  • they have one at the Starbucks in Westwood, CA in the UCLA area. I thought why not try something special. It might have been the best coffee I've ever had. It's pretty fierce too. I recommend this coffee when you need to do 1 weeks work in one day.

  • Classic liberal American dilettante absurdity.

  • Awesome sauce!

  • BooYaa, that funny!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is amazing. And to think, I've been using a measuring cup, a thermometer, a watch, and a french press this whole time like a fool. Where's my wallet.

  • 11.000 i can get a prostitute to vacuum me and bring me my Coffey from starbuck for years

  • I just LOVE coffee, but can't afford the machine..... Buuhuuuu!!!

  • actually Starbucks now has select stores with the Clover brewing machine. Starbucks also only offers the Starbucks Reserve coffee beans line with the Clover Brewing machine. The Reserve are only sold by the half pound and are individual origin coffee beans and are only specialty beans with the highest quality. Some examples are the coveted Kona from Hawaii and Blue Mountain from Jamaica.

so yes Clover machines are in stores.

and yes the beans are "better than Starbucks average coffee bean"

  • @krncub2388 I work at a Starbucks Reserve store (though, sadly, not at one with a Clover). The beans are so-so. I think some very nice beans were over roasted and then sat around for too long. Just the complaints the guy on the vid had. If you can't find out when the coffee was roasted, you are not even touching high quality beans. Unfortunately.

  • only 11 thousand dollars you can buy a car from it.

    just lol.

I hope no one is so stupid to buy this shit.

  • looks so bad. it does nothing for you you have to do all the job.

  • Oh dear God! I guess humans aren't capable of adjusting their own brew cycles and temps. I guess I'm gonna have to get one of these overpriced pieces of crap. I'll stick with my press and save myself 11k.

  • ive changed my mind ill have a cup of tea :P

  • starbucks is the mcdonalds of coffee. case closed.

  • This is a great machine. I work for a Coffee Roaster. It really brings out the flavor of beans. Starbucks bought this company out because they did not want any other companys having a competitive advantange (flavor). They wont sell any of these to anyone. You probably wont see these in any of their stores either. This machine will be stored in a warehouse somewhere like the arc of the covenant in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

  • Ritual dumped these a long time ago.

  • 11 grand for a coffee maker it better better play my flute toss my salad and whistle Dixie. I have to agree Starbucks coffee is only 1 steep above no coffee unless good tea is around. I think they Starbucks roast their beans in a forest fire or a pig iron forge. What the hell is Starbucks going to due with $2,750,000 worth of coffee makers, I know charge an extra 5 bucks to have you coffee made with one

  • with all due respect but starbucks is an excuse to buy coffee just to look and feel elegant, overpriced products that can be easily be made or bought, seriously, so this is where the tuition of stanford students goes to, making an 11,000 dollar coffee machine, just like TheWeeillywanker posted with 11,000 dollars i could open up a coffee shop

  • Starbucks is the SATAN of coffee.

    DIE STARBUCKS DIE!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @jib1000 why? i need some facts

  • @HOPPERFZR Do you like coffee?

    Have you had Starbucks?

Its awful... the time between roasting and it getting to the stores for sale is between 6months and a year.

The coffee I buy is roasted within 1-2 days of me buying it by someone I know. If you really like coffee you should never buy Starbucks coffee, its about 3% better than Foldgers and more than twice as expensive.

  • @jib1000 the americanos are just ok ,im not a Starbucks fan either mostly because of the prices and the stupid names for ordering the coffee and i also hate the infestation of franchises

  • Does it work with Milo?

  • I'm not a huge coffee fan, but I did have the opportunity to drink a cup made from a Clover machine when I was in Seattle last year and l can confirm, even for an amateur like me, you can DEFINITELY tell the difference and it was well worth it. I hope Starbucks starts using this in all their stores as it makes the best cup of coffee!

  • These machines do make pretty good Coffee. Personally, though, I still think the Technivorm 'Moccamaster' makes some of the best coffee I've had. Clovers are really great commercial coffee machines... And I love 'em when I'm actually buying coffee from some other place, but if I'm at home, those things are the best... oh and they don't cost $11,000

  • Is there a list of the stores that have these? :D

  • For $11,000 I could open up a coffee shop!

  • @TheWeewillywanker Sounds like it... But the espresso machines used in commercial coffee shops typically cost even more.. Sometimes up to $20,000

  • @TheWeewillywanker no, no you couldnt.

  • combination of the clover with caribou coffee's obsidian blend would be out of this world!!

  • 11,000 that is a lot

  • I hate Starbucks, I want a clover

  • great video

  • fyi they have these at ritual coffee shops in SF. Its $4 for a cup of coffee, so you don't have to spend 11,000 to enjoy it. This is the only coffee where the caffeine truly made me stay up for a good 6-8 hours

  • Put another way, it makes amazing quality press/vac style coffee, direct to cup, no filters, no press pots to wash/break.

A La Marzocco FB80 is $14,000 + and that just an espresso machine, but not one you can compare to your $10 moka pot.

  • Comment removed

  • That guy is not stupid. He didn't compare it directly to a press, he compared the method indirectly to a press. Price is irrelevant. Starbucks is a shit place to go for a memorable coffee; however, they have an amazing business model and I will give credit to Starbucks for awakening a good majority of the world to a few sides of coffee, though nonetheless.. Starbucks is shit. No subtleness about it.

  • Good thing your opinion isn't fact. I thoroughly enjoy coffee from many high end establishments. I myself am part owner of a coffee company. Our regional coffees are better than Starbucks, but a couple of my favorite coffees come by way of 2 of Starbucks blends.

  • for 11,000$ that thing should wipe my arse ( also look you have to stir and squeegee it i think the y could have made it do it by itself)

  • Stanford engineers are awesome

  • die

  • I heard that this coffee machine even got an IP address!

  • the Standford engineers forgot to include an "also sucks your dick" module for eleven grand!?

  • Nothing special...for $11,000 I can take my family holiday to Europe

  • It's a coffee siphon that relies on a piston instead of a flame; or an upside down french press. Regardless, you should save your money and get a siphon, french press, or chemex to get equal if not better results for 1 cup at a time. It looks pretty, but an $11,000 tag compared to that of another method is ridiculous.

  • for 11,000 dollars i could pay a lot of my college debt.

  • absolutely genius! the way it brews, if it really does work as suggested, would make a perfect cup of coffee as it should taste, however, brewing one 8 oz. cup per action is not very good for commercial use. Also, an 11,000 dollar machine would have EXTENSIVE repair costs, should it break down or need maintenance.

  • i would hope that the engineers would offer free maintenance at such a cost. I could buy a car and drive myself to starbucks to choose whatever drink i wish with $11,000...for quite a while.

  • Hands down, it makes the best cup of coffee I've ever tasted. Also, you can choose how much you want to brew. It can do 16oz for sure, not sure how much higher.

  • Agreed -- hands down the best cup of coffee I've ever had. If you are a coffee lover, you will taste the difference immediately. The process has a way of removing any bitterness from a bean and leaving its full complexity. You will only want to drink it black; anything else takes away. It's a dream.

  • I'm going to head out and try it now at Clover's Fine Art Gallery and Café. And people bitching about how expensive it is should STFU, because you're probably only going to buy this if you're a barista at a café, and anybody who would buy this for home use is an idiot or incorporates their work into their life very well.

If you're a café owner this is going to be a great investment. If you're not it isn't even an investment, it's throwing money at lavish things that you obviously don't need.

  • I wouldn't call someone an "idiot" for buying this for home use; I think people can do what they want with their money.

But, yeah, this is for commercial use primarily. It's a long term investment in an awesome machine that hardcore coffee lovers will hopefully help you make a return on.

  • You're right about calling people idiots for buying this home use, and I apologize. This is a free country and I don't call someone an idiot for spending 11,000$ on a home theater system or a car, no matter how idiotic I think that is, but opinions do differ between different people.

And yes it makes an awesome cup of coffee. No sediments whatsoever and a much bolder taste. Still not that much of a coffee connoisseur to buy one for my kitchen

  • Ha! Yeah, I'm not THAT much of a coffee connoisseur either.

  • Anyone comparing this to an espresso machine - commercial or (most of you) domestic - pretty much has no idea what they're talking about. Why not compare it to a teapot?

And how much more did commercial espresso machines cost than drip machines? So by that reasoning the whole high street coffee market could never have gone over to espresso... right?

  • So this is what Starbucks is buying?

  • Starbucks bought the company that makes them, Coffee Equip. Inc. of Seattle, WA

  • Well the Stanford engineers should have taken an elective business class. The world of coffee makers is Shark infested waters. Nothing clear blue Boys Nothing at all. Thats why the Jura has you beat all the features easier to use and while still expensive 800 to 2500 depending on models its much less. I will take the Flavia Drink station any day. Way more fun than anything else on the market!

  • I dont mock your believes or anything, but basically what im saying is that.. Sure ppl loves your coffee, but im guessing that nobody likes ppl braggin about it and i dont really think that even half in here cares. No disrespect, im not saying you make crappy coffee, im sure that those who tasted it thinks its the best! dont get me wrong here ^^, But yeah VLogolution is kinda shitty

  • No, i dont like the vis he makes, i just accept any friends who adds me.. THATS what im saying.. And yeah, stop using caps

  • it would be nice if this was cheaper

  • You can buy a simple "french press" for $10 and do the pressing manually. It's AWESOME!

  • Well first of all, im 15.. Second of all i meant to write "Indertaker0" cuz EVERYBODY takes undertaker so.. thats why i chose that, and VLogolution added me to friends, and i gladly accept new firned who post vis and stuff.. An why you using caps lock all the time?

  • EVERYBODY STOP USING CAPS LOCK

  • THAT'S RIGHT, NO MORE CAPS LOCK!

  • Easy! Its just a freakin machine.. An who cares if ppl likes your coffee and thinks its the best or even want the recipe.. And idk if the guy posting this vid or your just calling the machine a shithead which would refere as a human, but idk your just dumb i guess.. Just CHILL OUT!

  • Nerdy douche nerd hey nany nany hey!

  • You guys should remind the fact that it makes your penis bigger. What, you thought 11000 was just for the coffee?

  • So this is what Stanford engineers work on? lol

  • how do you say Fu*kin ridiculous?

  • I can't dude, I'm still trying to process the fact that this thing is $11,000

  • What do you get when you have too much money and not enough common sense? Watch video to find out!

  • i knock it over and run out ! ha ha

  • For ELEVEN GRAND i expect someone ELSE to operate the squeegee and wisk...this machine is a waste of money and time for true coffee drinkers

  • wow.

  • It's custom built by a team of engineers. If this machine is any good it'll get cheaper and cheaper and cheaper.

  • You have to sit there with a whisk and a squeegee to make your coffee. You have to be kidding me!

Talk about over-engineering a solution to a non-existent problem. Stanford should be ashamed. No wonder so many Starbucks are going out of business.

  • i agree these asssclowns need to working on warp drive or the telepods....

  • you go and invent something useful instead of telling other people to do it.

some stuff is just an engineering exercise to show what is possible. and also a way to raise money or make PR.

this machine isnt trying to be the most comfortable machine to operate, this machine tries to make the most perfect coffee out there. You dont expect an F1 car to be comfortable and have cruise control and a stereo either.

  • hey asssclown...where i work, i tell the R and D guys what is needed, not the other way around...

my department provides the vision and THE most important aspect MONEY...

the rest they say is history !

  • where do you work? burger king?

  • What's wrong with a premade coffee machine, saving about 10,000 bucks? If I where handed one of each, I probably couldn't tell a difference.

  • had to laugh... Star$ reckon they will get better beans for it. If they are anything like their regular beans then anyone who actually likes coffee is going to be disappointed, again. Good demonstration on how NOT to make a drinkable coffee...

Save yourself $10k and buy a good automatic espresso machine.

  • Starbucks pretty much sucks

  • Big fucking deal

  • thank them non-existing gods for boild pot o' water and jars of teas.

  • I'll stick with my Cuisinart grinder/coffee maker. Best ever and I got it for less than $100.

  • 11 grand and it does not even cleans its surface. I have to use a sweegy like the homeless use to clean your windshield??

  • I like coffee but not THAT much

  • All I could think when I was watching this video was: "christ this guy is a fucking nerd." Nice hair and glasses, and ffs you're reviewing a glorified coffee pot. Real informative.

  • For that price I'll give up drinking coffee or that that should have been portrayed by the life styles of the rich and infamous.

  • $11.000????

With that money i'll drink coffee at the bar for the rest of my life

  • It doesn't even agitate the grounds for you? What a ridiculous invention. $11k wasted easily. Oh, and Starbucks will never be able to match the quality of high end roasters. Ever.

  • take that 11,000 dollars, and shove it up your ass. What a waste of life.

  • looks way to hard to work for 11,000 i mean wat temperature? come on wtf, it should know half these answers for me

  • $11,000? That's quite a bit o money. Maybe if it did something other than brewing coffee it would seem like a semi-fair price. But Penflick, a coffee machine that doesn't just make coffee, that's insane! Well it better cook dinner or be made out of solid gold before any sane person buys it; but then again Starbucks bought it.

  • i knew there was a reason i like tea.

  • i have a 30$ expresso maker that kicks ass

  • great m8, $11.000??? Hahahaha they think that ppl are idiot.

  • biggest waste of money!

  • 11,000 that lot of money and "i want coffee".

  • Think of how many starving kids in China the asshole who buys this piece of shit could help.

It takes about a minute for 1 cup of coffee that you have to wisk?

Yeah...totally worth it instead of the $20 coffee maker at walmart...

  • Cloverfield was awesome.

  • no wonder terrorists want to bomb us. we have the clover coffee machine...

    yep. that's why.

  • $11,000...For that slab of iron? Hahaha! This guy can't be making this shit up can he?

  • "It sound's expensive"...No shit. xD

  • I hate coffee.

  • it better make some damn good coffee!

  • it does.

  • Seems like it'd be good for business ect.

  • by my calculations it would take over 7000 cups of coffee to pay for itself...jeez

  • thats an expensive cup of coffee!

  • 11000 dollars and you still need to stir it by hand to make it

  • "its $11,000, which may SEEM expensive..."

    LMAO

  • x-treme coffe making, ha

  • orly?
