I used to do that..when I was in the mental ward for cutting myself, I used my fingernails because I was so desperate. I have clinically diagnosed severe chronic depression and anxiety, and bipolar..yes I do have two sides to me. I am fifteen. Yes I can relate to this girl, but that in no way means I'm supporting her, glorifying her or wanting to kill anyone.

I'm saying there's help and she should have gotten it before she took that little girl's life.

The psych defense hardly ever works. A majority of people in the US are on some sort of anti-depressant or have been on it. Chances are a few of the jurors are. She knew the differences between right and wrong and she wasn't suffering from hallucinations. I doubt it worked. The cops then confronted Alyssa what she knew about Elizabeth...and she led them to the body....and told the police that she did it cuz she wanted to know what it was like to kill someone. I have been treated for depression when I was a teenager and have been on every psychotropic drug imaginable including Prozac. I've experienced many nasty side effects from some of them. Prozac or any other antidepressant they were giving her gives few warnings as to what to expect next unless you know these drugs inside out. Most know NOTHING about them. How many know how similar they are to PCP? No one would be surprised at her actions if they knew she was taking PCP and had been for years. Antidepressants produce homicidal ideation as a side effect - that is premeditated murder, more on the part of the manufacturers who have known and remained silent leading to many deaths.

She was living with her Grandparents, so I am not sure what the situation was. Maybe one of the biggest reasons she had conflict and confusion in her life. This is one of them that I said did the cutting thing that really needed help. Although they repeatedly say over and over in media reports that she was receiving progressive counseling, I believe there were a lot of adults that missed the warning signs on this one. So sad!!
