Still, a high-scool project could build one of these. and people can train you on how to trick the device.

It's not necessarily stupid people who fall for cults like Scientology. People who are vulnerable in some way are the ones who are duped, often at a low point in their lives. I had two friends in college who entered cults, both people who had suffered a loss and were vulnerable and needy at the moment when the vultures ascended.

I think this video would have been more effective with a more likeable person, this girl seems snobby and on her own agenda, the creationist annoying her so much is a dead give away....she has a need to feel superior to others, I guarantee you this person thinks they're brilliant....she probably does need some help. It's not necessarily stupid people who fall for cults like Scientology. People who are vulnerable in some way are the ones who are duped, often at a low point in their lives. I had two friends in college who entered cults, both people who had suffered a loss and were vulnerable and needy at the moment when the vultures ascended.

@crn84106 ...given the numbers of people who would call themselves "scientologists", I think we can deduce that not all of them are stupid - it would be statistically improbable, would it not? I suspect that many are "recruited" when vunerable or simply seeking some purpose or truth - they run across this organisation and are literally hypnotised. My initial post was directed at jimmypain who feels superior to people on the basis of a subjective assessment of intelligence in itself, not clever.

the best thing about being an athiest for me is that i can look at and read what other religions have to say about things without a preset attitude like "this is blashpemy" or "whoever started this religion is heretic". Scientology looks like a fun religion to "Look at under the microscope" during my spare time.
