  • timeless, one of the best song ever if not THE best, whatever the feeling is at the time of the listen i still love that track, just incredible.

  • red army ballerinas, maoist uniforms, clash music...it doesn't get any better...heard this for the first time ridin' with nick the dick and ed the head in jersey one night, couldn't wait to get my hands on it the next day and i NEVER LOOKED BACK !!!

  • I'm dancing to this at my wedding..

  • just shut up and relax

  • F*ing commercials.

  • @thewithersband clash weren't commercial, they were punk

  • @JoeStrummerAlive think he was complaining about the advertisements...

  • @Snakebelmont ops xD

  • the clash brilliance aside... her braid is so sewn on to the front of her outfit. look at it, it goes nowhere..!

  • @Frefflica ....her move at :12 is incredibly lovely though, braids and The Clash brilliance aside though how could you put The Clash's brilliance aside, I ask you? When they're The Only Band That Matters forevermore?

  • @chrstnlmllr51 you make an excellent excellent point.

  • Kinda nice they did this in 3, as most waltzes are. The Clash did their homework, very nice for a non-jazz based band, though topper was a jazz drummer.

  • As we danced came the news that the war was not won

5 armies were coming, with carrige and gun

Through the heart of the camp

swept the news from the front

A cloud crossed the moon, a child cried for food

We knew the war could not be won.

  • great video and song

  • I'm in a Sandinista mood now

  • our time is now

  • You nailed it. Nice shot, man.

  • Are some of those scenes taken from the ballet version of The Red Detachment of Women?

  • Poor Joe !China is just a dictatur...

The real rebel spirit is in other democratic country and in others guys...like the clash

That's the rebel spirit. And the song was written for the Sandinists in Nicaragua.

So Viva la Revolucion ! :)

    Wonderful song!

  • I wanna dance with that communist sister! Onwards to smash the bourgeois!

  • Think you will find that rebels in all totalitarian states tend to have an unfortunate habit of ending up in the gulag.......be it black or red)

  • Being born in Turkey doesnt mean you're Turkish. Plz pay attention. Joe was born in Ankara, Turkey. His mother was born & raised in Bonar Bridge in the ScottishHighlands, was a nurse. His father Ronald Mellor, was a British foreign-service diplomat born in Lucknow, India. Ronald Mellor had an Armenian maternal grandfather & a German Jewish paternal grandmother. >Not that all that matters, what matters is his legacy. Respect Joe RIP

  • It's true that the Clash were formed in London but Joe was actually Turkish

  • born in ankara

    not a turk

  • I love the song, the album and the lady.

  • Great song!!!

  • joe was an englishman and not a fucking yank as you americans would like

  • just a lush song, what else can you say!!!!

  • this song makes me sleepy...good song tho

  • Strummer was no sellout. He probably forgot to donate all his earnings to organizations that want to smash capitalism and unknowingly died a millionaire.

  • When Joe Strummer died his estate was valued at over a million dollars, he left all the money to his wife.

  • pounds not dollars.

  • Well if that's the case, lefty Strummer was even richer when he died.

  • well for one he was not like any normal rockstar he never sold out that was from all his past work with the mescaleros not from the clash cause you remember he was always broke.

  • @51455 Well, its not like he would leave his wife penniless without any money, he's not a retard. Besides, Joe realized blind youth idealism isn't possible after The Clash. He even said if Carl Marx himself couldn't establish anything lasting, how could four blokes from England do anything? And even still for a career that included one of the best bands ever, that's not that much money.

  • @vboredv Karl you mean :P

  • Does the MIM exist anywhere but on the internet?

  • When ever i listern to this song, what comes to my mind was the American Civil War?

  • omg. same here! not. even. lying.

  • It's a shame those trotskyist fools lack the understanding of true class struggle. I'm ashamed of the European left. Keep it up, I always admired the MIM.

  • Check out the version of this song by Ruby on the Vine. It's on the tribute album called "The Sandinista Project". It's awesome shit.

  • Maoism = red fascism. Thanks for ruining a great song with your retrograde, reactionary politics. Enjoy the tatse of the Dear Leader's ball sweat.

  • To even use the phrase "red fascism" displays a pretty laughable lack of understanding about fascism. Fascism does not just equal totalitarianism.

Still, the Left is partly to blame for the distortion in the word's meaning as they've tended to throw the word arond a lot and abuse it.

    As for my opinion-

    yay Marx!

    boo Mao :(

  • The moment you use the word Maoist as a positive thing, you lose all credibility.

  • Fantastic video, great job. A great song, from their best album.

  • This song is beautiful...I love it!
