  • Well.I don't live in Afganistan..I live in West Texas. My little bushmaster has gone about 3 years without a cleaning..probably 6000 rounds..being drag through the dusty sagebrush fields. Chasing pigs. The only issue I have ever had is shooting the hell out of it and leaving a round in a hot chamber overnight. Case sticks in chamber after its fired. Just gotta remember to get the case out of the chamber and let it cool a few minutes. Maybe ill clean my Ar 15 next year..after deer season.

  • lot of smack talk here and the saiga 308-1 is more dependable than any bushmaster although the bushmaster is more accurate But under 500 yards and that is most conflict/hunting it may not be able to hit a man between the eyes a chest shot yes the 308 can punch holes through block walls.cars and body armor The bushmaster is great for target shooting but i will stay with my 308 as a battle weapon

  • @texas1807 well this is because the .223 and 556 NATO were made mainly as a cal to injure rather than to kill, you injure one enemy and you take 3 enemies out of the fight, simply because it takes 2 people, and at times one body to move and injured person, however within the hunting aspect and remingtons acu-bond .223 bullet for big game hunting seems to be carrying its own weight, but iam with you on the .308 i would have no issue taking a bear with a .308, .223 HELL NO

  • Well..again..not a competition between the guns..but I do love my bushmaster...id love it more if it had a floated barrel though.:-)

  • @armedtotheteeth1974 with bushmaster and remington merging you can now find an offspin of the remingonts R-25 with bushmaster styling, both have a free floated chrome lined barrel both in 22" and 18" barrel lengths, i personally like the 18" feels alot more ballenced with less weight at the muzzle, starting cost is $1200, at least thats what it is here, and i live in Upstate NY

  • come on, cant beat bushmaster. Sorry, but bushmaster are the best.

  • yeah i know. people start wars over Ars vs Aks. morons cant accept the fact that we are just out shooting. the Ak goes Bang and so does the Ar..everydamn time. Aks are cheap..Ars are not. I have seen the cz that shoot the 7.62s..and they are accurate..as most czs are..esp with the neat trigger that they have. its not the round that makes aks shoot like crap..its the piece of barn tin they use to stamp out a receiver.

  • This page is full of the AK video war game players and the tweekers, the glue sniffers and ignorant kids that think any gun made in Russia is something so superior that can blow down buildings, shot a man in the eye at 2000 yards, shot billions of rounds and never fail and Russia is a cool soft friendly country where thy can even call Putin and say hay lets have a Beer at the pub !

American and Canadian kids move back from your computer war games and get the real facts before posting crap !

  • I cant wait to get my hands on this!

  • I have no doubt that the Bushmaster is superior. I knew that before even watching. The saiga is like $200-300 gun. Cool vid.

  • my two cent... i have arsenal ak , good quality rifle. went to range 100 yrds all over the paper. the open sites on that platform suck ...put a 100 scope on it 14 rounds in 3in at 100yrd....it just the open sites are bad...

  • Well..with handloaded ammo..and optics..this one shoots about 4 to 6 MOA. There is a lot of slop built into these guns.

  • I have heard of Saiga's shooting MOA with optics and match grade ammo.

  • Redmartian..opinions are like assholes..everybody has one and they stink. Anyways..shot that same ar 15 this weekend and a iron gong that was 6 in by 8 in. Range measured by gps was .35 MILES. Id say I was about 80 percent for a gong. No damn chance in hell a saiga could do that. Oh..I served in the military..don't fuckin play that card

  • @armedtotheteeth1974 Could care less, if I had to fight for a short time i'd choose AR15, if it was over a long period of time it would be the saiga..."opinions are like assholes..everybody has one and they stink"...that doesn't mean yours are right.

  • ye take your time to shoot 1 shot and then make ten fucking circles around the gun. FUCK.

  • Well.if you where going to war againsts me..id hope you'd use the Saiga too. Id sit back at 400 yards poppin skulls with a Ar15. The Jamomatic reputation is 40 years ago. And the saiga isn't inaccurate because of the round..its inaccurate because of the action bein all clanky and loose. I have seen a few bolt action 7.62x39s and they are pretty accurate. I haven't cleaned my ar15 in probably 2000 rounds..and it doesn't care. They don't like steel laquered ammo though..they like brass.

  • What combat that does occur beyond three hundred yards is handled by weapons that are much heaver than a .223. I don't know what makes you think the enemy is just going to keep coming at you in waves, unarmored at that and let you shoot them. You sound very immature and very ignorant for someone in their thirties.

  • @redmartianresident some people go so fucking crazy over the fucking M16. Sure it's a nice match rifle but it wasnt build for combat like the AK47. The gun is just too fucking flawed to have remained in service as long as it has. accuracy is it's one and only virtue. it doesnt have stopping power, it doesnt have reliability, and its too damn expensive. There are many good reasons why this weapon will never achieve the status of the Ak47

  • @armedtotheteeth1974 Say have you seen the CZ bolt action rifle chambered in 7.62x39 Russian ?

That little gun is amazing shooter, light compact !

I also build AR's professionally for resale through some gun shops, the AR that I sell the most of is in 7.62x39 .

I use Pac-Nor or Krieger 308" barrels 20" or 24" SS on Bushmaster receivers so my guns shoot 1/4" groups @ 100 yards.

So the 7.62x39 cartridge can shot well if the gun is built well, but in any junk AK style gun forget the accuracy !

  • Actually the Jamomatic reputation is current.

Guess you missed the memo from what is occuring in Afganistan and Iraq.

  • if i was going to war i would take the saiga over that ar15 jamamtic piece of shit and actually the saiga are surprisingly accurate people think there not because they are of an ak but an ak is accurate because the round they shoot change the round and they become a lot more accurate

  • The 308 is an accurate cartridge..yes..but the saiga platform is not as accurate as the ar platform.accuracy depends on range. The 223 is a very accurate round..but will drift at long ranges as it falls victim to wind. The AR30 is made by Armalite..and is a bolt action rifle. It is not semi auto. The ar30 will outshoot any semi auto rifle out there. Just google armalite ar30.

  • @armedtotheteeth1974 i will sounds good

  • It will take any mags made for the 308 saiga..high cap or otherwise. The ak conversion makes no difference. There are no models of the 308 saiga to watch out for. They are all the same...

  • I have a question. When you get one strait from the box can you get a high cap mag and use it w/o modification? And is there a version of the 308 Saiga that only takes low cap mags i should look out for as not to get?

  • If you need to haul something heavy...you use a truck not a smart car. if i need to shoot something far away, I use the ar 30, not a AK. Use the right tool for the job. I'm not comparing the saiga to an ar30 dumbass. Different tool. I'm Not comparing the ar15 and the saiga. WE ARE JUST SHOOTING THEM! What the fuck is wrong with you people?

  • @armedtotheteeth1974 LOl nice...ppl are so dumb

  • The saiga is stamped receiver..its an ak..pure and simple. Don't care what these people say. " its not an ak!" It is. It is now since we put a pistol grip on it and the correct trigger. You want robust...look at an armalite ar10, in 338 federal if you dare. Makes the ar 15 look like a toy.

  • Can't shoot that far with "accuracy " with either one of these weapons. The ar15 has better chance of hitting something that far..but has no punch. The 308 has the punch..just not the accuracy. You'd be doing good to hit a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood at 700 yards with the saiga 308. Id use my ar 30 in 300 winmag for that distance. No problem with that gun out to 1000 yards maybe 1200 with a calm day

  • @armedtotheteeth1974 what are you talking about??? the saiga is just a .308 version of a psl and those are accurate and effective to 700 yards. and i love how you are compairing a free float di gun in a caliber that is the same bullet size with more powder. of course it will be more accurate no shit. but to say a 308 saiga needs a target as big as 4x8 is ignorate and you just trying to justify pissing away 2000+ dollars.

  • @armedtotheteeth1974 .308 is not accurate? since when did this happen? Last I checked the .308 was one of the most accurate commonly used rounds out there... definately beating out a .223. and Ar 30? Who makes it... ive never heard of it. I don't think that youd be able to use a 300winmag cartridge in an ar configured rifle due to the length of the shell...

  • Can you shoot at 700/800 yards with accuracy?....Thanks.

  • Can you shoot at 700/800 yards with accuracy?..By the way, the receiver is milled or stamped?..I ask you that because I want a long range semi auto but robust. I was thinking in PSL54 but looks very fragile.. can you compare the Saiga 308 with the PSL54 or there are 2 different rifles?..Thanks.

  • No ..308 winchester (same as 7.62 nato) is different from the 7.62 x39. The nato round has a lot more weight and punch than the x39. The x39 round is 125 grain bullet at 2500 feet per second. The 308 can range up to 200 grain bullets and shoot them at a higher velocity and more accurately.

  • 308 is 7.62x39 right?

  • @goullume

NO .. 308 win is civilian equivalent if NATO 7.62x51

  • good trigger pull, very smooth

  • Whats the barrel length on the saiga?

  • good choice of song

  • I have a video of me shooting my new Saiga .308 on my profile. Pretty good guns. Didn't jam 1 time, and little recoul. Loud as well.

  • i own a saiga .223... lot a kick, but... you get sand, water, mud... its still gonna blast your emeny... AR15 - yes yell of a lot more accurate... but you gonna baby them, and wipe thier ases clean. im american but AK style AR's are the way to go!

  • You ever fire an AR10? They are some mean rifles.. Also a few companies make piston versions that are so reliable...

  • @lccapp ".223....lot a kick"....?

    WTF?

    Where?

  • How accurate is that saiga?

  • seems like a good package, even better with a comfortable stock!

but I thought you guys where allowed ak's... or are you only allowed to have a certain amount of parts from an ak?

  • We are allowed Aks, but no new ones can be imported into the US as I understand it. The Saiga is an Ak, but , only with the wrong stock, and trigger. We added a pistol grip on that one, new trigger, buttstock brought our US made parts count to 9 I think, and we are good. It is an Ak, that is new, not some 50 year old wore out piece of crap. It is pig head good at 100 yards. Wouldnt be my choice for hunting, but The owner loves it. I prefer my AR. If i need more power, Ill get Pops Ar10 338 Fed

  • Ok, Saigas are not really "Precision" instruments. You put one up against a Ar for accuracy, your screwed. AS for reliability, I have had zero problems with my Bushmaster, as long as the mag isnt oversstuffed, or bent. Other than that, the Ars keep on tickin

  • Comment removed

  • It seems to me to compare rather silly Saiga 308 and Bushmaster AR-15 потомучто at Bushmaster AR-15 there is an optical sight...

  • Well, this was the Saiga 308s first shots. We are not comparing the 2 rifles, we are simply shooting them. the Saiga ( and AK) rifles are known for the reliability, not accuracy. The AR is known for its accuracy, not its reliability.

Mounting a scope on a AK, can be a tricky and ugly task,

  • Well the Saiga 308 should be accurate considering 308s are the most accurate rifles on the market. I'm not sure about the Bushmaster version in particular but the AR-15 is known for being fully modable but otherwise a piece of crap.

Before you go off saying the Saiga is inaccurate cause its a cousin of the AK let me remind you of another cousin of the AK which is the SVD Dragunov.

  • Ok, the Saiga groups usually around 4-5 inches @ 100 yards. "Minute of pig head as we call it" That particular Ar groups under an inch. Mine is not all that accurate as there are many that do less than 1/2 inch. Ars are known for accuracy, Aks are known for reliability. That is just how it is, accept it.

  • The Saiga .308 is just a better gun, The new world AR-15(more particular M-16 and M4s but it applys to all) is not designed to kill. It is designed wound, because it costs the enemy more to give a soldier needed medical attention vs burying them. Another thing this gun is not a Kalashnikov It was produced by the same company and using the same pattern but this gun is still different in many ways. Even if it was a piece of crap gun it fires a 308 should be somewhat highly accurate.

  • ARs are great! Amazing ergos, accuracy, and incredibly fun to shoot/tweek.

AKs are (generally) cheaper, more reliable, and require a fair amount of customization before I'd consider it around the par of an AR-15 (in the end, AR's still got it licked though).

If you're looking for a rifle for competition- AR. One for reliability/stopping power go with the AK. Either way, no one wants be hit with a bullet from either.

Personally? My dream is a modified saiga in .308. They've disappeared!

  • ZOMG wtf the next person who calls this an AK im going to pistol whip. THIS GUN IS NOT AN AK! This gun is no more an AK then the SVD Dragunov. There's actually a mod called Saiganov to convert it to a Dragunov. The Saiga is a higher end and more accurate gun. It's built on the AK Platform just like the 50 cal beowulf is the AR-15 platform. All we can use guns for is hunting and the AR-15 is garbage for a hunting rifle. The Saiga 308 is going to drop game at a fairly accurate rate because its 308

  • I wouldnt say the Ar15 is Garbage for hunting. I have killed probably 5000 pounds worth of wild hogs with mine. Not to mention the Deer, rabbits, coyotes, etc etc. Just because it is a "wimpy" 223 doesnt mean anything. Put some handloaded 55 Grain Vmaxs in that sucker and watch craniums pop. It beats the pants off a AK for hunting.

  • Yes agreed,but i still call mine an ak,same action same factory.dbmccart

  • Btw check the links in Russian American Armory you will probably find a Saiga 308.

AR-15 is garbage for personal defense as well, just get a shotgun or pistol for that. I wouldn't dream of using an actual AK for competiton. Though i would put the Saiga 308 up against the AR-15 and say its a better rifle. The Saiganov is supposed to be more accurate then a Romac..

  • thanks for the advice man. Yeah, saiga is more like an AK-2.0. Saiga's just based off general kalashnikov's design (though imo, a modern improvement).

That's why I'd like to buy and convert one. In 308 I'd be able to use it for hunting, home defense and as an anti-zombie tool. Finding a distributer isn't hard; finding one not charging 750 or higher for an UNMODIFIED saiga is nigh impossible outside of a gunshow imo. We'll see how the hunt goes.

  • dude ak, saigas-reliabilty AR's-precision and the M4 round is designed to break apart inside a person causing internal bleeding

  • Yeah shows what you know, the bullet the M4 fires tumbles, it can go in your neck and come out your knee cap. The military doesn't use a bullet that fragments on impact as you should know thats the kind of bullet Kevlar specializes in stopping by dispursing the energy. The bullet they use is not designed to kill, but wound the enemy. Sources; I work on machines the build guns like this, and my best friend is serving in the military, he varified what i jsut said.

  • Let's face it once and for all, if your looking for a gun that wounds whatever you shoot then by all means AR-15, If your looking for something that will kill whatever you shoot at. The Saiga and the Ak are both great guns. No person with sense would use an AR-15 for personal defense. Especially considering the Saiga comes in a 12 gauge which is actually what the Saiga is famous for.

  • what is a saiga known for?

  • A Saiga is a AK 47 receiver, stuffed in a Standard "sporting" stock. It is done so it can be imported into the United States without scaring the antis. ( 922 Compliant) That gun since this Video has been modified to a AK 47 Configuration. The Parts are actually interchangeable. The Saiga is actually set up with some holes drill and preps made for this. It is a great gun. AK 47 Reliability with 308 Power.

  • That discription of the Saiga is so incorrect it makes me sick. The Saiga series is know for the Saiga 12 which is more the capable of putting any assault rifle to shame period.

  • I'd say the Saiga 12 would put any other defense shotgum to shame. An"Assault rifle will outrange a Saiga 12.

Now if your 21' or closer, yes the Saiga 12 is devastating.

  • Maximum range of a Saiga is 300 yards(with slug) with a rifled barrel which is pretty good for something thats over 70 caliber can fire up to 900 rounds per minute and has a low power charge. There's no shotgun on the market that can touch the Saiga 12s Rounds Per Minute.

  • Please tell me where I can get a rifled barrel.

  • Find a gunsmith and have them rifle your barrel.

  • I've got one. They are DEVASTATING. I wouldn't throw a slug past 60Yds though.

  • Tactical reload, let's see you reload any pump action, or semi auto hunting shotgun or even a SPAS 12 as quickly as a Saiga, it can't be done. You'd need a USAS or an AA 12 to even come close!

  • 4-5"? saiga can't be that bad.i don't really know, but my romanian groups half that and everyone tells me it's the worst ak made.

  • i just bought a Saiga .308 the other day from my buddy at Southbury Trading Post.....the gun is great out of the box, and when you add premium optics to it it becomes a great semi auto 308.....i say buy this gun.

  • Thnks, Im A Ar guy myself. THe saiga is my buddies. Im not realy impresse with the Ak series of Rifles. Yeah, its cheap and It goes bang most every time. So Does my Ar, And my AR is way way way more accurate. I buy american too Ill have to work up a video on my new AR10T in 338 Federal. HEHEHE

  • I'm think of getting a SAIGA, not sure what caliber yet, but i was wondering what you thought of yours? Oh and nice song!

  • when i bought mine it was a toss up between 7.62 39 and .308, i chose 7.62 39 because it was two years ago and the ammo was way cheaper. now they cost about the same with the exception that .308 is not as scarce so for that reason if i were going to buy one today it would be .308 hands down

  • Didn't they make an M4 .308?

  • it's called an ar-10

  • LOOKS LIKE A DRAGUNOV KINDA

  • That's because the Saiga and Dragunov are both made by Izhmash in Russia. I'm pretty sure they're both Ak family too

  • This is a bit weird, those are the two guns i own. Nice action on those saigas, but they're shit for accuracy over 100 yards. It's a fun weapon though. As for the bushmaster,... i don't think you can beat it with any other AR in it's class.

  • It's either the ammunition you're using or shooter skill, mine is accurate up to 300 yards. To say it's a 100 yard rifle is garbage.

  • It is probably the ammo, i got it at Dunhams sport shop, and i think it's over 20 years old. And the gun i bought must have gone through one of those "run over by a truck and still fires test". It clacks like it has an old fashion dumb-bell on the action.

  • I too can say that as a Saiga owner, with proper ammo this is a 300 yard rifle.

  • I am looking to purchase a saiga 223 what do you think

  • Why buy a .223 AK anything, what a waste.

  • Comment removed

  • bushmaster looks nice

  • I forgot how nice anything chambered in .308 sounds. Add that in a Saiga, I'm sold.

  • Show off.

  • I love guns.

  • i love 308's
