Actually, that's on deck 2. The button is labelled "gangway" (and is programmed to whatever deck you disembark from, based on where the ship is!). From deck 2, you actually go down a further escalator (!) to get to deck 1, where you actually embark and disembark from (to the piers). In Fort Lauderdale, you embark and disembark on deck 5, directly to/from the Royal Promenade.
I guess there are crew elevators which also serve lower decks; I didn't manage to ride those during our time aboard.
