I was pretty surprised that Apple didn't release a 3G version of the Iphone in Europe as they are extremely used to 3G.

Hopefully the 3G version is something to look forward to, for now I'll stick with my Samsung U900 for the time being.

A 3G iPhone is expected tor be released within 60 days. Most likely at WWDC(June 9-13). The wait is almost over!!!

The Iphone was not made 3G because apple did not want the iphone to have a reputation for having bad battery life. 3G Mobile devices have poor battery life or at least not as good as a 2G device. You will rarely need 3G anyway because your pretty much in a WIFI spot everywhere you go. It will only effected if you need to pull up youtube on the highway.

3G is just a way to classify the speed of the data between the cell phone and the carrier, ie Att or others like Verizon , Sprint but they call theirs 3G EV-DO(same difference). T-Mobile does not carry 3G but I heard they're upgrading. 3G speeds are said to be " broadband like " but in most cases it's not as fast as the broadband on your computer. The iPhone should of had 3G from the get because the browser is so extensive. With a phone like that, 3G should be standard.

The only slight hardware difference is that there would have to be a 3G chip in the iPhone as well (as well as an EDGE chip presumably) - but I don't see this actually making a physical difference as Apple are good at compacting stuff and putting them all in with little difference to the original size.

The main difference to the user would be that it would simply be faster.

Year right, if my 3 mobile falls back to 2g a web page takes ages(i.e about 30 seconds). But when in a 3G area loads web pages in a couple of seconds. I get a 3g signal virtual all the time except when in the middle of know where.

Windows Mobile devices are trash. I have spent over £900 on three Windows Mobile devices and have yet to get one that works reliably as a phone.

In fact I just threw my Jam hard on the street the other day, as I was so sick of it.

£415 of phone smashed beyond recognition, and buying it in the first place is the part I regret.

My current device is away for "repair" and I don't intend on seeing it again.
