  • Someone needs to find an answer for the cause of FM. Fibromyaglia is a NEUROLOGICAL illness. It is NOT a type of arthritis nor should a rhuematologist treat this condition. Chemicals in the brain are messed up which causes central sensitization. Also immune abnormalities are present and sleep is disturbed. That is about all we know which is a damn shame. Write a letter to the CDC saying FM should not be categorized under arthritis, because that is how it is right now. We need CHANGE! thumbs up

  • @jumb0mumb0 absolutely . Fibromyalgia isn't arthritis .I would highly recommend to visit my website and to read my article on this subject. The theory that we are proposing clinically proven as a right one. It is manageable condition, and more have to do with hormonal changes, emotional and physical traumas that secondary awaking graduate muscle tension accumulation, leading to ATP energy crisis, secondary triggering sleep disorders, clinical depression etc.

    Best wishes.

  • ..I need every bit of this work. I know it's bad..but I couldn't feel any of that gentle work at this point...if it isn't elbow work...It doesn't open the energy, don't feel anything. But as I told you, I expect to pay a price in pain and swelling usually; unfortunately. Wish I could ship you my scapula..lol Wonderful work and videos..thank you xo!

  • @J20M07 maybe there is some cases of psychosomatic disorders, that matching fibromyalgia symptoms, but in most cases it is real painful syndrome with real objectives for the pain production, accompanied with clinical depression etc. actually 25 years ago when patient did complain and describe fibromyalgia symptoms , and because blood tests and radiological examinations didn't support clinical symptoms, patients where referred to psychiatric care and never could come back to normal life.

  • @J20M07 There is explanation why women is most dominating in this cases. you said:"statistics of those who suffer with this are mostly women, of middle-class backgrounds" I'm kind of questioning this statistic in regards of middle class background. Environment of location where one living, including but not limited to purity of water etc. can play some role.

  • @J20M07 In the bottom of screen is my website. Please visit it and click on the articles, one of each providing details in regards of fibromyalgia. If you will have any questions after reading it please feel free to post it.

  • As a Massage Therapist of 17 yrs. I have seen many fibro clients. All in different stages and pain levels. That makes a difference. If the area is supersensitive, you cannot actually massage, even lightly else aggravation will make it worse. For LMP's, go in lightly and do TriggerPoint and the pain Will let up and back off. Keep doing that & cover the whole area. Yes, it is more painful to do . Surprise! When you are done, the pain will be mostly gone. Alan

  • I have been doing massage with fibro patients for several years. My wife in particular was the most severe case as ever I have seen. Sheets were painful, no gliding or any kind of massage could be done. She was completely numb all over and yet super sensitive at the same time. If any therapists will listen, there is only ONE thing that can be done and that is TriggerPoint on all the sensitive nodes. Over 150 and that takes time. Don't even think you can massage or rub a Fibro client. Alan

  • i seen people inhale cannabis vapor because only that helped.

  • I am an expert on FMS, and am fully recovered. Medical Massage is very helpful in managing FMS, but it is not curative. I highly recommend medical massage because it is so important to keep the blood circulation and flexibility in the muscles. Restorative yoga is helpful in this regard as well. Good luck, and best wishes.

  • Got fibro? Do yourself a favor and check your medical records to see if you'd taken Cipro, Levaquin, Avelox or any other quinolone antibiotics in the weeks or months prior to your symptoms arising. Doctors give out these terribly poisonous drugs like they're candy, and they are known to cause DELAYED REACTIONS that mimic fibro symptoms nearly perfectly. Because of this delay in reaction time, many people never make the connection between the drugs and their new mysterious health problems.

  • Yes, I understand this. Do look at my video, however. All we can do to share info is good for the FMS patients. Thank you for your replies. Best wishes. Valerie

  • Fair enough. Albert Einstein said "knowledge only comes from experience" and it my experience, not studies, that I speak from.

  • @ValerieLumley any experience is the results of experiment. Or scientific experiment or evidence base therapy experiment. Your own experience means a lot but not enough to be qualified as evidence-based therapy.maybe one day?but to say"Massage on the neck can make it worse"and " be very careful about what you learn from these videos." Is wrong and not responsible.many fibromyalgia patients got relief due to implementation of this protocol.wish you to stay healthy.

    Boris

  • @ValerieLumley It's the chiropractors that you want to avoid not massage therapists.

  • The nerves and muscles in the neck are aggravated in FMS and can be further irritated with message to the neck. A fibromyalgic is someone with FMS.

  • I hate to say this, but:” you don't know what you are talking about.” I have to say this because people who suffer from fibromyalgia as well as, possibly, some therapists could get confused by this nonsense. Massage protocols that I propose were developed through extensive research utilizing control group to test this techniques against placebo. ... to be continued ...

  • Examination for diagnosis of participants for this study included histological studies that concluded chronic inflammation of muscles and connective tissue. This conclusion allowed to scientists to develop step by step protocol that would lead to results of fibromyalgia management. Most importantly during 30 years of clinical outcomes this protocol proved to be working. On my website you can find extensive article on the subject.

  • I invite everyone to view video link below where I am explaining details. If you don't have pains all over the body any more I really happy for you and pray that this will continue, but please do not post anymore statements like you did. I understand that you need to promote your book. But this is a wrong way to do this. Wrong, because at any study one has to apply medical statistics in order to see if methodology works and not the conclusions that you made in your case.

  • @ValerieLumley As a FMS sufferer I have to say that you are wrong. Massage is the only thing that really helps FMS.

  • @ValerieLumley Medical /Therapeutic massage is the ONLY thing that relieves Fybro pain for me! I think you do not know about that which you speak on.

  • I am a recovered fibromyalgic who had to leave the medical profession to discover the cause and cure of this condition, and am completely recovered. Drugs are not necessary. Message on the neck can make it worse. Do not give up from failed hope. Keep going, and be very careful about what you learn from these videos.

Valerie Lumley, Recovered Fibromyalgic and author of

"Curing Chronic Fibromyalgia - Choosing What Works"

  • @ValerieLumley can you please explain why massage on neck can make worse?

also I will appreciate if you will share your discovery what's causing fibromyalgia developments?please do not offer to buy your book just in a few words.also would appreciate if you will explain meaning of word"fibromyalgic"

I mean you used :"recovered fibromyalgic".is fibromyalgiain your opinion is a addiction?thanks.

  • There is no cure for fibromyalgia what the hell are you going on about you make me sick, making clams that are not true and do not work....... you would be a multi millionaire if you had the cure just so you can plug and sell your book giving people false hope

  • @dazer123 there are cures for FMS hun, but not one technique will work. NLP to address the neurological causes, massage accupressure, enzymes, specific herbs AND enzymes, in addition to a stict diet reducing acid levels in your blood and bodies toxicity will help with the physical symptoms. Most people will use pharmasuticals and suffer on. Therefor seeming like there is not cure. I'm sorry you feel so hopeless .

  • This video is going to help me a lot,I know somebody very important to me who suffers from fibromyalgia.......Also if I am not being too nosy where did you go for your Massage Therapist schooling?.......If that is being too nosy please excuse me,I just obtained my massage therapist license a few days ago and am very interested on finding good places to extend my education in the field.

ASLO i read some peopel are downloading, can I do that and is it fro free instead of buying them and from where can I download?

  • Dear hartocute,

The step by step protocol presented on the DVD#3 has been proven to be effective in management of fibromyalgia. Having said this it depends a lot on how well the person will learn and adapt to the material. The protocols must be performed every other day consistently.

  • and around outside of my ankle bone and on my toes. I'm also having pain in my knee of the other lage because I can't walk correctly. I would appreciate any help....God Bless you....

  • i did the exact same thing to my ankle about 6 months ago. your best allies will be heat, time, and controlled stretches. However, ankle sprains like that usualy rip muscle pretty badly, so it will be months, or possibly years before it comes bac kto 100%, if it ever does. mine still occasionally gives out on me w/o warning. Soak it in hot water when it hurts, stretch it until you feel a comfortable (IE, not extreme) burn, and just keep using it to strengthen he muscles.

  • younger I would have like to go into it. here is my problem I strained my ankle REAL bad a month ago and now that I no longer have the imobilizing boot on I have alot of pain and I can't walk properly. I would love to buy your DVD #6 but since I am a carpenter and haven't been able to work for the last month and a half because of my injury I can't afford it. Is there any massage tech. you can share with me that I can proform on myself? the pain is on the achilles tendon, bottom of my foot and

  • Boris

I have suffered from a dislocated patella injury in football. I have watched many of your sports injury related videos and many of your other videos and I would just like to say thank you. Your sports injury videos and rehabilitation advice has helped me a lot and I think you are a very good role model to people.

    Thank you

  • Dear cescronaldo17 .

Thank you very much for so nice comment. most important that you have used word"rehabilitation". now days massive phenomena of very damaging reinjuries like total ligaments, muscles, tendons tears is a results of temporary inhibition of pain and not full rehabilitation. I produced self treatment DVDs in order to help people to avoid surgery;s and to be able to leave normal active life. if you received less than 15 comprehensive treatments please continue.

    Best wishes

  • Your voice makes me fall asleep Boris :) Thanks for these videos.

  • my mum has this and shes always tired and ill she has to sleep a lot so i dont get to see her much il try this for here to see if it helps, the docters said they cant treat it apparently its just gonna burn itself out.

  • DearShadows4seen.

please visit my Website and read my article on the subject. difficult to believe that fibromayalgia syndrome possibly can: " burn itself out".Best wishes to you and your mother.

    Boris

  • Fibromayalgia doesn't just 'go away' I suggest you get her to change immediatly to an informed doctor who has dealt with suffers like us before. I have this syndrome. Constant self care, suppliments, exercise and a disciplined diet are the only ways to keep it from taking over and the pain becoming unbearable.

  • Dear blackspiralD, You are absolutely right in your advise about supplements, exercise, etc. However, Fibromayalgia is a slowly developing Fibromyositis, which is a chronic inflammation within muscles, tendons and other connective tissue. If Fibromyositis will develop to significant degree with no massage utilization, it would be very difficult to manage this syndrome. For details please read my article on my website.

    Best Wishes,

    Boris

  • Absolutely, I agree. I see a very good physiotherapist when I have flare ups. As a Sickness beneficiary I cannot afford to drive to see her much so I only see her when the pain has become intrusive and made it unable for me to do my exercises. Regular exercise is also a very important factor. especially when it comes to helping us flush toxins and old blood through our system which we are unable to do naturally anymore due to our condition. Massage would be another way to help the blood flow.

  • Caro Boris, seu trabalho é excelente, PARABÉNS !!!

  • my mom has this i think i will try this on her thank you

  • Hi Boris,Where in L.A. are you? Are you seeing new people!I had a massage monday and feel terrible,so terrible that I'm going in for an MRI.I am a healthy 47 yr.old gal who all of a sudden is walking funny and whose groin area and back always are in pain within the last few weeks.I work out and eat pretty well.I am also a hairstylist so my back is very important. Can Sciatica give me this much pain or am I in the beginning stages of menopause? what do you think? Thanks Boris,Lisa

  • Dear Lisa.

I'm really sorry to hear about your suffering.

as you described groin area and back pain is not typical for Sciatica symptoms but could be femoral nerve neuralgia and/or muscular syndromes,and/or hip disorders ets.after MRI and other examinations your Dr. will be able to collaborate symptoms with test results. I'm seeing people twice a week in Tarzana CA, and twice a week in Beverly Hills.

    I hope you'll get well fast.Boris

  • Lisa..I same symptoms as you 10 yrs ago. After consults with 4 surgeons, my doctor sent me to a 5th one who asked if I'd fallen really hard about 4 years previously. I answered yes. He told me I had fractured my pelvis thru the acetabullum (hip socket), my body tried to heal itself by growing scar tissue in the socket but overgrew, then ground off the head of my femur. Ended up with hip replacement at age 46.

  • Thanks Boris!I will keep you posted in case anyone comes to you with similer symtoms.I can't wait until I feel better again.I am not used to feeling like this.Best,Lisa from S.F.

  • Good one Boris! I had to embed into my myofascial webpage.

  • Dear Anwar.

It is very rewarding to receive comment like yours and especially on a fibromyalgia clip.fibromyalgia is devastating disorder that crippling many.fibromyalgia is not idiopathic condition but fibromyositis which is chronic inflammation of muscles, tendons ets.histology of chronicly inflamed tissue not supporting the inflammation.the matter-of-fact that appropriate special protocol of massage therapy is a most powerful methodology in management of fibromyalgia.

    Best wishes.

  • you are a massage genious...i watch you videos daily. thank you!

  • Dear jmdigitalarts. I hope I will be able to leave up to content of your comment . massage therapy is a form of healing art therefore for me is very important to know that people receiving benefits from my work. there is many evidence that by watching only massage performances one can get some benefits. additionally for me is very important to educate the general public on massage therapy healing power. youtube giving me great opportunity on this and more. Best wishes Boris

  • Boris,

I am practicing massage therapy for already 15 years now and have been watching your videos since they were downloaded. It's not that I don't like them. I just have this nagging question: why would you teach such dated techniques: 50-60 years old? Why not learning something new? Something like new sports massage for sports related injuries or skeleton muscular techniques. I'm learning something new my entire career and this gives me a feeling of confidence and a piece of mind.

  • Dear agnesbirlow.

"NEW" doesn't mean better. the question how much you believe in methodology that you are applying. I mean how certain you are about your clinical work. according to comment that few months ago you posted at my youtube "Medical Massage Large man back" clip, this approach is new for you. I would recommend to study.

    Best wishes.

    Boris.

  • Boris,

You've avoided a direct answer. Let me reiterate. Why use 60 years old techniques rather than learn something new?

  • Dear agnesbirlow During my career I also did study new protocols. for example: after being in practice 10 years, 25 years ago I learned lymphatic drainage techniques for detoxification and since successfully utilizing. Since and to this day I never lost interest to read research data papers. Please keep in mind that during 4 years of grad. school almost daily I was study something new. In this case "60 years old" is a clinical prove that methodology safe and effective.

  • I don't know what did you meant saying "new sports massage for sports related injuries" . but in cases of sports related injuries we are utilizing orthopedic massage protocols.

there is no different if somebody will sprain- strain lower/ upper back, neck, shoulder, knee, wrist and other parts, at the time of sports activities,or at work place or at home or just missed stepping at streets, this is still will be injury that should be treated by specially designed orthopedic massage.

  • I'm practicing methodology that was developed true research which means this protocols where tested against placebo and was developed to be safe and effective. by learn new techniques is not enough to achieve"feeling of confidence and a piece of mind" but if this methodology works. massage therapy contain different discipline and expertise. Sports massage helps prevent sports related injuries as well to perform better but as you understand now is not to treat sports related injurys.

  • my clinical experience proved that this methodology is safe and very effective. Why I shouldn't to continue practicing this protocols? should I start study" something new" that do not have enough of clinical prove on safety and effectiveness or even wasn't developed through research. Only " NEW"Will not change my way of treatment. Therapy is about safe and sustained results and not about to be new or old . this is the reason why I am continue to practice this protocols.

    Best.

  • Activator is not electrical. It's a handheld device that sharply jars the bone "back into place." This is terrible for myofascial pain because the muscle is already shortened and you're forcing the muscle to rip.

  • Dear kelim92. Thank you for Activator Act description. any sharp and?or forcible act will cause FM patients suffering, aggravation of symptoms ets. in my opinion you perfectly explained why Activator shouldn't be applied in cases of FM. Best wishes

    Boris

  • Thank you :)

  • I'm glad I started this thread. Your answers helped me clarify the confusion regarding CEU choices. Speaking of confusion, can you explain the massage on buttocks from the lower back disorder fragment? I've always avoided providing such treatment. Is this ethical, legal?

  • Dear agnesbirlow. I am happy that somehow could contribute. would like to ask you to place this comment- question on my youtube" lower back disorders" clip. By referring to the clip will be much easier to answer precisely. I promise to answer your question in details. thanks.

  • leave the man alone.

  • I just finally found a physical therapist in France who could give me this TYPE of massage. Watch his fingers on the neck. I was hospitalized for three months and am way better now.

  • Dear slobomotion.

I am very happy to hear that you improved. no doubt that FM symptoms can be devastating. if names of French therapist JanPier Vacknin than I know him very well.JanPier is a very good. after analyzing your expression"Watch his fingers on the neck." I would highly recommend constantly to view this clip or even to purchase my DVD#3. thank you for comment, that can inspire FM patience to fight and win bottle against FM. Best wishes.

    Boris.

  • No, he is a Mr. Camus, but he seemed to know exactly what to do and the massage was very similar. Just four years ago, I couldn't find a health professional in France who even know what FM is!

  • Dear slobomotion.

European medical massage for last 60 years is a recognize conventional medicine procedure. we all study and utilizing the same step by step hands on protocols as was developed through research. therefore very possible that Mr.Camus provided to you the same therapy. but again is most important that you get improved. honestly I am very happy for you. send my congratulations to Mr.Camus God bless you.

    Boris

  • Thank you, Boris. I told some other patients how good Mr. Camus was and he got more work. I thanked him personally and paid him immediately. Such good care deserves praise and prompt payment! Carry on!

  • Having FMS, I tried the activator. It caused the *worst* pain I have ever felt. Hours later after the windup hit, I was on the kitchen floor at a level 9 being held up by my significant other. I reluctantly did 6 more treatments. Terrible. I discovered trigger point therapy after that. *The best* for Myofascial pain. If you have Fibromyalgia, be **very** wary of the activator. A lot of severe FMSers have Myofascial Pain. Chiro *doesn't* help that, nor does it help nerve pain.

  • Dear kelim92

Will not argue that FM start from local Myofascial pain but with time the condition become chronic inflammatory all over the body . in such a case utilization of only trigger point therapy will not make significant difference. to the further extend I would like to invite you to read my article. often FM patience suffering from subluxation of spinal joints in which case gentle chiropractic adjustments could help as well in cases of neuralgia that resulting by subluxation.

  • fibromyositis is a chronic inflammatory conditions of muscles and connective tissues. I am not familiar with activator but if this electrical shocking stimulation this kind of procedure shouldn't be applied on FM patience. the matter of fact that to the maximum of my knowledge and clinical experience in cases of full body fibromyositis only massage can help to manage condition. massage is a : muscle and connective tissue mobilization, trigger point therapy PIR and more Best wishes

    Boris

  • In response to SUKMEET, sorry you had a bad experience to the Activator because Fibromyalgia does not response much to deep pressure and can be over worked easily. Don't give the Chiropractors bad name, just do some research.I have worked for a chiropractor for 6 years and that's were all I learned to become a good MT. Just like any Doctors or specialist out there..you got good ones and bad ones. But there's some people and conditions that benefits from the Activator.

  • I think I have fibromyalgia, its very wierd i get pains on both sides of my body, like a mirror and on the back of my head like that girl. and i want a massage that would feel so good.

  • I have had fibromyalgia clients who can take a lot more pressure than one would expect. This style of massage as proved very helpful to them.

  • I love you Boris !!! You ROCK !!!!!!!!!

  • i have found watching these video very relaxing and calming thanks for that

  • I have Fibromyalgia,PVD, Other medical condtions related to FM, I wanted to share with people to be very AWARE of chiapractors that use an Activator Probe I recently experienced this So-call Activator ended up in pain added to what I experience now and fatigue he used a probe to different parts of my body my Christmas Vacation in New Mexico is ruined, When I return to my home in Nevada I would be grateful for any suggestions on some form of relief.

  • Dear sukmeet.

Fibromyalgia is not idiopathic but a clear regarding cause of multiple symptoms condition.I am assuming that you reacted on Activator Probe because your muscles wasn't prepared to so intensive stimulation. you welcome to visit my website and to read my article. when you will understand this condition, will be much easier for you to choose the treatment. I hope that you already feel a bit better. Best wishes.Boris

  • You may want to check out Structural Energetic Therapy. After your first treatment, you may feel worse...but then you will feel much better. Proper nutrition is also important. There is help!

  • Sukmeet, I am a LMT in LV, Nevada who has studied with Boris Prilutsky and am very familiar and utilize his techniques. I have also experienced the pain of the Activator as I, too, have Fibromyalgia as well as arthritis. Where in Nevada are you? Perhaps I can be of assistance.

  • I reside in Dayton, nevada. Many of my sympthoms are all chronic and yet can anyone help me!

  • There is a specific protocol, developed by Boris Prilutsky, based on scientific studies in Russia and the former Soviet Union. They work! Much of this is explained in his new book as well as his DVD #3, which contains a protocol for massage and exercise. If you are not far from Las Vegas I can be of help to you, but if you are too far to get here, you might want to consider getting the book

  • I have Fibromyalgia and there is no possible way I could stand to be touched like that especially my shoulders

  • As someone who has Fibromyalgia lem, massage does help.

But then again I am watching the video on Youtube and guess what, I didn't pay anything.

In other words, lem check facts before replying again.

  • for lemz1977 Reliable independent studies are something very expensive and paid for by pharmaceutical companies or by universities, which are financed by pharmaceutical companies. It is very difficult to find "reliable medical study" which is not related to some product that can be sold by a company.

  • I know people with Fibromyalgia whose quality of life has significantly improved by receiving these treatments on a regular basis

  • hey whatever helps, even for a while,to get these muscles to relax,is worth it.

  • Price? What price?

  • The best way to discribe this massage technique and its claimed benefits is Hocus Pocus. Fibromyalgia patients will NOT benefit from this technique. There is NO medical proof and it is sad that someone can claim that this is Medical when no reputable independent studies have ever been done relating to this very debilitating disease.

  • Do you realize that thousands fibromaylgia patients who benefits from massage therapy, can read your hateful comment and will degradate because they will believe that you are medical professional as you claim to be. By the way my clients who suffering from fibromaylgia getting a lot of improvements.

  • Actually lemz1977, you are mistaken there are numerous studies which have shown massage to be quite beneficial for FM. The following from the Touch Research Institute, is but one.

  • METHOD: To determine the effects of massage therapy versus relaxation therapy on sleep, substance P and pain in fibromyalgia patients, twenty four adult fibromyalgia patients were randomly assigned to a massage therapy or relaxation therapy group. They received 30-minute treatments twice a week for five weeks.

  • RESULTS: Both groups showed a decrease in anxiety and depressed mood immediately after the first and last therapy sessions. However, across the course of the study only the massage therapy group reported an increase in the number of sleep hours and a decrease in their sleep movements. In addition, substance P levels decreased and the patients' physicians assigned lower disease and pain ratings and rated fewer tenderpoints in the massage therapy group.

  • I am having a great success in helping people by using similar techniques.

  • Your technique is impressive, but my doctor said that fibromyalgia is not a curable disorder. Can what you do really help?

  • Fibromyalgia is not curable, but it's manageable. Its symptoms start developing on the level of muscles and massage therapy is the most effective in muscle treatment. For detailed explanation visit my website and read the article on "Fibromyalgia"

    Thank you

  • Massage can be helpful in managing the symptoms of fibromyalgia.
