  • what if the whole concept of religion and science is bull**** and what we are looking for is just right around us staring back in our face?

  • Steven Hawking is the king of comebacks. Enough said.

  • "you made a mistake"

"oh yeah? well without imperfection neither you nor I would exist. burned"

  • Love me some gravity! Don't know where I would be without it.

  • Hey, can someone please explain to me why, when gravity pulls hydrogen together it becomes hotter? Thank you

  • @SamForsterr what happens when you heat a gas, the atoms bounce inside and create pressure in the container. now reverse this, if you condense them as he stated they begin to bounce off each other not a container, like friction at the atomic level. this multiples the more dense it gets thus the more heat is generated. the very basis of heat the movement of atoms.

  • lol bringing up religion mon, When you die you're not going to heaven or a hell "religous people" believe this also dem believe when you die you're not going to a "hell" because hell doesn't exist nor do "they" believe they're going straight into heaven because like most of us (humans) have commited sins. To be honest though we shouldn't need to bring up religon it just causes too many arguments. STEPHEN HAWKING is AWESOME though gotta agree on that & yes im stoned ^___^ we fly high no liee

  • Free energy has been here all along ,But there are very powerfull forces that want to supress the technology,Get the blueprints for a free energy motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Free yourself!

  • Next time someone complains that you have made a mistake, tell them: "That may be a good thing, because, without imperfection, niether you nor I would exist."

    - Stephen Hawking

    AWESOME!!

  • 4m where the matter came b4 the big bang ??

  • dude i have no idea why someone would WANT to believe in god - that's stupid! ):(

  • @Dennispokemon1 They believe for hope, that death isn't just a hole in the ground, that there is really someone watching over us, that we were not just a mistake, the wild off-chance that two particles hit each other and caused life.

  • wow, i would'nt want to be in that soccer stadium.

  • I hope Stephen is not trying to mentally satisfy himslef that his medical condition "imperfection" is the perfection.

  • A lack of order? May I suggest a lack of human knowledge? If you don't know the order, it does not mean imperfection.

  • great movie

  • Did he say soccer? I thought this was British.

  • @meyerjac made for Discovery channel which is (correct me if I'm wrong) all North American.

  • Blue Star: "FIRST!"

  • i hate how scientists say that things happened by accident. since there was no purpose to anything then there could be no accidents

  • @carlsagandisciple: The concept of "accident" applies only to people. When it comes to the universe, we can't say that it happened by accident. It's a fine example of overstretching our metaphors.

  • 03:11-03:55 KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!!!!

  • great episode, very well explained. a precise introduction to cosmology, the fundamentals of particle physics, forces of nature and everything.

  • "in the beginning there was nothing, and then, BANG"

    god did that

  • @ClythiaMystica: Actually, it wasn't a bang at all. Space-time expanded rapidly...the Big Bang theory doesn't even tell us if the universe had an actual beginning. We can deal with at the best a Planck second, which is 10^-42 seconds.

  • wish i had this for my physics gcse lol.

  • "the very same process that causes the stars to shine just HAPPENS To create oxygen, carbon, and iron." "simply by accident they are giant factories"

They dont just "happen" to do those things. God made them that way so he could give life to his creations. God bless xx

  • @ClythiaMystica or maybe thats what just goes on.

  • @algenocideal Okay? you atheists have had your fun. I am a GOD WARRIOR

    we will PREVAIL

  • @ClythiaMystica lol, this is funny.

  • @JakeBPlaysMusic it wasnt meant to be but thanks

  • @ClythiaMystica that's the funny part

  • @JakeBPlaysMusic okay..? looks like you're part of the army of satan

  • @ClythiaMystica yup. satan's a hell of a mathematician.

  • @JakeBPlaysMusic: But the universe is beyond our petty values and words. The concept of "satan" comes from people...it does not arise from the interactions of stuff in the universe, save for our personal experiences of hate, enemies and the need to join a group who can fight against our enemies.

  • @ClythiaMystica

LMAO. You fall victim to the same human characteristic that causes many brilliant minds to believe that this BBT is true.

  • @ClythiaMystica LOLL

  • @ClythiaMystica: Who's this "we" who will prevail? If we screw things up, bacteria will prevail.

  • @CathySander u won't provail that's for sure, ur out of the picture friend

  • @ClythiaMystica Or the physical properties of the universe made them that way.

  • i love that quote before the break at about 1 minute!

  • I'm at the part about the dying star right now and, wow, this is amazing.

  • Now that someone mentioned how Hawking isnt knighted, im really curious as to why he isnt? hes done more for our understanding of the universe than anyone, ever.

  • Hey i really liked the music used in this series - especially the end-credits music. Can anyone please give me some link to where i can download the soundtrack to this series or at least listen to it ? thanks in advance...

  • The thing I loved the most about this episode was how Hawking first brought up the idea of there possibly being a grand designer / creator of everything (aka God) and then destroyed the idea...

  • Its so hard to fathom..... what's beyond the universe? And what is beyond that? Its hard just to think that there HAS to be an ending to space, I mean how CAN it end?

  • @TheVampyreCat I know what you mean. If you think about both space and time, it seems impossible for either to have a beginning or end, and equally impossible for them to go on forever, yet one of the 2 scenarios MUST be true. If you go to the beginning of time, what happened one minute before that? If you reach the end of the universe, what is directly in front of you, a forcefield that prevents you from goin any further? And if so what is on the other side of it? Its just fucked to think about

  • @dirtyd365 Oh, yeah I know. The human mind just can't make sense out of it! Its crazy!

  • @TheVampyreCat

The whole universe is a giant simulation, an illusion.

Ultimately, that's what science will discover.

Science will discover that studying the universe was a waste of time lol.

That's the main idea wich was unconsciously expressed for years behind the creation of video games, movies, paintings, musics, religious stuffs and all forms of art.

  • we are just sooo lucky!

  • All came together on its own huh? I love Hawking but he's still a theorist. I'm just sitting here contemplating me and all the geniuses on here ... explain how I am I and you are you and ... well you get my driff

  • acutally if it weren't for the perfect placement of our world in our solar system then we wouldn't be here.

  • @caydenmann earth placement did not have to be perfect if we were another 5 miles closer or further away from the sun we would be fine. i actually think it is 1000's of mile of range we could move the earth and we would be fine.

  • @hellasow If it weren't for Venus's atmosphere, Venus would be in an ideal location for life. However, because of the atmosphere, Venus's surface temperature is way too hot. So the range is pretty wide. Mars is just a bit too far.

  • Notice how professor Stephen Hawking is so massively awesome, that even apples dare not fall on him.

    Immensely interesting documentary.

  • stephen hawking can split stars in half. holy. fuck.

  • someone help me understand

    i love religion

    and science

    but know im so conflicted

  • @rollinthunder1000 Religion is a myth.

  • @PyroVesten

    well thats comforting

and am i to guess you are completley sure meaning you could say with exactly 100% percent that these turn of events happen precisly by chance

    that coincedence rules through everything

  • @rollinthunder1000 That is right. Religion is a relic of the past, from a time when people thought anything they couldn't explain was magic, instead of trying to determine its true cause through experiment.

The only reason programs like these avoid touching the topic of religion, or instead hint at the POSSIBILITY there could be a creator is so that sensitive audiences don't stop watching when they are told that there is no place for a god in a universe governed by its own laws.

  • @PyroVesten Religion may or may not be a relic...but you still cant prove that God exists or doesnt exist. There is just no way.

Isnt it possible that the big bang didnt just happen out of nowhere that may God was behind it?

You should open you mind up a little bit because just a few hundred years ago, the greatest scientists thought that the Earth was flat. I would had to imagine what you would said to Galileo if you were alive during his time.

Consider the fact that we dont know everything

  • @tarhim47 I'm not going to waste me time.

  • @PyroVesten I bet thats the very thing that scientists were saying when everyone else was bent on thinking that science is not important during earlier civilizations..."i'm not going to waste my time."

you must accept the fact that we dont know everything and that there is no way to prove who or what started the big bang.

if youre going to take everything at face value and not willing to challenge anythings, then yours goings against the very essence of science - search for higher truth..

  • @tarhim47 He meant arguing with an ignorant fanatic, not argue that there is a god or not.

  • @ThespianGoneWild hey,

first of all,m hilarious name, bravo, lol

secondly, it seems that Pyro was suggesting that God doesnt exist because "...there is no place for a God in a universe governed by its own laws," which is why I made the point that he made.

But i will agree with on your point. Many people who follow religion, do not fully understand it and are not willing to questions some of the aspects. Which is fine, is its limited to their own lives but not for enforcement.

  • @PyroVesten puh-leeeeez! Just because we understand a bit more about the universe, doesn't mean there isn't a being (God) who is behind it all

  • @PyroVesten well so are you then heheheheh

  • @rollinthunder1000 I SENSE A TROLL. If not, just keep looking into it and researching. You'll find your answer.

  • 3:41 halo anti gravity jump thingy

  • without imperfection neither you nor I would exist...I don't know how to respond to tht xD Really thought provoking

  • 9:24 ooh thats why gold is so damn expensive

  • 0.55 apples are staying the fuck back from him

& damn this guy is clever!

  • Hawking is not only a genius but a very good teacher. It is amazing he can translate his complex theory into something I can understand.

  • Science always goes along with true religion, that is Bible. Don't be binded by too much science. Too much of anything is good for nothing!

  • I wonder why we continue to live the way we do, knowing this.

  • At what point will you realize you are arguing semantics? Science is a method of explaining the unknown. Religion is a method of explaining the unknown. Both constantly redefine the meaning of existence based around unchanging principles (i.e. The Bible, Koran, Newton's Laws, Einstein's Theories of Relativity). Who's to say God and Gravity are not synonymous? The fact is, Science is too narcissistic to accept a Grand Designer, and Religion is too intransigent to consider opposing views.

  • @smn475 I do agree. Why can't people accept that there will always be contradiction? What we really need to focus on is surviving. Religion in my own opinion, focuses on the past. But science will help advance us into the future. Yeah, there may be a Grand Designer, an ultimate god. I think that's something we can never prove, and we just have to accept that, and think about surviving, rather than arguing over opposing views.

  • but where does god come in?

  • @pucksterz12 we human are not ordinary. we are the whole center point of the universe! Do u think all these stuff happend just randomly? u got to be crazy! Look around you how complicated and beautiful is life around us! We are extraoridnary beings - able to question and reason the universe. It was God who made the uneven-ness and then made antimatter resulting in life forms. Life can exist elsewhere also - but it was a super intelligent being which did this.. God.

  • @rockofhoreb If we humans are not ordinary then what is?

"Life can exist elsewhere also" "we are the whole center point of the universe!"

so all other life forms, if there are any are insignificant?is that what you are trying to say. "

  • @MrJebbis Human life is very complex. "center point.." i meant in the domain where we live, i.e., our vicinity. we alone are masters of them all, to explore and inhabit them. Intelligent life can exist in far off stars or galaxies also just like us. It is possible.

  • @MrJebbis I believe it is the purpose of God along because pure random accidents can't make such complex machinery. God moves in natural ways, Laws established by Him. We humans see the natural methods and say it all happened naturally forgetting the laws of nature was originally estabilished by God.

  • @rockofhoreb

god was just an explanation for how the world works when humans didn't know any better. There is no need for the concept any more.

  • @usagicullen Dr Hoyle says evolution concept is like a tornado sweeping thru d junkyard and assembling a boeing 747! In other words Evolution is the craziest cooked up story ever. And u evolutionists believe in this crap? amazing! Stephen Hawking says DNA codes may have come from a far off planet carried by asteriods. Let me ask u: how did life in that planet began in the first place? Ans: its all a clever way to say "we really don't know anything".

  • @rockofhoreb

you're a moron to use that example. The chances that a junkyard can assemble a 747 are 1 in millions. That's not how evolution works - you don't jump from single celled organisms to humans as the fossil record indicates.

where did life come in the first place? currently we do not know what sparked life on earth. however, for those posing that god did, they must answer where god came from. extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

  • @usagicullen For those who worship sacred science theories, Bible says: "If my gospel is hidden, it is hidden to those who are lost. Satan has blinded their minds lest they should believe the glorious gospel and be saved" (2Cor.4:3-4)

  • @rockofhoreb

so what that the Bible says that.; what gives it authority? because it says its the book of god? archaeology has already determined that most of the stories never happened.

  • @usagicullen archaelogy proved a lot of things did really happen! like sequence of events in creation, adam and eve, red sea opening, etc etc. i'll tell u by what authority bible stands. u give me ur email id, my email is d same id here with suffix @gmail

  • @rockofhoreb There is no proof that Adam & Eve existed. And the Old Testament said that people with disabilities should not inherit the kingdom of God. Why would you want to worship something so false?! That's because the PEOPLE who WROTE the Bible had no idea that people with disabilites weren't demons but were people with genetic disorders. Science proves a lot of fallacies in the Bible such as that example. If God was true, he would know that people would be skeptical of his existence.

  • @OhayoTokyo Nowhere in Bible does it say ppl wit disabilities were called demons! Infact Bible says Jesus touched, spent time with, and healed (out of their local law)the sick, disabled, lepers and crippled people. Where do u get these strange info about Bible anyway?

  • @rockofhoreb Oh and also explain to me.... HOW COME CHRISTIANITY ISN'T THE FIRST RELIGION?! CHRISTIANITY IS ONLY LIKE 2500 YEARS OLD WHEN THERE WAS RELIGIONS BEFORE THAT SUCH AS THAT OF ANCIENT GREECE AND ANCIENT CHINA AND EVEN ANCIENT EGYPTIANS WERE BEFORE CHRISTIANITY. CHRISTIANITY IS JUST ANOTHER BRANCH OF JUDAISM AND ISLAM. SO DON'T TELL US WHAT WE SHOULD NOT AND SHOULD BELIEVE IN BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRUTH IN THE BIBLE ON HOW MAN WAS CREATED. IT'S A FACT THAT HUMANS ARE ANIMALS THAT EVOLVED.

  • @OhayoTokyo Christianity may have started just 2500 years ago, but prophesies of the Messiah (greek: Christos) were dated 6000 years ago! And there were 100s of prophesies about Jesus (made hundreds n thousands of years before Jesus) came to reality with immense detail about his birth, life, death & resurrection. This is no joke. For a proper critical comment on Christianity i suggest you make a study on all religions and you'll find out which one you'll choose.

  • @bjayakaran @bjayakaran SHUT THE FCK UP WITH YOUR STUPID RELIGION BULLSHAT, just because your brainwashed doesnt mean you should infect others... fricken bible thumpers

  • @Xeidasx Are you refusing to what I said?

  • @bjayakaran arent you supposed to be believing in fat ol buddha? ohhh wait its what ever was brainwashed to you in your location... get a grip man, see the world for the way it really is. RELIGION HOLDS BACK HUMANITY

  • @bjayakaran The fact that something has been spread a great distance doesn't automatically make it true, things like star wars, or baseball made it china. On the topic of prophesies, what makes the distinction that they are talking about the same person? The truth is ambiguity, these "prophesies" could be talking about anyone. Since Religion is talking about a concept which is only observable through faith, it is impossible to confirm or deny its existence, you can't prove a negative.

  • @bjayakaran

so only Christianity is the true religion of humanity and all of others are just bullshit and science that actually proofs something is also a bullshit well bring me evidence and yep if you don't know your christianity is just one more religion to go and you believe in just another god and all the past ones were false ones

but your god and your preaching envolved from past religions for example the first monotheistic deity was egyptan god of the Sun called Aton

  • @rockofhoreb no, those things have never been proven. what evidence does it have?

  • @patrickledford420 It has been proven! I have most of the proofs. pls contact email if u want to tell it to you cos this msg space is not enough. You guyz of missing a lot of things.

I love science and i love Christianity because it gives me a whole picture. I do not want to hold on to something that is not true. I follow religion because it has so much information about who we are, where we come from, where everything is going. so much more.

  • @rockofhoreb send me a PM. yes, religion has answers just not the right ones and none with any evidence. i feel the same about not wanting false beleifs, no matter if there not as pleasing as some others but i actually dont want a god to be true yet i would accept it in a heart beat if you show me good tangible evidence

  • @rockofhoreb that pure lies nothing of this has been proven and the bible only has authority amongst the foolish

  • @TheMaximusmacro In the centuries to come science will grow and prove spirituality to be true. that time you guyz will be proven d greatest fools. what a pity

  • @rockofhoreb haha dream on buddy

  • Comment removed

  • God may exist, but he isn't necessary for the creation of the universe.

I self don't believe in god, but the people who do, they get strength from the god because they believe in him, and that believing gives people power to succeed in things. If you don't believe in what you do, you have less possibilities of succeeding in it.

  • @HyperGolem don't believe in God

dude believe at Naruto, Son Goku, & Luffy

    they really exist Ahahaha!

    mga putang ina nyo

  • @rockofhoreb galileo established hundreds of years ago the we are in fact not the center of the universe, we are one small insignificant planet in a small system in a massive galaxy in the universe. our insignificance can't even be truly comprehended. in reality we are nothing special at all and certainly not the center of it all, to say so is an act of pure hubris.

  • When you look at the big picture, we here on earth seem pretty ordinary and insignificant don't we?

  • Without Law however, there would be no Chaos and Chaos depends upon Perfection interacting with Imperfection producing Order and these are linked by chains which in turn produces life and can also be said to be Chaotically Imprefect yet simultaneously Perfectly Orderly!

Stop talking ridiculous trash and just watch the damn thing, you tool.

  • @3eau2aniel I am an English Professor who can't for the Life of me figure out Why you keep Capitalizing every Few Words you type. Maybe there's Something you Know that I might have Missed at Harvard?

  • @3eau2aniel lol

  • @3eau2aniel tits

  • Without Chaos there would be no Order, without Order there would be no Law, without Law there would be no Perfection, without perfection there would be no inperfection and without inperfection there would be no life.

  • @warelf97

A great chain makes life, if the chain is broken or cannot be completed, it will affect the rest of the chain and as a result, the result or awnser of the chain will be changed but it was a chain which was broken which resulted in life in the universe, and that itself is chaos which connects to order then law then perfection then imperfection then life itself.

  • man so cool what he said "without imperfection we wouldn't exist" so can imperfection be the true perfection?

  • @bomba1170 only if existence is perfection

  • @bomba1170

    correct answer :)

nevertheless there is something called supersymmetry, it doesnt mean that is all perfect, there is a need of an "unbalance" in order to make everything work

  • "star stuff contemplating the stars"

  • how old r you???..........now how old is the stuff your made of?.......little bit of diff huh?

  • The Sun produces about 400 or so yattowatts of power.

  • So metal is like a sorce of energy that are helping the star to expand because of magnetic presure so strong? Theory: like the system of a Pop-corn....

  • @Sonyoooo3 you are soooo wrong. L2 Listen.

  • thumbs up:D

  • coolest shit ever!

  • Wow I just realize that I learned much more from this vid. Thanks for uploading!
