  • nice show.

  • It's sad that Stanford University degrades its prestigious status by letting this embarrassment of a performance happen on a constant basis.

  • how that college can look at that pathetic band and not be embaressed is beyond me !!!

  • How do these people get into stanford in the first place?!

  • the band is on the field....the band is on the field!.....BAM

  • this is just lazy.

  • @dabadanman if you say so

  • can this even be considered a marching band ?

  • Comment removed

  • I always though Stanford's band was better than my high school band but not even.... They really suck..But i still want to be in Stanford Unv.

  • is that guy playing a sink

  • Their style is scatter because they're non- conformist... Hippies

  • @CIassicR0CK Yeah, we hate creative people.

  • holy shit they suck so bad! lol

  • My High school Band can school this college marching band. <3 ;)

  • @TBMfan92 That's because this marching band satirizes marching bands (along with everything else.)

  • @TBMfan92 but can your high school band do it while high on enough LSD to kill a horse? Methinks NOT.

  • @oenoneablaze Lol... that's illegal :P

  • they suck!!!!!!!

  • And those are the people we'll all be working for some day

  • LOOOOL the guy drumming on the sink xD

  • Hahaha "want a hot dog?" XD

  • I love Stanford! That's my dream college and I can't wait to get there and play in the band and play sports! Even though I'm only in 7th grade(:

  • They literally march everything AND the kitchen sink.

  • LOL im an 'SC fan and these guys are hilarious!

  • That's just tuuuuurrible.

  • That's just tuuuuurrible.

  • Definitely not my style of band, but I cant hate on em. Looks like theyre having fun playing music so thats all that matters lol

  • was one of them playing a sink? lmao

  • Wow... just wow... this is kinda embarassing... if it was The JMU Marching Royal Dukes or the VT Marching Virginians MAYBE they could make fun of USC but this is just sad....

  • Excerpt from the LA Times regarding USC:

Average SAT scores of incoming students, once so low that in 1987 that the irreverent Stanford marching band spelled them out with just three digits, soared this fall to 1,309, eclipsing those of UCLA freshmen for the first time.

  • HILARIOUS!!!! 55-21 hahahah... too bad SUC.. Cheater University....

  • I DONT FUCKEN GET THESE JOKES BANDS ARE PLAYING AGAINST EACH OTHER

  • @Maplebangeek Probably because you went to USC.

  • @Wasuwasu18 im not even in college yet -.-

  • I was at this game and it was hilariiiiiouuuuus! The band talked about alumni from Stanford such as Tiger Woods, the CEO's of Hewlitt Packard, Morgan Stanley, and other great alumni. The USC fans just sat there and were like "OK."

Then the announcer said an alumni from USC named Joe Francis and all the USC fan's cheered. But when the announcer kept saying stupid stuff....all the USC fans felt stupid. I was crackin up the whole time!!!!

  • Interesting that Stanford left out people like, say, Neil Armstrong or Judd Apatow, both SC grads. Good thing LA didn't kick your sloppy asses out like Eugene did, back in the 90's. We'll see how well the Cardinal fares without their treasured Toby Gerhart ;)

  • Okay....I'm not a Stanford fan but okay. I sense a lil hostility towards Stanford for, hmmm IDK, whooping on you guys. I'm a Pac-10 fan. I hate all these Texas & down South folk who say West Coast football is whack from HS to Pro. I actually wanted SC in this game. At the time they still had the rank & ability to keep climbing. But they got whooped. Not my fault.

I call it how I see it. And I'm sorry but they got whooped on the field both by the team and the band. It really was funny.

  • Plus, let's not forget more SC grads like Ron Howard, George Lucas, Jerry Buss, Will Ferrell, and even John Wayne. I'm not knocking SC. SC is awesome. They just got punk'd that day and even if you go to the band to this day, which I did, they don't wanna talk about it. It's a husssssssshhhh silence of bitterness. It's just flat out funny!

  • @est1

It was VERY funny. The rivalry between Stanford and USC's marching bands is always fun. The band members won't tell you this,so I will: USC alums fucking HATE Joe Francis. The Spirit of Troy has played with professional musicians such as Radiohead, and quite well-maybe their pride was bruised. Don't forget Michael Tilson Thomas,Warren Christopher,Forrest Whitaker,Janet Evans,Cheryl Miller,Lisa Leslie,Marilyn Horne,Edward Saxxon,John Singleton,Brad Thor, etc.

  • Toby Gerhart, a guy with an IQ above 90, a player with integrity and passion for his sports, a guy who takes 21 college credits at STANFORD and still manages to hold a 3.25, double majors in something other than Communications and General Studies, doesn't get free Range Rovers or Cadilacs from his school, and still dominates superior competition, while being classy of course. But just a side note ; )

  • @PedroF1026 Not to mention Andrew Luck...even a bigger class act.

  • you cant kick'm out of their own state ya humorless pussy

  • @MasterJoBob One can wish, hahahaha. Well in either case I sense a landslide victory this year for SC.

  • @guitarbumx

LOL,landslide victories aren't in the picture this season. However, don't be surprised if the USC marching band kicks the offensive line out of the way and attacks the football team themselves. That dancing tree mascot should beware of the drum major's sword. :-P

  • The stanford band should mock lame quiffing this season, since SUC plays at stanford stadium this fall!

  • University of South Central...

  • LOL its funny because its TRUE

  • I was at the game and caught the LSJuMB's routine. I'm an alum of USC and I have to say that this was one the band's better efforts. Hey, it's not like we can deny that Francis went to USC! Thanks for the laughs, as always. And for you fellow Trojan alums and fans...get a fucking sense of humor. Please.

  • It's a scatter band. The whole point is to not have uniformity or precision. Everyone just does their thing and has a good time

  • so basically you guys are too lazy to coordinate things and just do whatever no matter how bad it looks

    that is so dumb

    its a MARCHING band

not a MAKE A FOOL OF YOURSElF band

    get some class

  • @jayry55 You need to calm down. You're just coming across as a square. Go play some Sudoku.

  • most of them didn't even have uniforms and one guy didn't have shirt 2:32

  • I think it's fun. And i'm not a member btw. They dress up like crazy, fool around, and show some school spirit in typical Stanford style. I would prefer this kind of scatter band to a marching band.

  • thanks for your opinion but i really didn't ask for it

how is this showing school spirit?

and if it is a MARCHING band

    then why do they scatter

    makes no sense

all of the Stanford fans near me, which was the entire section, were all embarrassed with the band

  • This is a public forum, every one shares their opinions, so no reason to be a douche about it

  • haha

    oh you are so funny

only a Stanford fan would resort to name calling

and you specifically stayed away from the question because you knew you had no answer

  • i'm not going to respond anymore after this as you are resorting to low levels

  • Man, you need to lighten up. The Stanford band rules.

  • you know me so well

i do need to lighten up

    the Stanford band sucks

  • Nah, I don't know you so well and maybe you don't need to lighten up but the Stanford band is a lot of fun. I love the USC marching band but I also love the Stanford band. It's just a different deal. It's a pity you can't just sit back and enjoy them for what they are. Stanford and USC are my two favorite college bands- they're both extremely memorable.

  • i was watching the el paso bowl game, and the stanford band couldn't play a song

you would think Stanford, the great school as it is, would have a nice band

  • why should we have a nice band? nice bands aren't fun, and marching in straight lines while playing Sousa and bad arrangements of alternative rock songs isn't fun either. We can show spirit without being lame, and that's what we do. Our sports teams love us, and so does most of the student body. Most other schools don't give a shit about their bands, especially when they play the same damn 15 second song segment every 5 minutes.

  • @flammwad My band has fun, we march in 'straight' lines, as well as challenging formations. If it wasn't fun, some of the great bands of the midwest, for instance would be nothing. We have spirit and we have pride and we have honor. You guys may have a different style, and we don't act like a rabble of raving maniacs on the field, but we probably have more passion because we work harder to meet the challenge of being a great band. So don't call us "lame" because we actually march.

  • @flammwad

what's lame is bringing a rude show like that to an away game, who are you trying to impress? I'm on the other side of the country and i'm ashamed to see that. You're not a marching band, you're a bunch of elementary school kids running around making unrecognizable pictures on the field

  • @flight1510 dude its called a scatter band its what they do. this style has been around scince the vietnam war. and now only 10 colleges are still doing this style. and ususally when a school has this type of band they dont either have a music school or they arenot apart of a music school and the band is run pretty much by the students

  • @TheDragonmaster18

ha i understand what kind of band it is, you clearly didn't read the comment I was replying to. Him saying "marching in straight lines" and playing "sousa arrangements of pop songs" is lame is what prompted me to say that, in addition to the fact that the show in this video is just an obnoxious thing to do at an away game.

  • ZOMG. I have no connection to Stanford whatsoever but for the last week after I read about this I knew I HAD to see it. So terrible, so awful, so amazing all at once. I didn't imagine how it could be so long, or sustain such an obnoxious, condescending tone for an entire halftime period. This really is epic.

  • Thanks for posting the entire show... effing hilarious!
