@Hateyaall i'll correct you =] :"This is great for tournaments and competitions and also for street fighting, there is no rules. You kill or get killed."
They are just kids! if they fight with someone their age on the street they will kill and not get killed.
why arent they grabbing the kicks? why are they going straight at eachother? where are the angles and footwork? wtf is this? looks a lot more like tae kwon do. weird form of kung fu. omg those kicks, i dont know how to describe 'em. even the grown ups are using kicks a lot. weird.
@MightySunTzu you aren't allowed to grab kicks or hold when sparring in kung fu tournaments. it's all striking. as for the kids, give them a break they're just kids. as for the adults, i have no answer for you there. LOL. maybe they're beginners.
@rarrbear really? thats not even really sparring then, what if you choose a grappling art like mantis? makes sense though, you dont want someone to break an arm or get thrown.... but just strikes? that doesnt show much of the persons knowledge in the form.... at times.
Not to be a nay sayer, but traditional techniques are the ones to use, because if practiced in the "traditional" manner they become natural, automatic and the techniques tend to be oriented for take opponent, smash, break, next guy, smash, break ect....Often, Chen Zizheng one of the more famous northern eagle claw was know as three moves or less...
"grapling and wrestling is better at bar fighting"
Uh... bar fights involve multiple attackers, weapons and objects. Avoid going to the floor at all costs or you'll get a bar stool in the back of the head while you're trying for some fancy tapout.
But, when you get to the ground (because it will happen), you better know what to do to disable your primary opponent with swift violence (you're not trying to tap them out), then get to your feet and prepare for his friends.
@jeremiahp I know I'm a little late, but the object off BJJ--presumably--isn't to "tap-out" an opponent, that's just the consequence if the opponent doesn't want to pass-out or have their joint snapped. In a real fight, if you rear-naked-choked someone, and they weren't really aware or prepared for it, they'd pass out in a matter of seconds. If they were put into an arm-bar, their arms would snap like toothpicks. I'm not a proponent of ground fighting, but it can be useful for the occasion.
Grappling and wrestling are the WORST for bar fighting! You A) Have little to NO room, B) Often have to fight mutiple people, C) are probably going to hit something hard and get hurt when you go down too.
then you are not looking at the right styles. Plus everyone has their own way of fighting, no matter what style. A simple example, some people like to kick and some like to punch.
oi 'tsang' its stupid using traditional stuff in a fight they were doing what comes naturally, over wise thed have to stop and think what move to do thats why martial artist practice those things to make them natural to them if you get my meening
i agree with what Tsang is saying alil bit. it is good to stick to your style, but when your fighting, sticking too much to the traditional form isnt toatly the way to go. remember what your teachers tell you but dont be stuck.
both of those kids names are michale and mark. one is ten and i think the other is 14. not too sure. Go team white leopard!

KungFuBadAss 4 years ago
nah i know what you sayin im not saying its because they are kids
but i have seen grown adults who say they know "traditional kung fu" and it just seems like they're kick boxing..

KungFuBadAss 4 years ago
nah what im saying is like
for example in my old karate school
we learned traditional stuff
but then when it got to sparring
those kids took everythin we learned
forgot it
and made it look like kick boxing instead..

hoboguru 4 years ago
is this point sparring?
hoboguru 4 years ago
nahh thats what i mean
its a tendency to fight like this
but i found it that when you spar if you consciously make an effort to use traditional techniques that you learn, they will come naturally.
