i am just wondering wat the most memory you have ever seen on any type of drive or even heard of? i found that there is up too 1.5 TB hard drives on amazon but do they go bigger?
hi, just wondering, if anyone has any experience with the maxtor black armor or the video owner, petersteg. i'm looking into buying the black armor 160gb, it's 5200rpm, i don't have much experience with external hd's but curious about the speed, like how long would it take to transfer let's say 10gb of data to the black armor through the usb 2.0, how long for 50gb, does the encryption make it painfully slow? thanks for any help!
5400 rpm is not a problem since the USB interface is typically the bottleneck. I transferred 15 GBs in about 30 minutes on a similar drive.
Regarding encryption: this drive is special because the encryption is in the hardware. No performance penalty at all for encrypting. It's just as fast as a similar drive that does not encrypt.

seagate has encryption and if you think that dosen't have enough you can add encrytion with an encryption software like truecrypt

I too would like to know if the encrytion makes it slow ?
Also when ever we plug it in it will ask for password, if we set it up correct ?

I highly doubt the best hacker couldn't get into that drive.
