  • I remember being at all three (Madison, La Crosse and Milwaukee and to this day - they have few equals.

  • He didn't hit the high note iin the intro. :(

  • oh oh shivers :)

  • This is when they were great, pity about the last 15 years.

  • What an awesome band! Chris DeGarmo could hold his own with the best, and Geoff Tate was every bit as good as Halford and Dickenson!

  • Can he not hit that crazy note like in the early years? That use to give me chill bumps

  • I went to this Concert in 91 at The Worcester Centrum it was phenominal Thanks for posting this.

  • TO much Echo?

  • @MaidenInTheStates you mean 'too'? Nah, he just can't sing like he used 'too'...(Ha!

I made a funny!) Check out the original version of this song

  • @MaidenInTheStates

It's a delay device dude, remember this was in '91 oke?

Then it was cool, like flat-tops, Vanilla Ice Ice Baby, and other crap!

This song is phenomenal, and without it would'nt be the same.

  • Sorry they just are"nt Queensryche without DeGarmo. Still love them.

  • I agree, his guitar does change colors throughout the song.

  • Who are the three cunts who gave thumbs down to this video?!?!?

May they BURN IN HELL for dissin' this incredible band!

  • @internetgratispr lol Yeah AGGREEEE!!!

  • @internetgratispr They are going to music hell..... along with Justin Bieber. haha.

  • I don't think i can name many bands that can do so well while playing their songs live, especially when the vocals are so crafty and hard to sing. Geoff Tate sounds amazing, instruments are all in shape and Rockenfield makes the drums look so interesting and full of life, i love his drum rolls and odd beats sometimes...

  • why chris de gramo guitar's continually changes?

one time is the colored one ....than it changes to the black one...and so on...Oo ....strange Oo

  • @belzebrutt chris plays the same one all song on this video. do u mean in general? there are lots reasons to change gutars, tunings, feel, setups. the only black guitar is a bass. in this video be cool :)

  • @BOOGLUV89

hahah i kno i'm a guitarrist...but if you look and pay attention u'll see :D

chris starts with the colored one (green red etc etc ) than1:23 while he is turning he has the black and white guitar XD than returns the colored one.

tha 1:38 black guitar again.1:45 colored one :D

3:01 lord chris starts his wonderfull solo with the colored one ...and then...after the solo when i jump out from the stage the guitar returns back (3:52)

4:28 colored one 4:48 BLACK ONE!!!and so it ends :D

  • I saw this dudes when they opened for KISS in 84 or 85 when Kiss was promoting the Animalize tour. Queensryche was coming out with Take Hold of the Flame tour. Queensryche blew them away !

  • @renedelafuente123 my first concert to!!.... and yes ryche ruled that show..and the thing is...kiss now has assclowns in makeup...but ryche is still jammin!!!

  • This is one of the best SOUNDING live albums ever. The clarity and punch of every instrument is magnificent.

  • I really love this song one of the best singers ever in the world what a range on his vocals out of this world

  • My personal favorite song!!

  • Wow.................................

  • Wow almost 20 years ago. I discovered this incredible band when they opened up for Def Leppard Hysteria tour.

  • @bookgrrrl11 Got ya beat! I saw them in a tiny bar ( and im talkin 200 people) in 1985 in alemeda,ca!

  • SAW THEM AGAIN LAST FRI

  • I saw this tour at the Royal Albert Hall in London and again in Leeds.

An incredible tour, wish I could wind the clock back and see it all over again.

    Awesome

  • Damn, the drums with the riff going is just AWESOME!!!!

  • Geoffs vocals is amazing live

  • OMG listen to that chimmey tube clean...holy shit. These guys kicked so much ass its not even funny

  • Prime Queensryche. The BEST!

  • @civdmode YES LADY

  • I FUCKING LOVE QUEESRYCHE

  • TAKE HOLD !!!!!!!! Queensryche RULE !!!

  • These Gentleman have helped me through a lot of hard times I remember listening to them with my brother whom i dont talk to anymore, they make me proud to say im from the Northwest!

  • talk to your brother. Life is too short. I wish you well.

  • @TheNWSCOTT ROCK ON M.F

  • you have such GREAT TASTE!!!! WoO HOo...

    JOURNEY Forever... ROCK ON! (;

  • I had drinks with 3 of these guys back in the early 90"s in Seattle.... Very nice guys and great musicians!

  • Have to agree Degarmo was the man... This has to be one of there best songs

  • They were ALWAYS the best when DeGarmo was in the band !!!

  • kind of like JOURNEY meets Pink Floyd LOL... I WISH!

    ♪≈♫≈Becky♥≈♪≈♫

  • yes ME TOO... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the guitar in this, and in all their songs, could "zone out" to it, and then when Geoff adds to the "magic" with his INCREDIBLE vocals: WOW!

yes I love SPACEY guitar riffs, and I wish I could get hold of Neal "da Man" Schon from my band JOURNEY, I would LOVE to hear them do an ALL MUSIC CD of nothing but Jonathan's piano/keyboards, Neal's haunting guitar echoes, and bring back the etheral native sound of Steve Perry, and Arnel's chants as well, all of it...

    /:

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman

YESSS, this is AMAZING, Geoff's vocals, the guitars, the "mood", I have never YET seen Queensryche in concert, have ALWAYS wanted to... AWESOME!

~~ talk about getting in a "mindset" this would do it... LOVE Queensryche and the 80's metal bands... but these guys STILL Rock!

  • Saw this tour and Warrior Soul was the opening band! Great show

  • Same Here, saw that tour in Edinburgh Playhouse with George Lynch as support, Feckin Superb show...

  • f mmm damn good song, thanks for post!! :D

  • Was lucky to see this show/tour in Amsterdam with Lynch Mob opening for them. Then went and caught Dread Zepplin for a midnight show at the Paradiso. That was a magic nite in '91!

  • You saw David Copperfield too?

  • onlyinvegas '99

  • "It's very easy to sing along with this one..."

Oh how wrong you are Master Tate hahaha

  • TRULY Amazing vocal by Geoff, the band ROCKS out and the atmosphere, well hell I wish I were there... hmmmm...

    Master?

  • Love it!!!

  • he skips the high note right before the heavy part starts

    otherwisw amazing

  • I hate to not hear it as well, but you have to take in to account this was one of a few encores....AFTER he had sung most of EMPIRE and ALL of Operation Mindcrime. My vocal chords fail just THINKING about that. Then do it on an almost NIGHTLY basis!! Pretty amazing.

  • Amazing song, amazing performance, amazing Live! :) QueensRyche will always be lightyears ahead of their time....

  • His performance is breath taking...

  • Love it!

  • Geoff Tate is really amazing live. Very little rock vocalists can be compared to him as well as to his magnificent, charismatic personality that he presents on a stage.

  • I have to admit that Building Empires and Operation Livecrime are the best DVDs that I will ever have in my life.

  • God damn I wish I could find this concert for download some where.

  • i have this on VHS! go to ebay and look for the Building Empires tour.

And when you crank this song (this version) in your car, it will kick your ass!

  • De Garmo{David Gilmore of heavy metal} Kick ass!!!!

  • même 18 ans après il arrive à déclencher le même frisson en concert: du grand art et une voix magnifique!

  • I miss Chris Degarmo. He's an awesome and talented guitar player and songwriter. I guess he's happier bing a pilot. Anyway, thanks for posting. Awesome song!

  • Always good to see DeGarmo in there......

  • I think this is when they were in their prime IMO. I saw them twice on this tour...incredible

  • @mg200442000 YA THINK????? This was while touring for EMPIRE!!!! Their prime! Right after the super Mindcrime tour!

  • @MMAFAN66 ya think also? It was the 'Building Empires' tour. I saw them twice that tour...

  • gellow its heavy metal not hard rock.

  • PROGRESSIVE METAL. Not heavy metal, or hard rock lol.

  • Whats the difference?Its all music too me,call it what u will,Its all based of the same 7modes and chords:}

  • oh yeah don't forget Scott!

  • One of my favorite bands from back then. Just saw them in St. Paul, MN about months ago and they still kick ass! One of the best vocals in hard rock. First time I saw them they opened for KISS here in about 1985, I have loved them since..Thanks!

  • great quality video, is this on a DVD?

  • Yeah its on the 'Building Empires' DVD :)

  • cool thanks!

  • I agree with the Rockenfield statements he is tight as hell. The whole band are exceptional musicians. I doubt Tate smoked, he did a stint in opera. You'd think he'd be smarter than that. Any way he still sounds great. Vocal chords get old and worn out just like any other body part.

  • He smoked ;)

Breaks my heart, but he smoked from almost the start i think and for sure up until MCII

  • A pack of Reds a day:}

  • what do you mean?? that tate smokes??

  • He used to...I guess he quit???

  • Having that voice and with the age he have, you can tell he do not smoke =)

  • He probably doesn't smoke, but unfortunately, he drinks a lot of wine. That has really contributed to his huskier baritone voice of late.

  • hate to be the bearer of bad news...

Geoff has been an on again off again smoker for his entire career..

being a singer myself.. i can vouch for the fact that when one quits smoking.. it changes the voice in an uncomfortable manner.. it's an adaptable change... but if you sing as a career.. it could change your voice to the point that you may lose that career

  • Damn! One of my favorites with a lot of meaning to it. Sure miss them days and songs. I think I seen this tour, not sure, but they opened for Kiss. I remember the Drumkit set-up.

  • I notice he dont hit ( all ) of them high notes like he used to .. but still freaking amazing .. My sister just saw them last week in Flagstaff . I'm jealous of her I never seen QR but I love them !!!

  • Scott has the absolute BEST sounding set of drums and percussive setup in all of rock and roll! Always has! In the studio albums you can really hear the tightness and clarity in his playing, nothing is mushed. I can't explain it - it's just there! Beautiful sound!

  • so good!

  • you know y he lost his voice so fast? he smokes like a fucking chimney

  • he SMOKED like a chimney

im pretty sure he doesent anymore

  • Queenyryche 4 ever!!

  • imagine how you would feel you,if you would knew that you HAD an incredible vocal range and technique but yau cant do it anymore...and in so young years he had his full range just for 8 years.... i would go crazy!

  • He can still hit at least a D5...

    I'd say he isnt moping.

  • I agree that he lost a lot of his vocal range but i think this was his best point of vocal range and voice maturity for Tate and also the best sound setting for the band!!!!!!!

  • he lost a lot of vocal range...and he was still young in 91

  • Just because he skipt the F scream in the begining! He hits an E 3:56-3:58 into this live performance that may not be his best but still a really top metal performance and it´s only half a step between E and F so the lost of range is not alot at all!

  • ti les re???the best performance was in 1985!!!!

  • QUEENSRYCHE 4LIFE !

  • Maybe their best performance!!!!!!!!!

  • DeGarmo,Wilton,Tate,andJackson.....Wow,what's not to like! every member strong as hell

  • come on, you didn't mention Rockenfield:D lol

  • Sorry, don't forget Scott!

  • best live band ever!!

  • i agree 100% flaggius, this band is probally the best live band ever and BAND one of my favs of all time! and they still sound amazing today!! i love the emotion they put into their music!

  • I know, they're unreal on stage, and in the studio too :D

  • bleeding out emotion all over the stage...

  • man thanks for uploading this song!
