I LOVE the albums but to me this one is Rocket Science...LOL! I have taped albums every which way and they still aren't right. It's the spacers that I can't get right. I noticed that it appears that the spacers weren't used in the Dec, 2009 tutorials, so think I'll just do that type unless there is a "paper sack album with spacers for dummies" video...LOL.
@ScrapperGenLa In this video, the kraft cardstock hinges that join the bags are two inches wide and scored down the center. The bags are attached on either side of the center score. In the version with the spacers, the assembly is exactly the same except that the cardstock pieces are 2.25" wide and scored at 1" and 1.25" to form the spacer. The paper bags are adhered one on each side of each score line.
I did it wrong, I got lost :( I ended up with a bag at the end instead of a flap. but I will have to work with what I ended up with, i don't wana throw them out. but Im sure if i keep practicing this video I will eventually get it I like the idea of it. thanks
@TheRachel3131 If you have a bag on the end instead of a flap, you just need to add another cardstock hinge & ONE more bag. Then you will have a flap on the end. :D
Hi Kathryn I would just like to ask you where would you red sticky tape, from (I thought I saw some at my local Walmart, in my craft selection, I did see Elemer's Sticky tape, So would that work just as good? TFS, Im going to favorite this video, and try to find sticky tape if I can, ScrappyDiva1 I also subbed :)
@ScrappyDiva1 The last time I purchased the red sticky tape, I got it from ArticusStudioDesign {dot} com. They have the T3 tape from Provo Craft, but I buy the {not acid free} bulk red tape from Germany. It's pretty much exactly the same! Not sure about the Elmer's Sticky Tape as I have never tried it.
This was really useful because there is all different ways to put a paper bag album together and this is the easiest I have seen! :D would really like to know if you have any idea of were I could get the red sticky tape in Australia WA? Thnx again :D
@yojo2011 I don't know where you could get the tape in Australia, but you might try asking Jenn {her YouTube Channel is ozegran} as she is from Australia & might now some good online Australian shops for you to choose from.
Hi! Saw this video when you first put it up, but I just now referred back to it, step by step to make one, so I wanted to thank you again for this tutorial, I know it takes allot of time/effort to put out videos, so I wanted you to know how helpful this was! Thank you. Hope you have a great week!! Corene
@KimScrapper I got the red sticky tape I used in this video at confessionsofaribbonaddict {dot} blogspot {dot} com, and I have always been pleased with the product and customer service I have received from there. Recently I found a site that carries it more cheaply, but I haven't ordered from them yet so I can't speak to shipping speed or customer service. I am going to try them next time I buy. It's articusstudiodesign {dot} com. Hope that helps!
I have a question, I want to teach this album to a big group of ladies and I am trying to cut up in cost, what do yo think of using glue stick instead of the tape.
@thewiseowl1 I doubt glue stick would be strong enough. The red sticky tape is barely strong enough & the ATG adhesive is not strong enough. If you want to try something cheaper than the red tape that would still be very strong, I recommend a liquid glue like Scotch Quickdry or even hot glue. I hope that helps & have fun at your class!
Hey Kathryn you know I DROOLED over the Prima albums! So I am excited yo did a tut on how you assembled the bags. I got some white paper bags from Michael's yesterday, so I will use that and your technique to make my Christmas album! tfs
This is just the bomb - thanks for giving more ideas on how to assemble bags. I somehow always get stump on what is the best way to putting the bag together. Thanks a muchie again :D
I appreciate your response to my comment so am taking a chance that you'll also have a minute to read this....I have been contemplating an ATG and have had many questions. Is it heavy and do you find it bulky to work with (especially on a smaller album). Is the adhesive super sticky and does it hold up to the handling that an album takes? Any other advice about the ATG? Thanks so much!! Ann J - Saginaw, MI
@ajones038 I did a long blog post all about the ATG. I sent you a PM with the link since YouTube doesn't allow links in the comments section of videos. I hope it helps!
I love paper bag albums. I can't say why they just fascinate me but I think it has a lot to do with the fact that you can buy a hundred of them at Sobey's for a couple of bucks. Everyone's always look so different from everyone else's but your Pastiche album has to the BEST!
Kathryn! This is such an awesome way to assemble paper bag mini albums WITHOUT losing any of the bag sections! This is so very clever! I love it and it's now in my favourites and can't wait to try it. Thanks for your tutorials - I just love them!
Hi, I have been a subscriber for a while and am so glad you put out this tutorial. I love your work and how you explain the process along with the philosophy. And I just like you voice. You are great on U Stream also. Anyhoo, this is a great tutorial. I'm going to run into my scrapbook room and make me some paperbag albums. Do you normally put them together first or decorate first? Thanks again.
@flirtini83 Thank you so, so much for your very sweet comments about my videos and my channel. I really appreciate them ~ you're awesome! :D In the two Prima albums, I added a bag at a time. I was using lots of Distress Ink and Glimmer Mist to change the colors of the bags & it was easier to handle them if I only attached one at a time after they were all inked up & decorated.
see... I did it wrong... I did not do mine like that... that quick way you showed on Ustream was too quick... I told you I would forget!... I'm glad you did this video!
I had to laugh as I watched you assemble this bag album. We all need to buy stock in sticky tape. It is the perfect product for assembling an album but we sure go through it LOL. I love how you put your videos together. They are a pleasure to watch and very informative!! I look forward to watching all future videos.
@ajones038 Stock in sticky tape is a good idea! This particular album style uses a boatload of the stuff! I try to use my ATG more than sticky tape when I can, but for a project like this sticky tape is the way to go! :D Thanks so much for watching & I'm so glad you enjoyed the content and the format!
I made one without the piece of cardstock (just sticking the flaps together) and its movement it's really limited. Thanks for the tutorial, really helpful. Vron
@TheSnazzyCrafter Yes, it is totally customizable! I have also used it for those smaller "Celebrations" brand bags from Michaels & It worked great for those, too!
@mssoftbrn I got it from Two Peas when it first came out. I haven't seen it anywhere lately, so I hope you find it. Have you tried BlueMoon Scrapbooking? They have lots of Prima products.
@mssoftbrn P.S. I totally thought of you while I was doing this video & how I tried to show the idea that one night on UStream using post-its and who knows what else. I think this one worked out better! ;)

You can add more bags right?
JJKicecream 7 months ago
@JJKicecream Yes, you just add them two at a time to the middle so the single bags are always on the outside to attach to the cover.
