I agree there are a lot of people on both sides of the Tea Party movement who think that they understand the issues just from a lot of sound bites. However, as someone with a financial and economic background, I have seen enough hard data to know the core issues of spending and waste are valid. In fact, I have not yet seen a cogent defense against the charges put forth by the Tea Party movement. Clinging to a rude sexual term insults rather than discredits, and is hardly a defense.

I've been trying, brother. This whole process has been one hell of an experience for me. I've been very disappointed in the lack of guidance from the White House on the public option. I'm not very pleased with the bill as it stands now. The mandates without a robust public option seem to be a huge windfall for the insurance companies. I've heard so-called moderates say this is significant reform. I know the House and Senate have to merge so maybe there's still hope. Who knows?

When their final copy came out, I read it in 3.6hours, because its not over 2000 pages long, the billis quadruple spaced, with margins that leave only half of the horizontal line to contain the text. I agree there are a lot of people on both sides of the Tea Party movement who think that they understand the issues just from a lot of sound bites. However, as someone with a financial and economic background, I have seen enough hard data to know the core issues of spending and waste are valid. In fact, I have not yet seen a cogent defense against the charges put forth by the Tea Party movement. Clinging to a rude sexual term insults rather than discredits, and is hardly a defense.

I've been trying, brother. This whole process has been one hell of an experience for me. I've been very disappointed in the lack of guidance from the White House on the public option. I'm not very pleased with the bill as it stands now. The mandates without a robust public option seem to be a huge windfall for the insurance companies. I've heard so-called moderates say this is significant reform. I know the House and Senate have to merge so maybe there's still hope. Who knows?

There is no reason to believe government is more honest than private corporations, other than government (the citizens) are overseeable & accountability is actually possible. Transparency is possible in gov., where it's not w/ private corps who have a track record of screwing those they claim to serve (& their only legal responsibility is to shareholders)

I was there but not one of the Tea Partiers. I saw Brad randomly going up to people and heard him ask the questions and some of the answers, especially the blond young women, who was okay with free clinics but not health care for all.
This was during the greatest time of misinformation on the issue and these people were clueless, Brad didn't have to cherry pick, it was an epidemic of ignorance. Video should embarrass Tea Partiers and I hope they've become more informed since.

Umm, the earmarks more recently became more controversial because most people did not know what and how they were being used. They are nothing but a bribe now a days for votes in their party. Sorry if i did not know about them a long time ago(gosh!). The rest of America also would most likely agree with me that our govt is racking up unprecedented debt. Obama gave a good campaign based on no earmarks, transparency and not letting lobbyists dictate legislation.

Moreover; the top 5% wage earners are currently responsible for more than 70% of what is retained by the Treasury. Unemployment is now at 10.2%, nobody is reporting capital gains income this year, and more Americans who did well in 2006-2008 can carryback 2009 losses to recover tax they paid in. US Govt will be BROKE.
