I feel that confidence comes from a feeling inside that you know something is true without a single doubt in your mind and you are willing to express your opinion on that subject in an extroverted manner. The basis of confidence is a personal sense of truth in the knowledge of what one sees to be fact. Confidence could be black and white, but when people have insecurities and false confidence comes into the picture then it's hard to understand why one feels so confident.
I have to be confident because if i'm not, they will eat me alive... It's really hard to be confident all the time... but sometimes you don't have other choice, it's a matter of survival.
... just knowing that they cant touch this :] Lol you know what i mean? I wont let them get under my skin, like a lot of nurses that i work with... easily getting overwhelmed and irritated back at them. Im still working on my patience, for me that has always been my biggest challenge. Any advice on patience ;] congrats on your partnership!
Im confident because Im sure of myself and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of me. I live my life, killing people with kindness so to speak. I work at a hospital in the ER most of the time and I run into a lot of rude, drunk, miserable, fed up human beings and they will start out calling me this or bitching about that and I dont let it effect my happiness and they see that. By the time I leave usually they have at least changed their attitude towards me and I get a boost of confidence..
You've applied through out YouTube withing days of my findings, informations and perspectives that I've either just gained or had for a long time. As you've spoken about how you have applied these perspectives, I myself have just or already done so. Keep up the great work, friend.
always thought that confidence came from you're childhood, from your experiences of life/friends and parents. but there's many types of confidence. i see people who look very confident, but they have this arrogant attitude, and i won't call that confidence, because sometimes i see that they look nervous from time to time, and have different attitudes if certain people aren't around. You also have this 1 person in your class that gets along with everyone, and this type is usually the confident1
I envy your skill in talking and thinking. You know exactly how to put words on things that I mostly agree with. If someone sat down next to me and asked me "why are people confident?" I wouldn't be able to answer because I wouldn't know how to put words on things and even if I could I surely wouldn't be on your level of intelligence. I'm like an Aman fanboy because I envy you, man. Keep doing your great work!
My confidence comes from a very simple thing. It's just that I am happy with myself how I am and with my really blurred goals in live. I know that I am not perfect, but I feel like I am on a good way. It's like being in gym. I might not lift the maximum weight, but the fact that I work out and my curiosity about how to train most efficiently makes me think that I will reach something in live.
@flexolos I might sometimes fail in certain things, but I know that I have the goods to live a good life if i try hard enough.
I also think that at least most humans have goods that will make them successful in something. I am European but this sounds like the American Dream I guess. lol
Well but who cares thats just my opinion. Maybe whether your worth your confidence depends on the goals that give your life a sense. If you are getting confidence by aspiring to hurt people, your not worth it.
Im confident when i know i can do something alot and still do it decently well.. i feel confident when someone says that they like something about my personality cause it makes me, me.. :) i am confident when i have delt with the fact that there are things i cannot change so from that point forward I need to move on and just do more instead of changing that which i cannot change. Try my best not to base my confidence on others because people come and go but my confidence needs to stay.
I think humility is more important than confidence. And that there's a thin line between confidence and arrogance. Arrogance seems like the power you get from others and confidence seems like the power you harvest within yourself.
But does anyone truly understand the meaning of life? Even people like us searching for answers, finding truth in various religions, do we really understand? Just because we might know our purpose or know how to attain that level of making ourselves superior, I don't think that's justification. Confidence comes from a combination of things, and sure, knowing our purpose may be one of them. But maybe it's more about acknowledging that we're LOOKING for answers rather than KNOWING the answers.
I think there is another place that confidence can come from:
that is knowing that you've lived your life with nothing to regret. You might have been through hard times, you might have made mistakes; but everything you've gone through built your character to what it is today and you wouldn't change any of it.
Maybe confident is WHY there is religion. Maybe confident is a key word to WHY people blindly believe in something that is written in a book like the bible and the Qu'ran. Confident that everything is going to be alright if they do as they should. It's way more scary to just be out there in the world with no god and no paradise
@7eloua Maybe you don't really believe? Doesn't your religion promise you that you will be okay if you just follow "the rules"... If you didn't have that "promise" to live by - then you would have nothing? Then it would just be you - wondering what will happen when you die, for the rest of your life.
@aichawr Rules are made to serve us and keep us on track, they are a tool to bring us to certain goals. We have rules and make rules for ourselves all the time. It's because we want to be good human beings. You say that without rules we would have nothing. I don't need a promise to want to want to be good, but it would be easier to follow my manufactured laws of righteousness than to wonder if you are being good enough in gods 'eyes'. But thats the beauty and challenge that I wouldnt wanna miss
I see your point - but I don't think you would find it easier without your religion. I think we all would be scared to death without an explanation to why and how we are here. That is what religion gives you. Confidence, safety and explanations to questions about existence and what happens after. Questions I personally don't think we should get from reading them in a book - but by following your heart and your instincts. Wow I sound cheesy!
@aichawr A full 100% confidence isnt possible in my mind, but that's maybe my caracter, I think a lot about stuff, but a good base is there already so i'm learning and still a student in life and we'll see. You do sound cheesy haha but I felt the sincerity.:p
what is confidence. interesting one. I don't really see myself as confident, and in the past I struck out a couple of times, because I wasn't confident, losing to pple with more confidence and being able to persuade other ppl of their standpoint trough argument, even if flawed. I often realise afterward I was right. and that gives me confidence for the next encounter. confidence is a behavioural skill, that needs to be honed. and often is not based on reality, just how you persieve it I guess.
Cognitive biases, like many behaviors, are influenced by evolution and natural selection pressure. Some are presumably adaptive and beneficial, for example, because they lead to more effective actions in given contexts or enable faster decisions, when faster decisions are of greater value for reproductive success and survival.
what makes someone confident? For me, i'm confident when i know there is nothing to lose and something to gain. You could say confidence comes from knowing and noone knows everything so to project confidence is a way of narrow-mindedness. "Why are you so confident?" "because i know"
confidence is good cockyness is when it goes to far and it depends on what it is if its a subject that you dont know a lot about you might want to double check using research to make sure that everything is right but if its something you cant fact check then you have to go with your instincts its the best thing you can do and ha bisky upload
Maybe im still in my late teen years and I still need some kind of approval from people to feel awesome, even though im trying not too. maybe im being shallow, but below me was just the things that came to my mind at first.
Confident comes from experience, it can start pretty early in anyones life if they have their way with it. I think it grows by having a great time with all sorts of people knowing that this is safe, i ca be around these guys without getting off the wrong track.
I think it boils down to people are afraid of the unknown, such as different kinds of groups of people, places things you imagine. Being confident is trusting in YOU and knowing you will be abble to come out of a situation nice and easy.
Or maybe it's believing you are or are doing good based on your (subjective) thoughts on what is good. And if the meaning of life is being good, than you may be confident sometimes about how you are (living). But if 'good' is judged by a higher authority than our confidence is always subjective.
I think confidence is initially faked until the point where one actually believes it & therefore convincing others. From then on after we can refer back to when we felt confident & why we felt confident & kinda just use that same feeling. I think that's why we sometimes tend to loose some of our confidence in an overly unfamiliar situation, causing us to sometimes reevaluate ourselves. Well...I tried my best to put into words my feeling of confidence.
If you can't give just one definition to confidence, then why should you....just like love, for everyone it's another thing described different and experienced different. Confidence is your little mix of feeling+neurotransmitters+experiences+courage+...+...etc. The meaning of life is not linked to confidence but to values and goals and if you have confidence along the way, good for you. However sometimes a lack of confidences helps to think better and therefor search meaning.
What little bit of confidence I have, I've only gained from experience.
Like when I first tore apart my carb on my lawnmower to rebuild it.. I had no confidence. I just had to get it done, so I did it. Well I put the thing back together and my lawn mower worked good.
And well I had to take it apart again, like after a half a year. (thought I did, turned out it was a short).. but it wasn't as overwhelming the second time around. Because hey, I'd done it before. Watching vids also helped.
confidence huh .... to me is just something people use to get by in everyday life ...... like in a certain task i have the confidence im a great accountant soo im gonna work as an accountant ......or good lookin enoff to walk out my house and hold my head all tall to me its wat drives use to do wat we do in every day life .......say that i guess now its part of drive and without drive we have nothing
thats why when someone says there ugly they lack confidence to walk with there head held high!
What is the meaning of life, Aman? I don't think there is one, it seems arrogant to think we have some sort of purpose. I think Richard Dawkins made a good analogy about it, when someone's young they ask why rocks are pointy, and they are told it's so animals can scratch on them when they're itchy, but they grow out of that thinking; however as adults some think there is a "purpose" for living. I'm actually curious as to what (you think) it is, you should make a video about it :P
@AmanJohnX If by coincidence you mean by chance, no I don't think so, but chance and creation aren't the only two options. And if there is a creator, why does it have to be an authority?
@thebandz Why do you separate "chance"/"coincidence" and "creation"? If anything, do you not think that maybe chance/coincidence would not occur without some force instigating that chance to take place? I would really like your take on these questions :) Also, what other option do you offer regarding the existence of the universe?
@thebandz Which reminds me, you said in one of your videos that with atheists morality is subjective because we don't believe in something higher to be an objective morality, but morality is simply what is most beneficial, isn't it? You seem to have a weird perspective on atheism, I suggest you read The God Delusion, and the chapter titled "If There Is No God, Why Be Good?"
@thebandz So you say it isn't a fact that god doenst exist? Isnt that the first thing atheists believe? Ok but the comparaisson with a unicorn is rather funny but not very alike :p. This isnt about a fairytale made up animal, but about how life can be as it is.
@7eloua xD No, atheists believe there aren't any gods, not that it's a fact that there are no gods. Again, using unicorns as an analogy, it isn't a fact that unicorns don't exist, but we're pretty damn sure they don't! And yes, but that doesn't change the fact that there isn't any evidence for it. If I gave two made up propositions: a fairy that pukes rainbows and the universe is a spaghetti noodle, is the latter more true just because it covers something bigger?
@thebandz If you believe that there aren't any gods and you volontairily name yourself atheist(why should you if you are confident anyway?) then for you that is a fact, or else you dont call yourself atheist. There is evidence, just look around you is what Aman said in earlier videos. And if you can be confident about explaining that then maybe you can be confident about saying that there is no evidence, if not then you just take the easy way by comparing it to unicorns which is not comparable.
@7eloua Please, don't get the word "fact" involved in this; Facts are facts whether you believe them or not, beliefs are conclusions based on evidence but they are not facts (however there are those that think that it's an absolute fact there is no god, those are called gnostic atheists and they're very rare). Saying that the world is evidence for God is like saying that presents are evidence of Santa Claus! To me, unicorns are comparable, but whatever. There simply is no evidence!
@thebandz Facts are the things that we have been able to measure, but do we have the right and precise materials or measuretechniks for everything as simple humans? So you believe there is no god, but you have no evidence :D. No saying that there is the world is not direct evidence for god but thinking about what created it does make you think about options. Options we people maybe can not measure with our little machines.
@7eloua "So you believe there is no god, but you have no evidence :D" xD I'm sorry, but the burden of proof is on the one making the supernatural claims, not on the one rejecting them. Where the universe came from is an unbelievably big question that us atheists can't answer (yet), but it doesn't make sense for it to assume that it came from a supreme being. It also brings an even bigger question: What did the creator of the universe come from?
Confidence still resides in the realm of both nature/nurture. On one hand, some people have genetically wired to produce more feel good chemicals the give the appearance of confidence. On the other through life and experience where when you feel confident by performing enough actions where you can rely on yourself, that others can also rely on you. i.e walking. I'm sure your pretty confident in that. Confidence equates to grace and grace to success in peoples mind.
it's interesting, reading the comments, confidence seems to be perceived as a golden quality with lucid features that makes lives more successful. i reckon someone probably started an extremely successful self help book/tour/movement in the US which has just been deeply accepted, often repeated, and largely forgot. all 'confidence' means is the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something, firm trust, a state of feeling certain about the truth - IS this so important? or even good?
@rrff7755 I did not read selfhelp books to come to my awnser. Confidence in my opinion is most of the time a feeling based on subjective things that may or may not be part of the meaning of life. I admit that, just as I admit that my confidence sometime can come from confirmation even if that is not that important. So what is confidence was the question. It's not an predescribed thing as you can see in the comments. What; s your confidence or the lack of it?
i think the importance placed on being confident, especially in US culture, is obscene. why should we all be told to walk round sure we're capable? or as it's often put it to women, that they're attractive. why not put emphasis on BECOMING capable, or realising there's more to you than how you look. why on earth is seeming sure of yourself posed as more important than seeming humble, cautious, kind, intelligent, for example. people are better off at peace with themselves, but confident? why?
I am confident because I feel that I have more competitive spirit than others when it comes to things I love. I feel that if challenged, I can out perform anybody if motivated enough. I do not think I am smarter or better than anybody else on this planet, but I do feel that I have a better drive and more heart when it comes to things I am passionate about.
Confidence is not being afraid, ultimately understanding those around you, understanding that they are you and you are them, so like you said, that or manufactured bliss, not caring. Confidence is normal, being afraid in society, is and animalistic by product
Confidence is just not worrying about what others think and just doing what you love and if people don't like it then that's fine....b/c you will never make everyone happy so you just have to be yourself and other people like you will stay in your life :) Plus confidence, smiling, being yourself and being able to make fun of yourself is attractive!!! You can be the best looking person in the room but if you have no personality or a negative personality then people won't stay in your life long.
I cant be confident all the time, but sometimes about some things I am confident. Those moments are moments that I strongly believe in myself getting through life or some things that happen or it also comes from a mental force that gives youthe 'confidence' that you will fight for that thing you believe in no matter what. Confidence is also confirmation by especially the ones you love or the ones of who stand a little higher than others when it comes to the importance of what they say...i dunno
Dude, you totally do not get recognized enough! Your videos are great and you deserve to be much higher up on Youtube! You are the deepest and most profound Youtuber i know. I know you'll be famous one day! Keep on being awesome!
I believe that confidence can surface in multiple forms. I don't think it is an all encompassing characteristic, but a feeling of security in one's ability to feel safe in a certain situation. For instance someone who gets a lot of "hoes" may feel confident in that area of life but have no confidence in their ability to manage their own time. On the other hand, a diligent worker may be confident that they can make the most highly organized schedule, but have to work HARD to get a girl.
Aman you are awesome! Keep on doing great videos, I love them all! Love from Canada!

@thebandz How can one be so confident on the 'fact' that there is no higher force or god? Where does that confidence come from?
7eloua 2 months ago
@7eloua haha! I never said it was a fact! I don't believe because there is simply no evidence, same reason I don't believe in unicorns.

@thebandz So you say it isn't a fact that god doenst exist? Isnt that the first thing atheists believe? Ok but the comparaisson with a unicorn is rather funny but not very alike :p. This isnt about a fairytale made up animal, but about how life can be as it is.
7eloua 2 months ago
@7eloua xD No, atheists believe there aren't any gods, not that it's a fact that there are no gods. Again, using unicorns as an analogy, it isn't a fact that unicorns don't exist, but we're pretty damn sure they don't! And yes, but that doesn't change the fact that there isn't any evidence for it. If I gave two made up propositions: a fairy that pukes rainbows and the universe is a spaghetti noodle, is the latter more true just because it covers something bigger?
thebandz 2 months ago
@thebandz If you believe that there aren't any gods and you volontairily name yourself atheist(why should you if you are confident anyway?) then for you that is a fact, or else you dont call yourself atheist. There is evidence, just look around you is what Aman said in earlier videos. And if you can be confident about explaining that then maybe you can be confident about saying that there is no evidence, if not then you just take the easy way by comparing it to unicorns which is not comparable.
7eloua 2 months ago
@7eloua Please, don't get the word "fact" involved in this; Facts are facts whether you believe them or not, beliefs are conclusions based on evidence but they are not facts (however there are those that think that it's an absolute fact there is no god, those are called gnostic atheists and they're very rare). Saying that the world is evidence for God is like saying that presents are evidence of Santa Claus! To me, unicorns are comparable, but whatever. There simply is no evidence!
thebandz 2 months ago

Confidence equates to grace and grace to success in peoples mind.

it's interesting, reading the comments, confidence seems to be perceived as a golden quality with lucid features that makes lives more successful. i reckon someone probably started an extremely successful self help book/tour/movement in the US which has just been deeply accepted, often repeated, and largely forgot. all 'confidence' means is the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something, firm trust, a state of feeling certain about the truth - IS this so important? or even good?
rrff7755 2 months ago
@rrff7755 I did not read selfhelp books to come to my awnser. Confidence in my opinion is most of the time a feeling based on subjective things that may or may not be part of the meaning of life. I admit that, just as I admit that my confidence sometime can come from confirmation even if that is not that important. So what is confidence was the question. It's not an predescribed thing as you can see in the comments. What; s your confidence or the lack of it?
7eloua 2 months ago
i think the importance placed on being confident, especially in US culture, is obscene. why should we all be told to walk round sure we're capable? or as it's often put it to women, that they're attractive. why not put emphasis on BECOMING capable, or realising there's more to you than how you look. why on earth is seeming sure of yourself posed as more important than seeming humble, cautious, kind, intelligent, for example. people are better off at peace with themselves, but confident? why?
rrff7755 2 months ago
