What was so amazing of SRV was that regardless was he high or/and drunk, he didn't play like so many other musicians before and after him - wrongly. He didn't ever pick even one miss note based on all of the videos I have ever seen him playing! There are good wanna-be blues guitarists nowadays but they just can't reach the level SRV did and keeps doing in these youtube videos - hopefully still long time to go....
@96Bluesboy .... zakk wylde.... back way back when....... then yo got dimebag.....country fried licks....... they all have feeling.... and they do the slow stuff too.. just saying........all them "metal" guys got from someplace right?
Thanks for sharing! I love that Stevie was always so humble and gave his all to every song he sang. Don't think I've ever seen he act arrogant! Miss you Stevie!!!!!!!
Awesome that I found this video!!! Lookin' out the window is one of my favourite tunes by SRV and its very underrated! beautiful song and Forever SRV Lives On....Yeah I'm looking out the window uh huh, Im looking at you!
the thumb is the strongest muscle in the hand, to bend, wrap the thumb around the top of the neck and then grip. With those huge strings, it's still hard on the fingertips. I read once that he cut calloused skin off his heel and superglued it to the tips of his fingers. Sure made a difference in his tone.
What's all this about Hendrix, usually Americans who go on about him, yet he had to come to England to make it, as did a lot of Black Americans in the 60's.
I heard he was opening for the Allman Brothers, find that hard to believe. Stevie was a star, certainly was in the UK. Maybe America had not appreciated him at this time. How can anyone follow Stevie?
its fucking stevie ray. if i had to pick allman brothers or stevie id for damn sure pick stevie. stevie is the greatest. he did for blues wht michael did for pop. right when the blues was dying stevie came and brought it back to life. RIP stevie

@jteshuwah He plays in a nashville based blues band. They're the Bart Walker Band. Definitely need to go look him up. He holds his own.

Great shot at 2:35, those strings are tree trunks. How the hell did he bend those?

It's the bloody Allman Brothers.

lol if they still had duane then maybe, MAYBE, it's conceivable. But come ON, the only thing harder than following stevie is following Hendrix

True. But, still. The Allman Brothers had a real legend status. Stevie didn't.
Also, plenty of people harder to follow than that. Albert King, etc.
