decent 5 isn't that bad a rating for an album that you found boring and monotonous. Personally I find being bored by an album more offensive than actually being offended, if that makes sense. I would have much more respect for them if they were offensive, if they, say, dabbled in something like new school hip-hop. At least I would actually be excited to hear that first time around. But unfortunately this is just what Interpol are now; boring. And that's offensive...

  • agree with you on this one..

favroite track: Stella was a diver and she's always down

  • This review was likely given with out it's fair share of 'listen.' At first I did not like it, WHy? because i 'EXPECTED' it to sound like what I am USED TO. But it is clearly maturity in their work. A different, yet similar sound...

  • good review - for me 6.5 - Our Love to Admire a better album - its my favourite, even better than TOTBL.

Leif Erikson is my favourite track however.

Have you reviewed Foals? Great Band especially 1st album.

  • I think its boring too.

Our love to admire was way better

  • It took me two weeks of listening to this album to get it. And I LOVE it now. Interpol just has this way of making you feel when you listen to their music...it's hard to describe. This album is confusing and forgettable on first listen, and it takes work to like it. Definitely not for people just getting in to Interpol, but for fans, give it time.

  • @1to672 you´re right, I feel the same

  • @theneedledrop this is the best review i ever saw. So funny :D and serious at d same time :D ye id give thid album a 6.5/10 cus im an interpol fan since 2000 and remember how they were the real rock. I like this experimental fourth album though. Cant waot till the 5th album.. Interested to see if they can come up with at least 2 more good songs with a new line up. FAV TRACKS ON ''INTERPOL'':Barricade,Success,Summer Well.

FAV INTERPOL SONG EVER: Leif Erikson

    Cheers theneedledrop

  • if you want to like this album hear it on your ipod when you are about to sleep.. i did this and now ill love it forever.. no joke

  • It took me a while to like this album in its entirety. I'd like to point out my observation. Assuming that P. Banks writes all the lyrics, I believe he was hurting while writing this album. Antics he has a new love in his life and explores love at all angles. Our Love he is comfortable with this relationship and becomes restless with it. This album he misses someone and regrets his separation from a significant other.

    Favorite song: Summerwell/ Always Malaise.

  • I actually took me longer to like Our Love to Admire than this one. Fav: Summer Well

  • I love this album!

  • this guy is annoying

  • i really really liked the self titled album! iv been a fan for a about 4 years and this for me was weird at first...but after a week i started to really get into the songs and get used to the more slow tempo and orchestral atmosphere that it creates. however i did learn the guitar parts in a a couple weeks......thats not saying a whole lot about the complexity of the music.....guitar wise. which is why i started to like them in the first place. the guitar riffs.

  • Gotta say Anthony that I have to disagree with you on the review.

Interpol has taken a new direction with their music, leaning more towards their artistic side and less towards the rock-pop anthems that made them so popular when they first came out. This is a concept album from start to finish that tackles some very heavy subject matter. I can see that this would turn some ppl off, but to not give them the proper credit for a beautiful and well executed album is in fact somewhat biased.

  • it's not as good as Our Love To Admire and it would not look good for them to end with this album

  • the undoing is just great!!!! i loved the album, it cant make me feel boredddd...

btw, in the undoing he sings in spanishhh!!!

just a real fan can love this album... if you like barricade it might be because it's the most pop song of the album :/

  • i honestly have to agree with you on this one. not too much of a diversity in the sound, but barricade definitely stuck to the roots, although it may have been the only track doing so. i kinda enjoyed all of the ways, but the repetition became a bit excessive after the main verse ended. all in all, it wasn't what i would have Interpol defined by, but it was somewhat decent album. i think it may have been affected by carlos's departure, but i'm not an expert, so don't take my words too seriously.

  • @swein4rd The album was recorded with Carlos in its entirety.

  • I personally think this album is probably their second best. I think it's absolutely great, then again I'm a die-hard fan. I think the reason I like it so much is because it's almost a concept album that leads from sequence to sequence about a relationship's stages. Every song I can relate to. But I mean everyone has their own tastes and opinions, but that's just me. I think summer well is probably the best. Love barricade, all of the ways, memory serves. Gonna miss Carlos D!!!

  • I feel the exact same way about everything, and I just have to say it's not my favorite record by them.

  • the undoing has lyrics in spanish. paul banks speaks spanish fluently

  • 4:22 Wavvves cameo!

  • Really weak album. I kinda like Interpol, they have their share of catchy, good post-punk revival-y songs, but overall, they're pretty mediocre artists.

  • barricade is so 'slow hands'

  • you say you dont like it and give it a 5/10 but you say you LOVE tame impalas album and it only gets a 6? what the fuck dude

  • Good Review ! But you have to realize, Interpol is a rainy day band, you don't

listen to them when the sun is shining !

  • @skull1354 i disagree. even though their music is often melancholy it doesnt make me sad.. their songs make me really happy. unfortunately this new album is disappointing, though. and i've been looking forward to it for months :/ but OTLA wasnt that great either

  • I'm a big Interpol fan, I've seen them live twice. You really hit the spot on this one, I felt also a lot of repetition, and the choruses weren't all that good. The lyrics have downgraded a bit too much, for my taste. But still...at this time, I can't stop listening to "Success", "Memory" and the album's best "Try It Now", these are old-school Interpol songs, and are the ones who keep me close to this album...but there are only 3... (I guess Barricade isn't bad...)

  • The album is nowhere near totbl it's boring sure. But like most past interpol albums most songs are meant to be listen when you have your own alone time or moment. It catches you and melts you. This one catched me and almost dropped me. Lol

  • Nice Review Anthony! Personally for me, the album lands a little higher, probably around a 7. Though the album drags a little towards the end, I thought the opening half was really strong.

  • Set aside the opinions everyone might have on the new album and the past ones, I'm seeing them tonight, and my heart is already beating freaking fast just at the thought of it :)

  • You don't have to be a linguist to recognize spanish in The Undoing ...

  • @fouinilles

Well, Spanish is my first language and even tough I recognized it was Spanish, it took me like 3 or 4 listen to decipher what Paul was saying.

  • Slightly harsh review i think, not their best by far (Antics anyone?) but a solid if unremarkable album. 'Lights' and 'Try it on' are the stand out tracks. I don't think it's the repetition used on this album which makes it seem a bit dull at times (it never did the Editors debut any harm). There is just a lack of energy throughout and everything seems too calm and composed. I just want Paul Bank to start thrashing his guitar again like on 'Roland', 'PDA'; it would lighen the mood a bit.

  • only real men can appreciate interpol

  • The Undoing is my favorite off this album. One of my favorites of all time by them. I don't think it's weak at all!

  • @ABR0733 Oath, undoing is fuckin sick

  • In all fairness, I would have to say that this album is indeed interesting but...somewhat boring also. Sorry. I do like it though, it just doesn't stop me in my tracks in the same way some of their earlier work does.

  • "Success" was a strong start for the album (all their albums have strong openings which is awesome) But I absolutely agree that "The Undoing" Is the weakest track in this album.

  • I thought the album had more good than bad. I firmly believe that "Lights" steals the show because although it does use repetition, it's buildup emphasizes the feel and hollow tone they're known for, I also enjoyed the track "Try It On" Although Paul's vocals are not as strong and haunting on this song like they are on "Barricade" or "Summer Well" I enjoyed they different instrumentation and here they did throw in a few transitional bridges and such to make this song something different.

  • our love to admire had some great songs too...come on...the heinrich maneuver, pace is the trick ( the best ) pioneer to the falls, who do you think?, rest my chemistry, no i in threesome, mammoth...right?...what about antics...slow hands, take you on a cruise, evil, a time to be so small, c'mere, public pervert, not even jail, narc...all of them are great and awesome songs...five or six good songs on an album of ten songs is good business for me i think...???...right?

  • best songs in the album...at least for me...barricade, summer well ( the best ) success, memory serves...aaaaand....lights, always malaise, try it on...on last places...but is a great album...all interpol songs are awesome for real interpol fans...i listened their songs hundreds of times...all of them...the're all good...

  • thats just a damn good reviewer, good job. i was cringing at first when you said "triumphant return" bc i thought i were gonna just throw us some extolling platitudes, but, reall,y overall great job, u know what ur talking about without sounding too pedantic...

who's gonna subscribe?(adjust thumbs) this guy!!!

  • A Masterpiece ! i've been listening to this album on repeat for a whole week - back home, in my car and at work as well. the music touches my heart and my soul - this is what counts. keep on playing - sooner or later you will be poisoned too. i really hope to see you guys back in Switzerland - PLEASE fix a date!

  • If you can't hear the bass, Something is wrong! get a new Audio SYSTEM!! This album gives my svs subwoofer one hell of a workout! The bassline on Summer Well is sick!!

  • ok.. interpol!

bright lights..possibly one of the greatest debut albums ever made. antics....half decent album too much filler....

    the third one..awful...

this one....in between the third one and antics. not brilliant but not totally awful. interpol could have been so much better but they missed the boat for me at least. also possibly the worst album art ive seen in a long time.

i really want to like each interpol album but i cant.........

  • This album is absolutely brilliant. Is anyone actually listening to it? Carlos D was a fucking idiot and I can't wait to never hear of him again. Without this band he will disappear. This album is perfect if you like to sit down, close your eyes, and just be totally absorbed. Also, some of the best lyrics I've ever heard from any band.

  • @GrowthofH totally agree. Interpol is going thru a bad time, but theyre really talented (Paul + Daniel = Genius; Sam = Fantastic Drummer), so, soon or later theyll be acclaimed as they should. Carlos D is "the man" now, everyone misses him... but that narcissist douche will vanish from now on. If Interpol doesnt break up after this album (we have a lot of traces that indicate that), theyll become one of the greatest bands ever.

  • well in my opinion they have some more decnt songs than just barricade success is also a good one followed with memory serves and summer swell and by the way the other language in the track the undoing is spanish

  • Interpol's new album is horrible. They have officially jumped the shark. Paul should have backed off, but now it's too late.

  • @slgshane

    Please, shut up.

    ;)

  • Interpol is my favorite band. I've not heard all this album. Kinda afraid I might be disappointed. Interpol's first two album, tobl and antics(my favorite,) were masterpieces. just look at their reviews... OLA was still great. It got a 71 on metacritic, but your right about the bass. I'm hearing less and less of it. That was easily my favorite thing about Interpol.(Along with banks) I've always considered them a little more orchestral than rock, tbh. I'm seeing to many 5/10 reviews. makes me sad

  • Spanish is the language; quite an obscure one, I will grant you.

  • The bass is nearly non-existent in OLTA. They appear to have brought it out this time around. You're crazy. The bass has gotten louder since the last album or am I hearing things?

  • i agree that this album is different from their other stuff. but im a huge fan and i still love this cd. It's more mellow than there earlier stuff- i do feel its missing the typical Interpol sound.

    I give it a 7.5-8

  • if u dont like them, why would u watch a review on their album ppl?

  • this album is ok...its not as bad as you think it is...it incorporates the same sound that interpol fans have grown to love. it sounds like you are looking for some sort of pop hit and you simply have the wrong band.

  • did u listen to the whole album or two songz???cuz your only talking about the leaks not the whole thing...

  • I love interpol and thought the album was enjoyable... not ground breaking ok for the car maybe. But am i the only one who's getting a little annoyed with all these bands coming out with self titled albums. They creative enough to make music... can them or at least there damn producers come up with a cool name for an album.

  • I have to say that this review was pretty much spot on. I'm a huge Interpol fan and have been since the release of TOTBL. That being said, this album was a huge let down to me. I've only heard it once through, however I don't feel this one growing on me. Barricade is by far and away the highlight of the album and is really the only notable track where you can actually hear the bass guitar. That being said, I will still buy this album as an Interpol fan, but am very disappointed.

  • The reason the bass is getting turned down is because Carlos hated playing bass and rather focused on the orchestrial side of Interpol in Antics and OLTA. Now Carlos has left maybe if Interpol release a fifth album it will have less orchestra and more bass

  • Well, I honestly think that this album is for harcore Interpol fans only. I personally do like the album.. I think it was a couple of tracks that saved the album, such as The Undoing, Success etc.. There are a few good, meaty tracks on the album. Not every track is good though.. There are few "Pass By" tracks, meaning, it seems like there are tracks on the album that you'd most likely just skip and probably never really listen to. Really, there are only a few good solid tracks. Just my opinion.

  • derp

  • Totally agree with you about the bass being lower in the mix, it's my biggest gripe about new Interpol. I've only heard Lights, it didn't really get me excited for the album, I probably won't even buy it. Add Interpol to the list of naughties bands that started out great and were unable to maintain their high standards.

  • this is not relevant to this album but how do you feel about Muse?

  • Let me tell you something, Interpol albuns are not to review or judge, they are for people that like to HEAR, and READ the lyrics, these fucking NERDS dont know anything about life and poetry, Paul Banks is a genius of the 2000´s, this 4 album, is to hear in your bedroom, without judge, it´s a simple album, whats the big deal?

Paul dont need to be another fucking Lady Gaga.

    the same is Julian Plenti.

Interpol must go on without Carlos.

  • @paulozerati

POETRY? FROM A BAND THAT OUTRIGHT STATES LYRICS ARE COMPLETELY SECONDARY TO THEIR OVERALL COMPOSITIONS?

It's that kind of hyperbolic bullshit romanticizing that makes Interpol think they can keep making the same mediocre-ass rock records over and over. Turn On the Bright Lights was a great album, but if Antics and Our Love proved anything, it was a fluke.

  • @hightimesbruce thats your big mistake here, Antics, and OLTA, were GREAT albuns, with TIME,you will get it, the same is going to happen with this 4 album, every album of them are unique,Im a big fan of Billy Corgan, I know what Im saying,Carlos was a BIG bassist, but he is arrogant, so, Interpol must go on with another bassist, its simple.

I know all these post punk revival bands, Interpol is one of the bests.

  • @paulozerati hey guy, you seem to understand a lot about the music of Interpol. So, if you have time, could you explain me what is really what Carlos D does with orchestrations? What does orchestration mean actually? Was the perfection of LP 4 all because of Carlos D great orchestration skills? Thx

  • Rest my chemisty is the best of thier songs in my opinion and i still will give this a try

  • Haven't heard the new album except for the 2 promos, but am kinda encouraged by a perceived lack of contrast or samey hooks. Often this dissapates on repeated listening, giving a longevity to a record. Or something. Favourite Interpol song is "Not Even Jail". Thoughtful review as always.

  • iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim sooooooooooooooo booooooooooooooooooored (dehh duhh dehh deuhhh)

  • The last album snuck up on me and i liked it more than Antics... I hope this album might do the same after a while. I would love to know what Carlos is going to do since hes not in Interpol at the moment.

  • I have practically every other release but I'm just not interested in this one. Lights was incredibly dull. Also, didn't I hear that Carlos left the band?

  • thumbs up for wavves reference

  • I loved it, but I can understand you might not get that Interpol is all about building atmosphere (i.e. being repetitive), epic, and very abstract lyrics.

The similarities to Joy Division died after the 1st album, they sound nothing alike. The singer doesn't go monotone like Ian Curtis anymore. It's fine if you wanted pop melodies, but their albums are more epic than just forgettable indie pop.

  • @momsbluedress are you this bald kid's mother or something?

  • @Lenfer66669 Yes I am, I love my son very much. What's it to you?

  • I enjoy your reviews, but sometimes you piss me off! Interpol is the shiznit!

  • i think the needledrop only cared about hooks and Carlos' bass on this album. Not the atmosphere, and the quality of the songwriting.

  • @TheWhiteNoiseNation If he felt the album was a bit monotonous (as he states at the end) then clearly he feels there's something lacking in the songwriting. It's really very clear and simply worded, or did you just stop watching when he started complaining about the lack of bass on the album?

  • @momsbluedress The album is meant to represent all things broken, (as the album cover shows) thus resulting in broken song writing. The album is meant to recapture the sound and magic they once achevied with TOTBL, but fail at the end. Which results in that Interpol are tired off pleasing everyone, thus this is the official last Interpol album.

  • HAven't had the chance to hear this album, just heard Lights, i like what you say here, is awfull to mute Carlos basslines, I believe that they were more in the search of a specific sound for them that when they found it in The Lighthouse, Carlos realized that he didn't fit there. And Ligths is that sound they've found.

By the way think this album will be like the last one, the album tends to grow on you, at first I didn;t like our love...blah blah, but then it grew in me. thumbs up.

  • Interpol is BORING

  • Motorama is the new interpol :)

  • The brief sad music album art montage was a nice touch.

  • I'm just waiting for Carlos D to make a solo album, I doubt that will happen, but I can still hope.

  • Would be great if you could review some shoegaze. Doesn't matter if the albums are old.

  • Do you like the old wavves album? I'm going to see them in providence in a couple weeks.

  • "Repetition, monotony, dreariness, etc."

Typically terms used to describe an album from a band who never meant to go as far as they have. In Interpol's case, they should have stopped with "ANTICS." Coming out with an excellent album ("Turn On...") that is good, yet still instills a feeling of "been there, done that," should be a tip that the future isn't too bright. They are a Joy Division tribute band at best and should probably turn off those bright lights for good.

  • I really like this album. It's simple as you say. Even though I like it and you find it average, you always well justify why you gave it average, which is why I continue to watch your reviews

  • Ye ai agrii mane, derz gudd vareety on tis

  • Me personally, its albums like this and Spiderland, to get the full experience you have to be in the right mood to listen to them.

  • Some people confuse boring with interesting. This album is interesting. The goddamn Suburbs was boring, but you gave that rubbish an 8? Why? Because all the songs sounded like other songs other artists have written, like other Arcade Fire songs? This album DOES sound like Interpol, but it doesn't sound like old Interpol songs. If it did, everyone would be praising it for not being boring. But let me tell you that would be uninteresting as hell. Boo.

  • My favorite track of theirs has always been Heinrich Maneuver. Reason for that was when it came out as a single my girlfriend and I ended up going on a break while I was coincidentally in California on the west coast. Long story short I try and patch things up and make it work and then I find out that she started dating other people.I just was devastated for a long time but when I came back to reality afterward I noticed The Heinrich Maneuver and how oddly autobiographical it was to my life.

  • people seem to be getting down on you

i love your honesty about albums, isnt giving your own personal opinion the point of reviews?

    keep it up man
