I was so fortunate to have seen the complete band twice, and a third time with Berry. I still have a stub from 1970 where they were backing up Mountain at Stonybrook
The Allmans played in Pittsburgh about two weeks before Duane died and I was there in the seventh row. I saw the Stones with Stevie Wonder opening in '72, Zeppelin in '74, B.B. King in '72, along with Dylan, Springsteen, Traffic and many others, but the Allmans are to this day the best concert I've ever seen.
This old footage is really neat. Its like opening a portal back in time for a brief glimpse of the Allmans in their glorious sonic prime.(hey I'm a poet) :)
This show was my first of many ABB shows, and the only one with Duane. The power, passion and originality of the music (especially in concert) absolutely knocked me out. BTW, this was recorded at Central Park in NYC, not Macon.
There's no other band in rock and roll I would rather hear improvise at length than the original ABB, and it's precious to see any footage of Duane. Many, many thanks.
I could not agree more. With every word you said. This is like a look into the mystical past. It's almost like video of Robert Johson, it's so grainy.
kool, u can actually see duane haha, and its my favorite song..to bad its only the end..good enough though, great vid
duanes got the tabacco burst les paul too, not many vids of duane (not many of him in general) with that one, in fact this may be the only ive ever seen
Seeing vids of Duane Allman playing mesmerizes me. When I first saw Robert Plant in person on stage I was just awstruck. You see these rockstars in the vids and its not much because its not actually them in front of you, but when I see Duane Allman, even on a screen instead of actually live, I get that same feeling. Its like, "Wow..I am looking at Duane Allman the great playing a guitar..". Just amazes me every time. Thanks a bunch Scotiadave, you are awesome!
Thanks for the great memories! I grew up in Macon watching the ABB play in Central Park. Seems like it was on Sunday afternoons, before the first album came out.
If you are in Macon, check out the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. The Allman Brothers coverage could be better, but it is still good.
I am so grateful for all videos of Duane playing. It's sad that Duane died just three short months after this video was shot. The following year I remember being excited about seeing The Allman Brothers and The Grateful Dead playing in Houston. The Allman Brothers had to cancel due to Barry's death that weekend. I thought the world turned upside down again. The Dead played the entire show. It was the only bright spot out of all the sadness. But I wish I had seen them both play live, just once.
I've got the entire bootleg of this in my pc. Most of the songs are not complete, but it's still a good audio footage

Early model cell phone camera. And even in 1970 there were assholes who would rather watch Duane through the lens of a camera rather than live.

Zeppelin didn't play any shows in '74 you are either mistaken or a liar.

Great to hear people who know just what they are talking about. Duane is missed and who knows what or where he would have gone,

the first time I saw Duane and the Bros was in 1969. I was 13 and that is why I got a guitar and learned to play.

The links in the description are all cut off at the end so the videos can't be found. Or am I just retarded?

you're right, don't know what that's all about. I've removed them. To find the others, do a youtube search on scotiadave, they should pop up. :-) D
