More than 6 years ago, when the album was first released, this is what I said about it (an except from my review of the album): "The conclusion, 'Des Baches Wiegenlied' (20), has never been so beautiful. The tempo gets more and more slow, as if the stream were slowly coming to an end somewhere peaceful and far away from the face-up floating vulnerable wandering youth's former discontent. Eric Schneider, accompanying pianist, does an exceptional job." 10,000 listenings later I'm still blown away.
The tempo taken here is so peaceful...and heartbreaking.

Oh well, do you know the tenor versions of either Fritz Wunderlich or (my personal favourite) Werner Güra?Not heartmelting, but heartbreaking...

I think that the tenor voice better represents the young miller.. i also love Wunderlich's version! goerne is singing beautifully though

@erne3BT Well, check out Güra then, he IS the young miller with his clear pure young voice!

I don't agree, but either way, this song is sung from the brook's point of view... and a more mature, deeper, and comforting sound is more suiting.
