@oOToStopANightmareOo this is basically an outline of the movies plot in the first 8 minutes. it gives you a bunch of images that you can recognize as they reappear throughout the movie. if anything, its one of the best openings for a movie IMO, cus the music makes it so gripping, along with the cinematography
I watched Melancholia last night, and immediately after watching this scene I felt so submersed in the world of the director. I was gripped and it felt like it was going at just the right pace. Unfortunately, the rest of the movie followed. Ironically I found the movie far more confusing when the characters were actually speaking :/ Both Trier and Kubrick pull this off, but only Stanley really makes the magic last.
