You may or may not recall that my mantra (which I never claimed to come up with myself) for improv is "live truthfully in an imaginary world", which may sound like it is just semantically different than what you said, but the semantics are a little bit of what makes it more about improv.
Either way, you're bang-on about the truthfulness part. When it comes to acting in general, or improv in specific, honesty and truth is where it gets fucking GOOD.
@mugsy1274 I don't know if you remember during the improv workshops for Gaia, there was one scene with Kelly (and quite possibly you, but I don't think so) that turned into something ridiculous about zookeepers feeding animals with animal crackers, and the animals only liked the crackers in their own shape...TOTALLY ridiculous, but since they committed to it 100%, to the TRUTH of that world...it was amazing.
as always a great video, cleary from the heart. the passion you have for what you want to do is will be what will "make it so" (totally stole a line from Jean-Luc Picard)
I love what you said about expression through acting. I feel it's similar with other arts too, except acting is more direct with actual human expression. Awesome.
@treavioli It's totally the same with other art forms - human expression, just in different types of media. I think I'm drawn to performance type arts because they involve my whole being, and they require that I'm present and in the moment. It's a rush. :)
I love your videos and I think that you'd be a great all around performer. You seem to know exactly what you're talking about and that's part of gaining success. Being knowledgeable in your craft is definitely going to help you get your dream job.
I love that definition of acting. My sister is trying to make it in New York as an actor and it seems like such a hard job. I have a feeling you're going to fulfill this dream of being a performer.
