  • Hot or cold water?

  • Nice granny gear as you ride off mate

  • very useful... thanx.....

  • I purchased 2 silverfox moutain bike's from argos and in the first few days kept getting very slow punctures that slow that could not find puncture, replaced inner tube's and happened again so stripped down wheel for inspection and noticed that the inside rim had some rough edges were it had not been machined very well so i sanded them smooth with sanding paper and now it seems ok.....

  • Very nice, straight forward instructional video.

  • Kids got swag with that helmet.

  • wish me luck, just about to try to repair my tyre!

  • Both my tyres got punctured :(

I have my puncture repair kit to sort it out, it's one of those damn parks that had thorns in real hard-to-see places, when there's usually nothing there.

  • great video, just repaired my back tyre :))) cheers!

  • try to find the puncture by holding the inner tyre up to your ear and listening for a hiss before using the bowl of water method. The inner tyre at the point of the puncture has to be completely dry for the rubber solution to take, so if you can find the puncture without getting the inner tyre wet you'll save yourself some time

  • cheers alot just fixed mine :D

  • You forgot to mention how to check inside the tyre for sharp objecys - silly me used my finger .... ouch!!!! Band aid anyone?

  • oh god the front wheel? Really? It's almost never the front wheel that gets a puncture.

  • @ankofon oh god ur so unequivocally rite this vid so ztupid!!

  • Why would you need a spare inner tube to fix a inner tube

  • If the hole is fairly big and has left a nasty cut in the tyre itself, as well as fixing the innertube, could I also patch the inside of the tyre itself? My reasoning is, at the the very least, it will stop water getting inside the tyre. The piece of glass that punctured my front tyre/innertbube left a cross like gash on the tyre, I've successfully fixed the innertube but am worried about the tyre. It's a new bike/tyres so I wouldn't want to have to replace the tyre yet. Thanks for any advice.

  • I like that bike pump! :)

  • If the valve is broken, is all hope lost? I feel like giving up already :(

  • Why do you need a spare tube you you just patch the punctured one?

  • @FSVR54 yeh wht is the point

  • @FSVR54

yeh wht is the point to have a spare tube is you have a repair kit

  • my god how well done was this video? kudos!!

  • What about the chalk? I always add a bit of chalk dust to help prevent the innertube sticking to the tyre.

  • 1:13 NICE SHOES!

  • Very comlexlicatedcated I got horribly confused and fixed my shoe instead

  • Anyone here for SIDE

  • lol so basic

  • Great video, and easy to understand. Just the refresher course I needed. How about just removing the part of the tube that has the puncture?, assuming you can locate a nail or such in the tire.

    What fun.

    Ray

  • love bikes

  • @84WAKEUP only crazy people like bikes

  • @benzomelon then i'm a crazy people =D

  • I tried fixing my puncture on the rear wheel of my mountain bike and done exactly the same as what is one in this video (except I took the foil and transparent cover off of the patch) but the patch dosen't seem to hold properly and lets air escape, Am I doing something wrong

  • @jasonkneil You mightn't have sanded down the area near the puncture or you might have got your fingers on the sticky part of the patch and therefore it might have lost some of its grip.

  • I want to see how to repair a bike tire with car patches... =)

  • thank u so much, i thought it would be so complicated but this video made it quick and easy to follow

  • thanx a lot this video helped me

  • How about a rear puncture?

  • Very good, let the glue to dry 3-4 minutes and after apply the patch, and remove the transparent foil on the patch!

  • The tube must be dry prior to the application of glue. Failure to do so will leave you with that flat feeling again and again adnausum infanitum

  • where can i buy all theses materials for cheap( any store , not online ) .... i dont even know -.- help! i beginer at theses thing... and my inner tube explode ( my wheel tire is flat )

  • ok theres that and theres buying the slime for the tire. its a substance u can buy at any bike or any store that sells tools for cars its green and its way easyer and cheaper than buying the inertube all u have to do is buy it apply it and ull never ever get a flat again garanteed ill put up a vid showing it if u message me and ill walk u through it step by step in the video.

  • it works great!!!!!!!!!

  • i have a cut in the inside of my bike wheel should i do the samething in this video and i got a mountain bike

  • thats very informative. i amy have to replace my whole tyre cos it's been sittin in the garage for a year lol

  • kol thx

  • this video will be very useful for the person who uses the bicycle.. it is used in the emergency time when there is no puncture shop near by.. but we have keep those tools along with us all the times... but its very interesting video..

  • Eventually obama and his administration wants us all riding bicycles and riding transit. Cause our streets can't expand much more LOL, It sucks but I know its coming! Probably for the whole world. Our convienent lives our coming to a slow roll. Unless technolgy improves which I hope it does.

  • Yay for how-to videos!

  • Comment removed

  • Always ensure an adjustable wrench is tightened and well seated before applying force to it, the method shown could round the nuts if the wheel was fastened correctly. Ride hard, don't round nuts!

  • lol what sort of douch wears a helmet

  • Someone who doesn't want to die in a crash?

  • one that likes their brain in their skull.

  • can someone come fix my tire for me please? lol

  • He didn't use the spare inner tube?

  • thanks for this

  • Thanks!

  • All these videos rely on a bowl, or even a bucket at times, of water.

You'll never be able to fix a tyre on the road like this.

Most of the time, that is if a hole is big enough to make your tyre flat, there is a better way: pump some air into your tyre, like usual and then pull the whole tyre through your hands - next to your ear! You'll chase the hole down that way much more easily.

And you maybe should check the part of the tyre for objects that is on the *ground* and not on the top.

  • for people who dont have tyre leavers, use a spoon. the flat end of one, not the curved bit.

  • It's not ideal, tyre levers only a couple quid. It's worth the investment .

  • thanks for this. I was going to get a shop to do it, there is one just over the wall, literally, but I want to do it myself.

  • thxs for dat video i wouldnt be able to go on my bike other wise

  • word wat kan u uze if u dont hav tire leverz

  • do you have to use tire leavers to open the tire. If not what else can you use.

  • two plastic knifes would work, be carefull not to damage the inner tube or tyre lining though.

  • Nah tire levers make it easier i pretty much use my hand and the back of a pen(the dull side) so i wont puncture a new hole into the innertube.

  • a Fork

    ...

  • I found a nearby shop.

  • Hey guys, I wanna know if there are shops out that repair the bike puncture. Because, I don't have the tools that are required to disassemble the tire ,air pump and stuff like that. I would really appreciate if somebody can help me. Thanks.

  • ya most bike shops do them but you have to ask.

  • We have to repair the puncture? Are there any bike shops for this? Because, to repair a bike you need have various tool which I don't have. Any comments? Thanks

  • hmmm he didnt tell us wot to do if it was the valve tht was leaking =/

  • Just replace it is all you can really do

  • if the valve is leaking then there's no point patching the tube. broken valves can't be fixed, they're too delicate a mechanism. best thing to do is just get a new tube. they're usually pretty cheap.

  • you put the cap on fast

  • What happens if the world's car, bus, truck motoerbike.etc were replaced by bicycles.

    How you people feel?

Im thinking its nice cos i always wanted to ride to school but my dad restricsts me :P

  • Thanks a lot. Learnt when I was a kid, but forgot.

  • wat kind og glue do u need someone plz reply

  • someone one plz tell me wat kind of glue u need

  • It's called rubber cement, when you buy a puncture kit you get a tube of it.

  • im know...its too easy..but....thanks men....

  • can you do this for dirtbikeS?

  • Gotta love bikes, they're so easy to repair. Unlike cars or trucks lol.

  • ive never understood what the chalk is for>? in one of those puncture repair kits. can some one tell me clearly

  • u grate it (usually a bit on the back of the packet), then sprinkle it over the patch. this stops any excess glue sticking to the inside of the tyre and possibly tearing of the patch.

    hope this helps

  • I presume its just because it is white.

  • Some tyres is so tight that a plastic tyre lever wil knock of. I think 28" use to bee tighter than 26"

  • all well and good repairing a front wheel - what about a rear wheel with gears attached - how do you even get the wheel off without having to detach the gear and brake cables?

  • You just undo the brakes and wobble it off, comes off quite easily, you don't need to take off any of the gears or anything. Just undo the wheel and try it and see what I mean.

  • i just buy a new bike when i get a flat-

  • There is a silicon skin which glue will have a hard time sticking to, so you need to sand off and apply a -thin- layer of glue on the area the patch with contact. Wait till the glaze on the glue is gone (about 10-20 min) before applying the patch.

  • Tubes have a silicon skin that glue will not stick well to, so buff and apply a thin layer of glue to the area the patch will come into contact with the tube.

  • can you just use duct tape over the whole?

  • Hi aannkk

Of course you could use duct taoe, but the patch is actually made of a hard, yet flexible rubber which carries similar characteristics of a normal bike tyre and would be much tougher and less prone to getting another hole than the tape. The duct tape is strong and very sticky but you could puncture a hole through it quite easily, you cant with a patch.

  • @aannkk no .

  • @aannkk yes i use duct tape just use a liter and kind of melt the tape becos it dosint sick on good and it wont work

  • At 1:38, do we put the rubber solution only on the hole or on all of the surface that will be in contact with the patch?

  • PUt the solution on all of the surface that will come in contact with the patch.

  • sounds good, but how long do you normally have to wait for the repair kit to dry?

  • great help i always diveded also the patch with the nylon sqare (quite annoying lol); picture at 2:00 when the tyre wall is on do it again on the whole rim -> push the outer wall towards you (like at 2.00) on the whole rim couse the tube can be still between the rim and the tyre => big booom when the tube will be pumped

  • Much better than the other tutorials I watched.

  • Greeeeeaaaaat!

  • AWSOME!
