Man this show manipulates with our feelings...They made us love Lionel at the end...love the show but i wished that a big producer had taken over that show.
I love how Whitney's Dad and Jonathan were buried in such a beautiful cemetery with Angels and the feeling of God looking over their son's shoulders but Lionel is buried in this bleek, emotionless cemetery...the stare that Lex and Clark give each other like, soon, it's on, but not today, and the bit of a smile from Lex, almost feeling sympathy or respect for Clark...and then Clark pouring the dirt as a final respect and the sun shining on Lionel's cold grave..... beautifully done.
I am a guy and everything and I squealed with so much excitement because of my nerdy side when they had Lex come back for the finale just to hear him speak his lines, and just talk makes the whole scene bad ass.
First my uncle passed the way, my grandfather followed him after 5 months then i lost my love and my job...so please one of you give me a link for this song...it makes me tears up whenever i see this....
It is one of my favourite moment, when they look into each other eyes and we can see that at last Lex became the person we know from original story. Cruel and pitiless.
I actually feel real sorry for Lex, even if he killed his own father. Because his father was always hitting him or whatever, he was kind of an underdog to his father. And then there is someone who came in his life as a best friend but always lied in his face. And his mother died when he was young. That is a real Trauma to a man who is still so young!
Great Scene! Does anyone know which song is this one? At first I thought it was a slow instrumental version of "To the moon and back" by Savage Garden! But, I haven´t found anything about it... Hope you can help me!
1:32 That cynical smile at the corner of Lex's mouth says a lot about his attitude. How his views have become so askewed. He has no soul left to burn. And you can see in Clark's eyes how he tries to recognize the friend - the brother - he used to have in this man standing on the opposite end of the grave, but can't.
In the Season 3 Premier, when Lex was presumed dead, Lionel gave him an epic tombstone and he gets this in return from his son? I think this was done intentionally to show how low Lex has sunk... anyway, GREAT scene. Love the music here.
The muted line is brilliant- leaves so much to think about- to me it looks like he says "Dad", and the fact that it's muted symbolises what Lionel really meant to Clark- a vessel of not Jor-El, but of Jonathan Kent.
@Madygrl23 It's actually not a song by anyone; it was written for the show. I can send you an MP3 file if you'd like to upload it to your ipod. email me at matteocrosscountry@msn.com to remind me!
That glance they give each other tells a lot. There's no going back. Lex has crossed a line that is beyond redemption...and at the same time killed any chance of these two reconciling and mending their fractured friendship. The lack of dialogue works in that there are no words left to say. Clark is in effect mourning two deaths: Lionel's, and that of the good man that Lex once was. All that's left is hate and a hunger for power.
POWERFUL SCENE! It all begins now.

"Total absence of love. Some say that's the definition of evil."
I liked the Lex in first seasons ! So sad to see how he became the true villain of the superman's story...

Clark: "How could a son murder his father?"
Clark is quick to forget how much a horrible human being Lionel was before Season 4. He's the reason why Lex is evil for goodness sakes.

One of my top 5 favorite scenes in Smallville. Great exchange of looks between these two and music for such a great dramatic effect

@ manon : on ne le sait pas. C'est juste un petit morceau écrit pour cette scène, magnifique je te l'accorde.

You can really feel Clark's shock and pain to realise that such evil exists. Especially in someone that was once his close friend.
It's sad to see them as enemies, but at the same time it has to be this way.
