  • i climbed up to the top of my friend's huge magnolia tree and sang this album at the top of my lungs ;}

  • Oh yes thanks I'm so happy to listen again this psychedelic song ! It remember so much my childhood, when my father passed it in the car ! Let's go travelling !

  • @PietPassword I saw them live all those years ago I wasn't that impressed while my girl friend of the time and a few friends thought they were the businness.

Now they were all smashed while I was sobber as a judge whether that had something to do with it?

  • this reminds me of my dad :) played this at his funeral it make me think of happy time x

  • A rose for you. This song always gets me up and singing (over forty?years!)

  • Du-da-dedu-da-dedu-da-dedu-da-dedu-da-dedu-dahhhh.

  • This one takes me back to the "60s !!! But, I have been launched off into the search for British Isles fiddle tunes add pipe tunes. I play them on mandolin. I really hadn't kept up with Incredible String Band since maybe 1969, but I do have a book of fiddle tunes edited by Robin Williamson, so in that way I have kept in touch !!!

  • O YEAH!!! I missed this in its' day - my loss!! SO good to catch some of this fine music 40 years after wards :-=).

  • My friend gave me this album for my 18th birthday in 1990. She gave me the original she bought when younger and it first came out. It has been and always will be one of my favourites. I thank her so much for introducing me to such a beautiful band.

  • I bought "Layers of the Onion" when it came out in 1967 and was hooked. I got to see them a couple of times - once at the Troubadour in LA and then in San Francisco. Hard to believe it was all 40 years ago. They were part of that interesting bunch of Elektra artists of that time - Tim Buckley, Earth Opera, Clear Light and the very talented Judy Collins. What times, what times...

  • I love this and I have always loved what it does!

  • thank you for uploading this song! I love this band and want to collect some (alot) of their music if I can find it. It's been so long and I don't have the albums anymore that I had back then.

  • Such tender cellular memories of gentle soulular awakening and blossoming. Thanks, Mike and Robin. You are indeed Winged Beings - spotted the avian names immediately, i.e., Heron and Robin :-)

  • Those were the days !

    Really a magic decade.

Everyone was positve, creative and loving. Now we just have the memories

  • sharonpayne28 pan3405 not talented you need a hearing aid

  • pan3405 what planet did you land from. Not talented are you deaf.

  • Because you enjoy this song, you may also like The Caterpillar - A Visionary Ghetto Tabloid - then again, you might not....... were they on Chrysalis Records?

  • the dog on the cover of hangmans daughter belonged to a friend of a friend.Robin is playing in wales in august cant wait .Saw him in dumfries in 85.edinburgh edinburgh

  • @sharonpayne28 The dog on the cover was Robin's dog. Its name was Leaf.

  • the incredible string band where the greatest thing to happen to and i cant forget them every day since i first heard them in brighton 40 years ago they have haunted me

  • they weren't very talented

  • wonderful then as now ..they are the table cloth and also the table ..

  • i did know they were at woodstock, and i do believe they refused to play in the rain.

    kinda lame of them,

but that has nothing to do with the fact that they were incredible (stringband) musicians.

  • @FreeJigsawEarth with all the instruments they had, I can't blame them for not wanting to play in the rain.

  • This is one of my top ten ISB songs.

  • dont you all live your life like catapilllars ?think about it home.school, adolesence, job, mariage, we are all on lifes long journey emerging and changing as we go,and hopefuly growing wings when we find our dreams coming true ?

  • sorry you lost me ? what is cumbuslang ? im an old hippy and i havent herd that term ?

  • Ahem , Cambuslang is a place. It is in west-central Scotland. It's possible that it is not quite so much fun as you might think it is.. :)
