  • "Enjoy your days, they're precious and few..."

Don't give up the music John, the two albums were wonderful British Dylan-esque pieces.

  • John the Squire!

    stay out of the light

    your better than that.

  • Ian and John need to sort it out. I read that John actually sent Ian a record and Ian thought it was good. But he decided to not put it on his album and he never got back to John. That's sad man, really sad. Surely they can shake hands blame the drugs and move on?

  • Read this also. What a missed opportunity.

Have you listened to some of the lyrics of Brown's latest album? The bitterness he still undoubtedly still holds towards Squire even after all these years is really saddening.

  • @Gregorskorino i would have the same bitternes...he walked out on the roses..they were on the verge on something great...and he jumped ship..ian is the man anyway..listening to this attempt at solo work..seals that for me..

  • @hoppybhoy71 well if your gonna throw blame about why not start with reni ? something a lot of people conveniently forget. i dont know why cos the guy was as important as any of the others.

  • I just love his solo carreer he's f*ckin great, so talented guy

  • One of only 2 decent songs from his solo album....still worth the 13 quid!

  • a fukn love squire!!!!

  • so exquisitely cutting

  • ron rock and lock one motorik m t k

  • I am truly devoted... he's a superb smartyPants!! korrrr

  • john squire's amazing. love his solo stuff, wish he hadn't stopped, although i love his art. he's a true renaissance man - he can do anything. i've got his back the whole way. i think the roses should reform for charity. they'd make shit loads of cash. and cash saves lives. just a thought johnny boy.

  • Great song... Love the lyrics!!

  • first prize for metaphysics, well done Laddie

  • great record.

  • every bit of me melts into the chromium, brass, titanium...lead me to your snarrrl

  • it's a king of "Boxing Day" song huh!

  • great song.

  • Squire [& Brown & the lads] really are PUNK, but a kind of subtle punk where you don't even feel the bite to the pineal, korrrr

  • quality :) i love John Squire, i don't care if the Roses reunite or not, hibeedude08: i agree with you

  • madonna puttana!

  • nothing to do only:

stone roses should to reform,c'mon little bastard take the phone and call ian!!!

  • Couldn't give a shit about the music press, or the phoney Ian/John debate, this is a great song, and a great record

  • Seahorses = great. in my opinon. Not as good as the roses = greatest ever. But why do people slag John S? He is what he is.

  • @hibeedude08 people like to hate on something when things don't go their way.

  • the The Seahorses were GOOD, but The Roses were GOD!

  • 100% AGREE

  • squire has still got what it takes musically but he is not a frontman or a singer. He should get a new band together and make an album that would erase the memory of how poor the seahorses were and how bad his signing is on his solo work. He will go down in history as the man who walked out on the best band in the world to piss it all away with 2nd rate efforts.

  • its true

we all love squire and none more than me, hes one of the greatest but he cant sing

    thats what ian for.

    i wish they shake hands!

  • Am I seeing things or did you write "that's what ian is for" ?

I didn't know he could sing - you should tell him to try it for a change.

He's not sang proper since 1994 because he's not had john there to write something called a MELODY. Learn how to listen you cock sucker

  • seahorses were good

  • pedrothecruel ,agreed!

  • I think his voice sounds pretty good on this song

  • it's in the last fifteen seconds of each round...to measure the weakness.. then gogogo with all the momentum of the earth in the feet- all tho kilos into the space of a fist but with brotherly Love (even in a guitar!)

  • Joe Louis is a tune, dont care what anyone says, and i like both of Squire's albums. Brown's solo stuff is great too.

  • i must be the only stone roses fan who doesn't think they should get back together. they were magical and thats how it should be left as far as im concerned they said it all in their songs what else could they write if they reformed?

  • i duno who's the best singer out of brown and squire but there both shit anyway at singing that is

  • Squire awesome guitarist, great licks, shite singer. He'll be back with somethin great at some point!

  • First time i've heard a squire solo record. Fuck me it's shit.

  • shite out put my ass, ian brown has produced some stunning albums! fair enough squires album aint that good...

but dont say iam brown hasnt mate..! you know fuck all!

  • na mate never been that big oasis fan...not into bar chord music...knob!

    long live the king monkey!!

you know fuck all mate...keep your shite opions to your self!

  • bet u like oasis 2? like that is a down fall to someones music taste? I actually like this squire album its a nice grower thou not breaking music bounderies but still i nice mellow listen. If squire felt the need to protect himself by joining a good band then he would have. what the fuck do u know? by reading your last comments sounds like nothing

  • I agree with you on the Squire thing - he doesn't need to join another band to protect himself, he's always been capable on his own. The Roses could have had the same success as they had with a different singer but they definitely wouldn't have done without any of the other three.

  • This is my fave John Squire Song musically. His singing voice is however..ummm an acquired taste. Bring back Roses!

  • Quality song. Singing isnt that bad but not the greatest. Then again Ian Browns voice is terrible but still love his solo stuff also.

    Reform the Roses lads.

  • Tune!! long live Squire, LEGEND.

  • i don't think squire's vocals are all that bad on this song.

  • Squire stop singing please!!!!

  • I think John should stop painting and pick that bloody guitar up again... then go apologize to Ian, reform the Roses. Imagine how much money they'd get if they reformed.

  • squire rocks man keep it up man

  • when i first picked up this album, i thought it sounded a bit naff, but after a bit it grew on me and just as i really started liking it i left my girlfriend...only to realsie the CD was @ her house, DOH!!

  • i think he should just stop squeezing all what he can get off his past career success... he cant sing for gods sake.

  • sounds like hes got a cold ,,,

  • one of the best songs of this millenium.

  • this song bout the boxer

  • Brilliant song. It pisses me off when Ian Brown gets all the praise for the Roses when he was in fact the least talented member.

Squire is, was and always will be a legend.

  • You got that right mate.

    Cheers

  • thats why squire failed and ian didnt,f.e.a.r says it all mate.

  • Squire failed? I don't think so mate. He was the driving force behind the Roses and both his solo albums are quality. Doesn't sound like much of a failure to me.

And F.E.A.R doesn;t 'say it all' it really doesn't.

  • Squires had higher chart placings than brown since the roses.

  • every brown album has been top ten,and also a good few singles, name a squire song that has.

  • Do it yourself no2.

  • i never said album,i said song, and what about his solo albums, the seahorses album was bought out of curiosity,i was one of them, silly people.and were did squires solo albums get too.

  • Ian brown can trade on being the face of the stone roses.John squire doesn't have that luxury.

  • so you dont want them to reform then,if you hate brown so much.

  • no i don't.

  • dont you think it was undignified,ad also they have one more album in them,i personaly dont think it would happen, but just to give people a chance to see them live that havent seen them, even for charity, mani should tell them to get their act together.

  • I think reforming would go against everything they stood for.I love the fact that they could have been the biggest band in the world but went to the pub instead.

  • and also the stone roses wasnt about one face,it was about the four of them, they are one of the only bands that people know eveyone of their names like the beatles.

  • ian brown is a musician , squire is an artist .

ian brown play music for the money, squire makes art or music for the satisfaction.

ian brown play music for publicity, squire makes art or music for the public.

    ...

  • Quality

  • Fabulous song from an awful album, only John Squire could write such a heartfelt tribute to 80's pop star Jona Lewis . . . okay I'm joking.

Still a great song from a great great guitar player.

    Thanks for posting it

  • song of the century!

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please view my clip of some 1930's boxing tobacco cards. They include Max Baer, Joe Louis, Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey and many more.

  • he sounds like a piss poor bowie impersonater on this, suede indeed

  • not too bad, but seems like he cant decide between making music like Ian Brown or maybe like the Late Suede stuff!

  • aspetacular!!

  • better song than I expected. After I heard The Sea Horses album I stopped listening to Squire. His Roses stuff is transcendant at times. Always makes me feel better after listening to them. If only they could make ammends. One can dream anyway...

  • amazing song and amazing voice.

  • Well thats his problem. great guitar player and songwriter and artist but should shove his microphone upon his **** I love John Squire, but for his arts and guitar playing. Long live the Seahorses!

  • Everythings good in my view, except the voys. Too artificial.

The fact he's moving on artistically, earns my respect.

  • squire is a legend.. enough said!!!!

  • great song, totally underated record. thought the video sucked....till the last 15 seconds when i sussed it were a guillotine.

  • Decent song. Vocals need some help, but Squire is one of my favorite all-time guitarists, no doubt about it.

Is this song about Joe Louis, the boxer from Detroit, aka "The Brown Bomber"?

  • no it was about a relative of his, sister, cousin of sumfin, there new born baby "joe louis", he sed on the radio wen promo'ing this album.

  • Unlikely that Joe Louis 'the boxer' had blue eyes lol!

  • voice sounds like lawrence from 'felt'.

he was always the feminine side of the roses and he doesnt have the prescence of brown to make the song come alive.

    is this about brown???

    gotta love squire man...come on.

  • Um... sad... but thanks for sharing. It sounds alot like The Small Faces, though.
