every guy is just a kid compared to shaq. no body contact (shoulder to chest) here though, diesel uses only his elbows. he would have killed oden anyway, but still
when oden was healthy he was very productive he was a good number 1 pick its just that the injury bug got him too early if he makes a come back he should be very dominant
If anyone is still in debate over Shaq vs Dwight, heres a little something. Shaq at 37 years old (incredibly out of shape, body almost done) averaged 17.8 ppg for 30 mins a night, while Dwight, 23, IN HIS ABSOLUTE PHYSICAL PRIME, 20.6 for 35 mins a night. At Dwight's age, in his third year, Shaq was averaging 25 + against prime Hakeem in the finals holding his own. Dwight's career high = Shaq's rookie season. Rebounding is fairly even, yet Dwight plays in an era of pissweak centers. All Shaq.
@oldmanwithers1 Well, Shaq was stat-stuffing that year and Dwight has never really played with guards that know how to get a quick, accurate post entry pass. With that said, it's pretty obvious that Shaq in his prime was better. Dude was one of the most dominant big men we've ever seen. It's not even worth it to spend the effort on a comparison of their offensive skills and performance.
@King4945851 All Im saying is if you lose to a top team is better than losing to a lower ranked team any day. If you disagree your lying to yourself. Top team is better than losing to a top ranked team. Take this Mavs(1st) lost to Warriors(8th) and they still get criticize for it and while lost as well it never owned up as bad as them.
@King4945851 So losing to Bulls or Spurs is not better than losing to Cavs or Wolves. Or losing a boxing match to Manny Pacman or losing to A-Silva in a UFC fight is not acceptable? Or in politic losing a close raced election is not acceptable? Get out of here bud. Grizz are good but I don't compare them to Bulls not just yet as a team.
@King4945851 Kevin is the go to guy. They had no one granted he has step up. Danny granger was scoring champ and high scorer what about him? Al Horford is solid PF/C and I would of rather had him on the Blazers team than Durant. Hawks will eventually make him the first option till then he will have rather decent # than great.
@King4945851 I dont smoke crack I just like the sleepers. Why jump on the bandwagon while there are other players that are good. Like Rose nobody had him on the top ten best players last year now everybody is wanting jersey.
Daily? the fuck you talking about? Not many people dunk on him when he plays that is why when someone actually dunks on him the video gets put up so u get the illusion that he gets dunked on a lot.
@pimpsoldier0 u do hve ur point..but i m not here to argue wit u...i remember there was a week or 2...he was in the top 10 highlights almost every day he played...peace...
greg oden's potential is through the roof, but his injuries are keeping him down. Do i think oden in his prime can fit into shaq's shoes? hell no. Shaq is a bit washed up now, maybe not as quick or agile as he was before, but he's still a big body that can pass the ball pretty well.
Oden is an idiot! remember when he was on the SI cover saying he thinks he'll win like 14 titles haha, has he even played in a full game yet? hahahahaha
@reneperezz Are you fucking stupid? What's wrong with high expectations? He wasn't talking trash. He had high exceptions of himself and his team. Oden is a nice guy with glass knees.
Oden is actually very good and was a force for portland, when their offense was off, they would go to him to muscle and make something, and his defense was also very intimidating, he led the leauge in blocks before he got injured in 09, and with his defense the blazers blew out so many teams and had like 8 30 point wins, now they only win if their offense is on, and Kwame just sux. Poor Greg
@desertstorm21 yeah, that was a very, very, very long time ago. now, he's just taking his show on the road. hopefully he can keep riding it til the wheels fall off, because i am not looking forward to a shazaam sequel in imax 3D. anywho, it's it strange that a lot of big men gravitated to being a power forward instead of a playing center when shaq was at his prime?
U KNOW PORTLAND MUST B PISSED KNOWING DEY HAD THE CHOICE OF CHOOSING DIS GUY WHO LET INJURY AND EXPECTATION LET HIM DOWN ,AND KEVIN DURANT WHO LOOKS LIKE HE WILL BE ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS OF THE NEXT DECADE , dat is jokes , bradon roy and kevin durant on the same team would have bin nice , greg oden turning in2 a kwame brown if he dont fix up
TRUE TRUE , BUT in a sense of disapointment , i watched sum of greg oden high school highlights i woz finking dis dude woz gonna beast , hes miles betta den kwame , i would take any center from high school around america den 2 put kwame brown in my team
@Piotrasdabadman91 I dont even know why Jordan took a 2nd chance on him again. With all due respect to MJ; he needs to leave basketball alone because he doesnt have a clue about running a team in the front office. Kwame Brown is a disgrace to the NBA, he is the one who should be injury riddled.
shaq is by far the greatest force in nba history. stadning at 7'1 with 7'7 wingspan along with a 350 frame and u add in his 34 inch vertical in his prime, no center not even wilt has his stature. Closest guy to his ability was prob david robinson. Dwight is only 6'9.5 without shoes.
Watch the videos of the 2001 Finals vs the Sixers when Shaq repeatedly elbowed Mutumbo in the face. It's what he does the best unfortunately. He is a big guy with a lot of mobility and talent, but when he does a spin move his elbows go straight into the defenders face most of the time.
He's only been in the league for 2 years (1 year if you count that he was injured the entire 2007-2008 season). Give the guy a break. He's actually pretty good.
"Shaqs rookie" was probably also like Greg Oden's rookie only with 20+ lbs, more durability, and more college basketball experience to improve his game (3 years at LSU compared to Oden's 1 year at Ohio State). Give Oden time to grow. He'll be there in a few more years.
No one, but you have to think from the player's perspective. They may not get the chance again to join the NBA plus some think about the money they could earn compared to "work-study" in college. But I do think that player's should spend, at the least, 2 years in college to get a degree, work on your game or enjoy the college experience. Also, just because you attended college doesn't make you smarter. But I will admit, Shaq is pretty intelligent.
Yeah, except he does this 15-20 times a game evrytime he posts up. Its not an offensive foul whatsoever, just being strong with the ball. Oden needs to add 20 more pounds if he wants to have a chance against Shaq
thats funny you he needs to add 20 pounds your way off. He just lost 15 pounds he was at like 285 very few guys in the league even close to his size maybe only Bynum. Even Dwight Howard is about 265 they say.
He does barrel into guys a lot too, you can't just push your way to the rim when a guy has position defending diff. than this play. If that were the case every play he would get fouled or dunk fg% would be like 75-80.
u gusy act like its shaqs first year playing and greg is a rookie shaq is a vet so theres really no contest on whos better it has to be shaq by experiance
"Waaaaaay to much"? Oden has been injured only what: 2 times? And he's been in the league 2 years? That's actually pretty good compared to how many injuries other players have in multiple seasons. That's an over exaggeration, Igotgame911.
A year is a long time. His career is still progressing, so he still has time to develop. maybe so but bynum had kreme abdul jabar helping him improve and at one point kobe wanted him traded for jason kidd , he got better , greg oden i reckon will get betta dis yr , but no one is fuking wid dwight howard
blazers fans were so cocky in the beginning of season talking shit bout oden dominating... and taking howard's or shaq's place... that nigga is bigger and quicker than yao and yao shits on him. shitty blazers fans are dumbasses. this dude will never walk in shaq's, howard's, or yao's steps
lol oh yeah Durant is dominating.. its sooooooo sad for us. funny part is, with how much time Oden sits in a suit.. and how much Durant is dominating.. Oden still has more wins in the nba than Durant. I think we're ok thanks for worrying though. ;)
you tell em Mq404. we didnt need durant because we got scorers in B. Roy and Aldridge and Rudy and Webster. What we need is a big man that will man that post for us in the future. Can Durant x out big men and post up centers? No, he cant even bench 185!
Sweet... where do we hang the banners for semi finals appearances? That would be one awesome ceremony.. I could just imagine the goosebumps as I'm in the Rose Garden and the banner is unveiled... I'm getting chills already. dipwit
not only that Shaq has had those back problems started his later seasons with the lakers from people jumping on his back and hard fouls refs refused to call half the time claiming he was to big and dominant when a foul is a foul. Without that he would still be jumping and dunking all over people---- he still is he is just not as quick and explosive because of that.

and i do miss shaq in his old days with his 32" vertical.
it's funny how some people think shaq got fat and slow..
it's not fat.. he buffed up for his center position, and dominated that way, he gave up his 32" vertical for that in-the-paint dominance

LOL delusional Shaq fans.. Happy with a good individual performance, even though they lost and will be watching the playoffs!

sad portland fans had to sit and watch durant dominate the last two seasons while old man oden sits in a suit GREAT PICK UP!

lol oh yeah Durant is dominating.. its sooooooo sad for us. funny part is, with how much time Oden sits in a suit.. and how much Durant is dominating..

Blake, Roy, Durant, Aldridge and Pryzbilla beat the Houston Rockets and get out of the first round. Nuff said.

Sweet... where do we hang the banners for semi finals appearances? That would be one awesome ceremony.. I could just imagine the goosebumps as I'm in the Rose Garden and the banner is unveiled... I'm getting chills already. dipwit

not only that Shaq has had those back problems started his later seasons with the lakers from people jumping on his back and hard fouls refs refused to call half the time claiming he was to big and dominant when a foul is a foul. Without that he would still be jumping and dunking all over people---- he still is he is just not as quick and explosive because of that.
