[They leave out the third feast, but it’s Theophany. I’ve seen longer versions of this.]
Cover the tables and all the carpets, rejoice! Rejoice, O Earth, the Son of God is born! And for carols give chocolates [i.e., to the carolers], rejoice! Rejoice, O Earth, the Son of God is born!
Good evening to you, gentle sir, rejoice! Rejoice, O Earth, the Son of God is born!
Because they come to thee, three feasts to visit, rejoice! Rejoice, O Earth, the Son of God is born! And that first feast is Holy Nativity, rejoice! Rejoice, O Earth, the Son of God is born! And that second feast is of Saint Basil, rejoice! Rejoice, O Earth, the Son of God is born!
I will make haste to Your call, my gracious Shepherd.
My whole self to You I entrust, How pleasant is Your call! O, how pleasant is Your call!
[Then back to the Shepherd}
O lamb, where have you hidden, and how far have you gone? Have you strayed out in the woods or, refuge in mountains sought? Or refuge in mountains sought?
O lamb, where have you hidden, and how far have you gone? Have you strayed out in the woods or, refuge in mountains sought? Or refuge in mountains sought? And all the other lambs, are grazing here by Me. Guided forth in golden days with, no sighing, nor grieving. With no sighing nor grieving. You meadows, woods and rivers to, the Eternal Maker speak! Will you not find where this sheep is, the sheep for which I grieve? Oh, the sheep for which I grieve?
This is the first song: Где ты агница сокрилась, И в какую даль ушла? В небесах ли заблудилась Иль в горах приют нашла? Зри, как агницы другие, Все пасутся у Меня, Провожаю дни златые, Не вздыхая, не стеня. Вы угла, леса и речки, Рцыте к Вышнему Творцу, Не видали ли вы овечки, Которые я дую? Я на глас Твой поспешаю, О, любезный, Пастирь мой, Всю себя Тебе вручаю, Коль призыв приятен Твой.
I love how the characterful voices are given the solos to base the choir on. They're all excellent but the sheer fun expressed by the outliers really should teach us something about choirs over here.
they have really rich and distinvtive tradition of vocal music down there in Russia, also secular music. Dmitri Pokrovski was a man who collected (also saved from posible oblivion) from villages all over Russia their chants and formed an ensemble of professional musicians to perform those songs in authentic style.
Please! Who are the singers? where are they from? Music school? University choir? Church choir? And what does the priest say at the end of the first piece?
Quel bel ensemble!
The first song is called "agniza", that means a small joung sheep. It is just a dialog between Savior and this small sheep, He asks where is he gone or if she got lost in forest or mountains, the sheep answers she is on her way to Him, becaurse he hears His call.
So, it means that angels don't really live in heaven. Now I know that they actually reside in Russia. May these beautiful young ladies retain their sweetness always and may the tradition of these chants live forever.
Third song, part II:
[They leave out the third feast, but it’s Theophany. I’ve seen longer versions of this.]
Cover the tables and all the carpets, rejoice! Rejoice, O Earth, the Son of God is born! And for carols give chocolates [i.e., to the carolers], rejoice! Rejoice, O Earth, the Son of God is born!
The first is in Russian, the third in Ukrainian.

They sing wonderfully, but what I do like most is how they seem to enjoy singing.
Cantan maravillosamente, pero lo que más me gusta es cómo parecen disfrutar al hacerlo.
