Basketball-Reference has Mitch Richmond as the #88 greatest player in NBA history. Do you think he is a top 100 player of all time? I would say it's borderline, so #88 isn't a terrible place for him, and 20,000 career points doesn't lie.
So my high school teammate PoletBally just told me how he started dunking, he s not even as tall as me but leaps over 8 inches taller! What he used the workout over at | 50 inch vertical [dot] com | and gained over 15 inches in his vertical jump!
I'm a young guy, but I think that Bernard King's jumper is one of the smoothest, prettiest shots ever. Definitely up there with Allen, Richmond, and Jordan. Man doesn't get the recognition he deserves- he ought to be in the Hall.
sorry whoever posted this video but if you actially look at MJ's jumpshot his was by far the prettiest I have ever seen. Not saying he was a pure shooter like RICH, and ALLEN, and people always forget Allen HOUSTON who was as good or better as either of those two. But to look at No-one looked prettier than MJ's from 93-98
A great player on a terrible team. Won an All-Star MVP Award, never backed down to the league's greats. Jordan said Richmond was the only shooting guard that he couldn't stop in the paint. Truly one of the NBA's most underrated players... A true superstar by stats and a true professional on giving his career loyalty to Sacramento. Congrats on the jersey retirement, much deserved.
alot of people forget about this guy, his jumper was a thing of beauty but he will always be lost in a basketball convo because of people like glen rice and reggie miller and ray allen
Richmond was a beast...one of the most underrated players ever to play.....he played on 3 out of the 4 California teams...and played alongside Kobe and Shaq on the 02' Lakers championship squad... wow.. what a team
The Warriors were so dumb for trading him when they had the Run-TMC thing going. It looks like they let Don Nelson make the same mistake twice in a lifetime by trading J-Rich to the Bobcats for a rookie he hardly even plays.
i think the warriors made the trade too late. back in 91' the kings had the 3rd overall pick...and was hoping kenny anderson would be there. nets got him and they picked up billy owens who didnt want to play for sac. obviously, billy owens didnt pan out for gs. if they wouldve traded before the draft, warriors couldve used the #3 to get dikembe. mullin, hardaway and a stopper in mutombo probably wouldve caused more match up problems than with billy-o IMO.
sadly in his late years he lost his touch, whatever I was happy that he got a ring in the end, love guys with a good shoot, so many young guys can't shoot anymore ... *sighs*
Jordan and Reggie Miller said he was one of the hardest players to guard in the NBA. Jordan said he had almost no weaknesses in his game. That says a lot.
I'm born and raised here in Sac....he was my favorite player of all-time.....I even caught a game live when he was that RUN-TMC team.....I hope he makes the Hall!!!
one of my favorite kings players. deserved more attention than he got. hell, he played for a lousy sac kings team! but trading him to the wiz was the catalyst for the 'golden age' of the kings. it killed me as a true kings fan to see him win a title w/ the lakers in 02'!
I used to be a big fan of this guy while i grew up. He was second best only to Jordan in his prime on that position but was never given credit he deserves
If you had to describe mitch richmond in one word it would simply be... underrated

Glen Rice also had a pretty shot too. He never shot of balance. He always went straight up in the air when he shot.

its v similar to ray allen's, he just brings the ball closer to his head before he releases it.

he had to make his shots, mainly because none of the other kings could do it haha.
he had to carry the kings for years and years and face double/triple teams every night. pretty much everything this guy did was a marvel to watch.

Jesus Shuttlesworth's jumper is more compact and quicker. But for pure smoothness and being prettiest, can't beat The Rock's stroke.

100% agreed. Title contenders for a decade, at least.

Great PURE shooting guard. He doesnt need to draw the foul because his jumper is that clean.
