  • Why 4.44? Why not 4.45? ATV's scheduling must have been completely insane or incrediblly pedantic.

  • This was obviously a b/w production because the end cap was the one they used at the end of b/w broadcasts, not the colour one which wer'e all familiar with. I remember the later colour series of Golden Shot with Charlie Williams and Norman Vaughn, I seem to remember Bob Monkhouse returned to do one more series in about 1975, which is the one I remember most, with Weh Weh Wong.

  • Ah my Mum was pulled out the audience on the Golden Shot show when she was a teenager and ended up winning a cool record player. I'm trying to find the episode with her on! Her names Bernadette if anyone finds it, msg me please. :)

  • Did anyone catch Bob's Liberace improv at the start?

  • @cozener1 Yes, I did.

  • Like the theme music!

  • @phil1958uk It was written by the late Jack Parnell a former Bandleader. Very catchy

  • I used to watch this when I was a kid with my parents in 1970....only because we had a colour telly.

  • He was a Yorkshireman with an unmistakeable laugh who addressed people, male and female as "my flower".

  • Yes those were the days -pre digital TV - pre Internet and just 3 TV channels. Yet somehow we survived.

  • Bernie - the bolt! I remember Clive Dunn appearing and singing "Grandad" and the hilarious "Alf Ittytittymus". Those were the days. Flying teacups!!!

  • i wonder if it's true that one viewer tried to play from a phone box? It does ring a bell, seem to remember Bob asking if she could actually see the TV as she was sending the camera all over the place

  • I read that tale in Bob's book. The bloke was in a high street phone box while trying to see the tvs in a tv shop.

This was one of the tv highlights of a Sunday afternoon. I liked Bob as presenter but stopped watching when he went.

  • 'Live from Birmingham'

That's enough to put anyone off :D

  • @Danny7Ings You are funny, There were a lot of live shows from that studio in Birmingham, I know as I did many of them.

    Cheers.

    Jackie Lee.

  • Anne couldn't add up, Yutte could only speak broken English and with Bob holding all the live chaos together is why it was such a great show.

  • ...Bob, a true professional, and Anne Aston too....!!

  • Up a bit...left a bit... right a bit... FIRE!

  • I see Yutte Stensgaard on the credits there. She was a Hammer horror films vampire too.

  • a sad loss was Bob

  • has anyone got the whole show as i would love to see it as i was on this one. thankyou.

  • I'm sure somewhere, but I don't have it. Sorry!

  • Were you an actual contestant on the show ?

  • No, I was not. I just love this show though!

  • Then why did you write " I was on this one " Just curious

  • Someone else posted that comment. That was not me. The user kathieful said that if you saw.

  • Katy were you actually on the show as a contestant ?

  • yes same show as clive dunn singing grandad.unable to get a copy

  • Wow ..keep looking ..It would be fantastic to see yourself, I shouldn't wonder . Pity no videos then. If you ever find it , let me know will you ? . l'd love to discover myself on a TV show that I was on . HAve you tried calling up ATV ( I know they don't exist , but maybe some archive has the tapes ?

  • This episode still exists in as I remember seeing it on Challenge TV at Christmas about 5 or 6 years ago.

Jackie Lee was on singing the theme to Rupert, Clive Dunn sang Grandad and Jack Douglas was on as Alf Ipititimus (or something like that).

I think ITV own the rights to most of the ATV/ITC archive so might be worth contacting them.

  • thank-you Stuart i was told it was on, but i have tried ringing ,with no luck i think becauce of copy rights but i will try again

  • @stuart121972 Well I never, I didn't think that anyone would remember that show, I am amazed. I must say It was great to see my name in the star position. They were indeed the days of wine and roses.

    Cheers'

    Jackie lee.

  • yes same show as clive dunn singing grandad

  • Thanks for putting this up, has Noel Edmonds stolen the talking over the end credits idea I wonder?

  • I am not for certain on that.
