@buioomega Apparently it's already been picked up for a second season. We'll see if it gets there, I guess. As you say, reality TV is far too prevalent in popular culture right now for much else to get a look-in. Genre TV like this has had a very bad track record on network TV (for example, the excellent shows Brimstone and Space: Above & Beyond both lasted one season). Sometimes I want to give Joe Public a good solid beating with a sackful of doorknobs...

@doovid9 I know it was written before the film - it just seemed funny that so many people were lambasting it for being so similar without actually knowing any precise details. In any case, Day Of The Triffids did the whole "hero wakes up from convenient coma" thing in the fifties, so it's hardly an original idea in the first place :)

The Walking Dead Is probably one of the best graphic novels i have read... of its type at least... and who cares if its similar to 28 days later why ruin a good thing? you can prolly look back at survival horror movies before 28 days and find someone waking up in a hospital and call 28 days later a rip off... if movies had to make a brand new thing to start with or make a new story about every movie that is basically the same it would be stupid and impossible... people will always bitch anyway

The guy who wrote the comic did start writing it before '28 Days Later' was released. It would have been impossible to modify the story to story he developed to not include that part, in fact it would ruin it and it is a very good story. If you can make it past the initial 'they stole that from 28 days later' then I urge you to give it a chance.

Actually 28 days is too Day of the Trifids. I know the 20 year or so gap makes it hard to remember but 28 days is no original piece of work, just a very good movie in much the same way that this will hopefully be a very good series.

Hell if Darabont is handling it, I'll watch, and if it sucks I'll shut it off.

damn, even if nobody believes me but 2 years ago i told a friend of mine, how cool would it be to make an hbo style series of the film "day of the dead", with the zombie problem in the background and the social problems of the surviving group in the front. i even had a title sng for it r.e.m - its the end of the world as we know it.^^

@StanWin09 almost every zombie series or movie operates in exactly that way to some degree, and a continuing series basically has to, otherwise you just have an hour of zombie-blasting every week. it would be boring, might as well play a zombie video game. thats why most of them concentrate on its effects on the characters.
